"What's Lockdown?" Gumball wondered. "He's a dangerous alien criminal from the planet Cybertron. We've encountered him and his cronies all over the world doing all sorts of evil stuff. He's been in the criminal game for millions of years so he knows what he's doing." Finn explained. "Why's Rob working with him? And why attack the mall?" Penny wondered. "Rob told me he was here for something else. What could it be?" Gumball wondered. They walk to where a fountain once stood, now a large disc-shaped device in its place with people gathered around the strange object.
"Is that an alien artifact?" Darwin wondered. Simon inspects the device, finding no marks aside from scratched out words, the only legible word being "SCRANTON". "Doesn't look alien." Simon said, noting the device's architecture. "What do you think it is?" Finn asked. "Hard to say without switching it on, which is the last thing we wanna do." Simon answered.
A fat blue humanoid wearing briefs and a trucker hat runs to the crowd to grab their attention. "Everyone, check out the news! These robots are everywhere!" the blue man exclaimed. The people watch the news on their phones, watching coverage of a town-wide invasion, from the park to the city centre, and the suburbs where Gumball and Darwin lives, among other places. The drones plant the devices in all over these locations without pattern.
"Penny, I'm sorry but I have to go with them. Whatever Rob is doing, I have to stop him." Gumball told Penny as he holds her hands. "What can you do against a robot army?" Penny asked Gumball. "I'll figure something out, but I promise I'll come back alive." Gumball said. "Should we really bring him?" Jake asked Simon. "He's the main character of this universe. Of course he should come." Simon answered.
Once the five hit the road, Finn contacts Minerva in Hub City. "Mom, it's Lockdown, he's here. Martin probably brought him here with his powers. We need backup." Finn told Minerva. "Give me a map of the area and the locations of the drones, and I'll send available operatives to those coordinates." Minerva informed Finn. Simon uploads a digital map of Elmore back to his home universe for Minerva. As Afterburn zooms down the intersection, Multiverse Bridges open up all over the city.
Crashing into a dark forest is Fallback: a sandy yellow Jeep equipped with army equipment and two roof-mounted rifles. Rolling down the suburbs through the drones is Backfire; a black three-wheeled motorcycle being ridden by a Daniel Witwicky; a masked rider dressed in a white motorcycle jumpsuit. Hovering in the sky above the city is Springer; a green twin-rotor helicopter. Accompanying the operatives are fleets of white drones that transform into Formula-1 race cars to provide support. "Lock and load, boys!" Springer said enthusiastically.
"Where are we headed?" Gumball wondered. "Let's go for the school. These attacks might be coordinated on-site by Lockdown and his allies, so anyone might be there." Simon answered. They arrive at Elmore Junior High where a massive hole is present where the entrance was. "Looks like someone's already here." Jake said as he exited the car. "You gonna give us weapons or what?" Gumball asked Finn.
"Sure thing." Finn said as he tosses the two brothers Amp Arsenals. "These are phones." Darwin commented. "Think of them as spy phones. They can hack computers, listen from afar, and can transform into weapons. Observe." Simon told them. "Digital Dagger: four feet." Simon spoke into the Amp Arsenal, which extends a long energy blade from the top. "Woah, so cool!" Gumball said excitedly.
"Now that we've geared up, let's head in!" Jake said before the heroes rushes into the school. They dash through the decimated hallways with evidence something big came along and tore the place apart. They eventually come to where Gumball and Darwin's classroom once stood, where now the wall is torn down and Rob is standing before one of the "Scranton" devices. "Gumball, glad you showed up. You're about to witness something great." Rob said. "Rob, what are you doing?" Gumball asked Rob.
"I'm making a better reality, one where you don't exist." Rob said. "What are you talking about?" Gumball asked. "I don't have time to waste with you, but you'll see soon enough. Doctors, take care of them for me." Rob answered. Zipping out of the ceiling is a menacing, skeletal robot with glowing yellow eyes, electric blue hair, and scary medical equipment mounted on its arms, from needles to bone saws. It catches Simon by surprise and slams him into a locker.
"Hello again, Finn." the robot turned and greeted Finn with a familiar woman's voice. "Doctor Gross." Finn said in surprise. The robot's face turns inside-out, transforming into Doctor Gross' human-looking head. "It's just like what the other Doctor Morocco did to himself." Finn commented. "Speaking of." Rob said before a swarm of red metal crashes through the windows.
The swarm forms a giant hand and darts towards the adventurers, only for Finn to jump in the way to be dragged out of the window. "Finn!" Jake screamed. Finn is tossed into the school courtyard as Doctor Morocco forms from the swarm. "Doctor Morocco, you've gotten another makeover too." Finn said. "Indeed! Visually, it's based on an earlier prototype, but it's just as deadly." Doctor Morocco answered.
"Too bad I'm gonna scrozzle this one in the face too!" Finn said before Afterburn zooms into the courtyard, transforms to punch Doctor Morocco in the face, and combine with Finn. "I gotta help Finn!" Jake said as he runs towards the window, only to be stopped by Doctor Gross. "Bad dog! Stay!" Doctor Gross taunted. "You're not the only one with an upgrade!" Jake exclaimed. He stretches out a punch, and an array of metal plates materializes around his arm before slamming Doctor Gross.
