An hour later, Steve told Junior that he was leaving. "She slept, Junior. I'm going to go buy her some pregnant's clothes. Tomorrow I'll take her shopping for whatever clothes she wants. She's wearing only my robe now."
"I'm still in shock from this story, Steve. How is that possible? It's the breakthrough of the century!"
"Please don't tell anyone this, Junior. I won't let anyone use her and my baby as guinea pigs. Danny made fun of me when I told him and Harry, and he told the whole team. What if not just be between us and the team? What will people want to do with her and the baby?"
"You're right Steve. It was a dumb thought. I'm sorry."
"It's okay Junior. If she wakes up tell her I'll be back soon, but I don't think she'll wake up soon, she's very tired."
Steve went out and bought her clothes. He didn't know if she would like it, but he bought the ones he liked the most. He preferred long dresses so that she wouldn't feel much of a difference between the clothes she was used to wearing. He glanced at the children's clothing section and gave in to the impulse to buy some baby clothes. When he returned home she was still sleeping.
"She was really tired," Junior told Steve.
"Yes, I'll cook her something to eat when she wakes up." Steve put the clothes he'd bought her and the baby in the bedroom and went to the kitchen.
Catherine woke up a few hours later and Steve was sitting on the bed watching her.
"Steve?" She said still sleepily.
Steve kissed her forehead tenderly. "Hey."
"It's not a dream, I'm really here. I was afraid it was just a dream."
"Yes, you're here. I'll bring you dinner. It was supposed to be lunch, but you slept for many hours."
"This bed is wonderful and I was very tired. I was trying so hard to get to the other Kingdom."
"Forgive me for not being there for you. I tried to get back there but I couldn't, I didn't know how to do it."
"Those were very difficult days..." Catherine paused. "I was devastated when I realized you weren't coming back and I was panicked when I found out I was pregnant."
Steve stroked her belly and leaned his head against it to talk to the baby. "Daddy loves you," he said at the end of the conversation.
Steve got up and grabbed the clothes he had bought. "Look at this, Catherine," he said as he showed her a little yellow jacket.
"Is this for the baby?" She asked.
"Yes you liked?"
"It's beautiful, Steve. Thank you." Catherine looked at the other little clothes and was thrilled.
"Tomorrow we're going to the doctor and we'll find out if we're going to have a boy or a girl," Steve told her and she asked how that would be possible.
Steve smiled. "It's possible, Cath. You'll see tomorrow."
"Are you happy for the baby?" Catherine asked him.
"Of course I do, Cath. I'm so happy." Steve kissed her long and slowly. "I bought you some clothes too. Go get dressed while I go get your food."
Catherine dressed while Steve went to get her dinner from the kitchen. "You look beautiful," Steve told her when he walked back into the bedroom.
"Thanks. It's a shame I won't have any paintings of me pregnant."
"But of course you will." Steve picked up the phone and photographed her.
"What is it?" Catherine asked.
Steve showed her the photo. "You will have a lot to learn."
"I would never imagine such a thing," she said looking at the phone.
"I'll have a frame made of your photo." Steve told her and then called Junior to take a picture of Steve and Catherine together. Junior did as Steve asked and complimented the couple's photo.
"Thank you," Catherine thanked Junior for the compliment.
Steve called Harry and asked him for help so that Catherine had documents. "Oh, let me get this straight. Don't you want people to know that your girlfriend is only about 600 years old?" Harry didn't miss the opportunity to tease Steve.
"Very funny, Harry. Are you going to help me or not? I think she's about to give birth and I wanted to take her to Hawaii before that happens."
"I'll be there the day after tomorrow. It's as fast as I can get it," Harry told him.
"Okay. Thanks, Harry. And please don't tell anyone," Steve asked, but he knew Harry was trustworthy.
"Of course not. You don't have to worry about that."
"Thanks, buddy," Steve replied.
The next day Steve took Catherine to the doctor and they discovered that the baby was a boy and could be born at any time. Then they went to buy the baby's layette and more clothes for her. Then Steve took her to lunch.
"It's all so different, Steve. I don't know if I can get used to it," Catherine told him as they walked downtown.
"You'll get used to it. It may take a while but you'll get used to it."
Catherine was surprised when she saw the castle. "Steve, there's the castle!"
"Yes, your castle has turned into a museum. Do you want to go there?"
Catherine felt her heart beat faster. "Yes I want."
Steve took her to the Castle and she looked at everything with a lot of nostalgia. She saw the pictures on the wall and stared at them for a few minutes. "I was very sad the day I posed for this portrait." Then she looked at the portrait of the king. "I miss my dad so much."
Catherine walked towards the room where her bedroom used to be. "My room!" She walked to the dressing table and touched it. "One day I was brushing my hair here and I had the feeling I saw you standing next to me, but you weren't there."
"Actually, it happened. I saw you too, but you weren't here. Cath, today I know where this all started."
"And where did it start?" She asked.
"In my home in Hawaii. I wanted to find the love of my life and told a friend that this love was somewhere. No matter what 600 years separated us, you were born for me and I were born for you."
