Most of Thace's night was spent reviewing the interrogation footage. He knew there was nothing to be pulled from it. The Blade of Marmora agents were trained to not give anything away, even if he played it backwards there was going to be nothing. But Vace was determined to find something, anything to take down this rival organization.
Vace, his brother, the one that was allowed the spotlight while he was left to find his way in the shadows. Was their mother proud of who her treasured son has become?
Thace glanced down at the screen before him. The frozen form of Vace staring at the prisoner, a snarl on his lips. A tyrant in the making. His comrade had been killed in that room; by his own brother at that. It was a lot for one to wrap their mind around. Sighing Thace pushed the tablet away. He needed to put his own family matters behind and focus on the mission at hand. How to stop Vace from destroying the Blade.
At that moment the door slide open and in walked in a young Galran woman. She had her hair braided down her back and fluffy purple ears perked up. Over her yellow eyes she wore a pair of safety goggles. In her hands she carried a tablet, her fingers sliding over the surface as she walked. The woman wore a white coat, but beneath that was a grey body suit. The chest was covered in a galra rank labeling her as a lab tech.
"Oh, hi!" The woman spoke setting her tablet to the side. "Didn't see you there. Vace is keeping me busy with projects, so you know how that goes."
Thace nodded gesturing to his own tablet, "Believe me. I know."
"Hey, aren't you the new recruit?" Vace didn't get a chance to respond before she continued. "You know he has his eye on you. Not in a bad way no. He just sees a lot of potential in you." She stacks some papers on top of her tablet. "Sorry, I've just realized that I've been talking. This entire time. What's your name?"
"Thace," he replied.
"Mines Katora," she replied, a smile gracing her lips and eyes shining bright. "I hope to see more of you around her. The Galra empire could use more soilders like you." With that she was out the door and down the hall, leaving Thace to comprehend what the hell had just happened.
He rested a fist against his cheek only to find that it was warm. He pulled away shocked at himself. That was the one thing he couldn't allow to happen. She was on the wrong side of the battle, and from the sound of things Vace's personal technician. Getting mixed up in that was the furthest thing from what he wanted to accomplish.
Half an hour later Thace dragged himself from the room. It didn't take him long to find Vace, he was with Katora. Vace was sitting on the counter while Katora worked, moving around Vace when necessary. He had just about made up his mind to walk away when Vace called his name.
Katora gave him a friendly wave as he approached. "Nice to see you again." She said before turning back to her work.
"What have you found?" Vace asked. He jumped from the counter. He reached for the tablet expecting some sort of circled portion of the video.
"Same as you," Thace replied, "There's no clue in the video. Though-" he hated to suggest it doing so would only bring Vace closer to discovering the location of the Blade; however, he had to sell his part of the loyal soldier. He frowned forgetting his company.
"Though?!" Vace growled. "Are you going to continue soldier or do I have to smack it out of you?"
"No sir. Sorry sir." Thace scrambled to say. He took a breath before continuing. "I was simply going to suggest we check the pod that the prisoner came in. Maybe there will be more clues there?"
Vace set the tablet on the counter gently considering his words. He had failed to prove himself with the interrogation footage and in turn lost the chance at gaining a footing with Vace, but with this lead maybe he'd learn something in order to help the Blade defeat Vace.
"Alright Thace," Vace spoke clapping a hand on his shoulder as he walked past, "let's see if your right."
Katora's reassuring nod was the last thing he saw before the doors slid close and he followed Vace to the pod bay.
Thace was feeling more constricted the more he interacted with Vace, he was going to have to make his move quick if he was going to make it out alive. And now with this new development with Katora. His heart fluttered just at the thought of her smile. He couldn't allow it. He wouldn't. So Thace bit his cheek and narrowed his focus on his brother ahead of him.
Oh that's right. The one thing that connected the two of them.
What would happen if Vace were to find out?