The plates rearrange into robotic armour around Jake's massive arm as another assembles on his other arm. As Doctor Gross gets up, Jake grabs her and punches her through the wall, the force pulling him outside as well. "I think it's just us!" Darwin said worriedly to Gumball. "It's just one Rob. We can take him." Gumball declared as he extends his Digital Dagger. "Yeah… it's just me…" Rob said as he presses a button behind his back.
A bigger MorBot breaks into the room, engulfs Rob, and throws the brothers out of the building. The brothers crash through the courtyard fence and onto the road when they come face-to-face with Rob's mech; a black version of Doctor Morocco's MorBot body. "…And my new mech. Don't worry, I won't kill you. I'll beat you black and blue so I can show you my endgame later." Rob taunted before winding a punch with his giant fist. A bright flash of light shines from behind the brothers, blinding Rob. "Where'd that come from?" Gumball wondered.
They turn around to see The Barista, The Scientist, and The Astronaut closing his visor standing behind them. "Thanks for the save." Gumball thanked them. "Are you guys with Finn and Jake?" Darwin asked. "No, but we are friends." The Scientist answered. "We're here to drop off a present for you." The Barista said.
He holds out his hand, as does The Astronaut, while The Scientist holds out a strange remote-like device. Materializing behind the brothers are two giant battle suits modelled after their smiling heads with bulky arms and legs directly attached to them. "You're giving us mechs?!" Darwin pointed. "You've got five hours before Project Exonaut finds out they're missing." The Barista informed them. The three back away into a veil of rippling reality, disappearing entirely.
The brothers quickly scramble up the legs of their suits and enter through a hatch. Rob gets up and look at the two brothers' shorter mechs standing before him. "Where'd you get those?!" Rob said in surprise. "A wedding photographer, a doctor, and an astronaut gave them to us!" Darwin's voice echoed from his suit. "They're surprisingly easy to move in! They've got something like those motion-tracking things for new game consoles!" Gumball said.
"Huh, mine too." Rob said with an impressed tone before running at them with a wild growl. The brothers dodge out of the way with a cartwheel. Losing control, Gumball crashes into a parked car when Rob comes at him with a punch. When Rob lands the punch, Gumball catches it with his two hands. He pushes Rob away when Darwin piggybacks onto Rob's mech. "Get off me!" Rob demanded.
"What weapons does this have?!" Gumball panicked as he looked at the holographic U.I. surrounding him, landing on a display of four weapons, one labelled "WILDFIRE: WILD CHILD". "I dunno what this does, but it's a gun so it'll do!" Gumball said as he selected the weapon. Materializing into his mech's hand is an orange machine pistol. He aims it at Rob and rapidly sprays a flurry of bullets towards Rob. Darwin jumps off Rob when the bullets hit him.
Darwin rolls across the pavement and back onto his feet. "What do I got?" Darwin wondered as he looked through his weapons until he finds "MARKSMAN: OVERGILL". He produces a futuristic red pistol with an extended muzzle. "Is that a typo?" Darwin wondered on the name. As Rob fights against Gumball firing bullets at him, Darwin takes aim.
He fires three shots in quick succession at Rob, blasting away several layers of armour plating in one spot behind his shoulder. "It's a sniper rifle! It's got a forty-ammo clip!" Darwin yelled to Gumball. "I've got weapons too!" Rob screamed as he deploys a massive right arm cannon. He aims at Gumball and fires a laser beam, launching Gumball into the side of the school. Gumball pries his mech out o the brickwork and finds he's right next to his classroom where the "Scranton" device sat.
He aims his Wildfire at the device, only to be pulled away by Rob and thrown into a tree. When Rob charges up his laser cannon at Gumball, he is sniped by Darwin from afar with four successive shots. As Rob is shocked by the hit, Gumball shoves his Wildfire into the barrel of his cannon and blasts it from inside. "My cannon!" Rob screamed. He runs back to the device to find it fully armed.
"Lockdown, the last one's armed! Activate them now!" Rob informed Lockdown. "I can't do that. The others are destroyed." Lockdown answered. All over Elmore, the robotic operatives stand victorious atop the remains of the drones to the cheer of the population. "Not this one!" Rob said as he exits his mech. He jumps down to manually activate the device, when he is suddenly frozen in ice.
Simon appears out of thin air, flipping over as if he was as thin as paper. "That's the first time I've been shoved in a locker. Hopefully the last time." Simon said before shoving an ice kunai through the device, freezing it solid. Rob's mech is blasted to pieces as Gumball and Darwin jump through the rubble. They slam their fists into the device, shattering it to pieces. Finn and Jake were just done when Doctor Morocco and Doctor Gross flee, badly damaged.
"Looks like your plan's been put on ice." Gumball told Rob before high-fiving Darwin's mech suit. They exit their mechs and regroup with the adventurers. "Nice mechs. Where'd you get them?" Finn asked them. "They just… showed up." Gumball answered. "Y'know, you're not so bad… for a cat." Jake told Gumball.
"What are you gonna do about Lockdown?" Gumball asked Finn. "We'll find him, but first we'll have to fix up the town." Finn answered. "Wanna get some ice cream? My treat." Simon offered. The adventurers cheer in agreement before leaving the school. Rob is left encased in ice, which melts from sheer anger. "Gumbaaall!" he screamed. He drops to his knees and picks up the pieces of the device. "I can salvage this… somehow…" he muttered.
THE END
