Authors Notes- Aaaand here I am again with another chapter to A Princess And Her Knight. Sorry it took me so long to update this, life you know how it is. Anyway as you know I don't own Fairy Tail that belongs to Hiro Mashima. I am merely borrowing them for my own amusement. Now, that we got that out of the way here is Chapter Eight. I hope you enjoy.
Despite her reluctance Cecilia couldn't help the thrill running through her body as she stood on top of Kardia Cathedral, looking down at Magnolia so late at night. It was too quiet for her liking, everyone in this drab little town was tucked away safely in their beds. A cruel smile creeping to her face, to think it would only be a matter of time before this town, and all towns like it would be in ruins. Soon, the Old Goddess would rise, and they would rule the world. Cecilia felt giddy at that thought. Just one more sacrifice and it would be all over.
But that being said that didn't mean she couldn't have her fun beforehand, and though she should really get that red headed bitch from Fairy Tail. And maybe that blonde Celestial wizard as well, but before that she was going to have some fun in this quiet little town. Leaping off the roof of the Cathedral and down to the streets below, thoughts of chaos running through her sick, little mind.
What was wrong with her? Lucy thought as she stared up at the ceiling, sleep alluding her. Thoughts of Erza Scarlet running through her head. With a frustrated sigh Lucy swung her legs over the side, obviously she wasn't going to get any sleep tonight. Maybe she could get some writing done. Running a hand through her hair Lucy paced around her bedroom. Erza Scarlet. Titania Queen of the fairies, one of her dearest friends.
Why did she invade Lucy's thoughts like this? She hadn't felt like this since she was younger when she had a crush on one of the sons of her fathers clients. And... oh no... Realization hit her, she had a crush on Erza. Actually Lucy thought as she gnawed at her bottom lip, maybe this was something stronger like... love? Love, the corner of Lucy's mouth turned upwards at that thought. Funny, she never thought she'd be falling in love with one of her dearest friends.
And yet, here she was unable to sleep because Erza kept running through her mind. Sighing Lucy plopped herself down on the bed, staring up at the ceiling once more, another sigh escaping her soft pink lips. Now the number one question was, what was she going to do about it? With the case and everything else it wasn't like she could just confess her feelings out of the blue. So now here she was laying awake thinking about her friend, though if Lucy was being honest with herself she couldn't really say she was surprised as she thought back on it. Hell, back when she met the red haired wizard Lucy pretty much started crushing on her the moment they met. At first she had thought it was admiration for the other woman but boy was she wrong.
Biting down on her bottom lip Lucy couldn't help but wonder what Erza would think if she just up and confessed her feelings? However before she could even dwell on these invasive thoughts any longer there was a loud explosion sounding from outside.
Leaping up from her bed, she peered out her window seeing nothing out of the ordinary until she spotted several people running. Something was up, getting dressed Lucy raced out of the house, shoving past several more people in their rush to escape whatever chaos was going on, her heart beat quickening when she saw smoke billowing from somewhere further ahead. Picking up the pace Lucy knew that something was wrong when she heard screaming. Placing a hand on her keys she prepared for the worst as she pushed and shoved past several people as they fought to get away from the chaos.
Another gasp escaping her lips as she skidded to a stop in front of a burning building. The half charred sign indicating that the building before her was a magic shop. Or was... However before Lucy could dwell on that thought any longer shouts sounded from somewhere within the burning building, making her heart stop.
"Help! Please help we're trapped!" A woman's terrified voice called out.
And that was all the incentive Lucy needed, biting down on her bottom lip she pushed forward, knowing that none of her spirits could help with the fire. And of course the one that could help needed to be summoned through water. And just as luck would have it there was no water to be seen where the fire was at least. Except for a rain barrel near the building, it wouldn't be enough to put out said fire but if she was going to stupidly run head first into a burning building it might be of some help.
Seeing the tattered remains of a flag hanging off one of the other buildings. With a grunt she managed to grab it and pull it down before dipping it into the barrel, soaking it thoroughly. Wrapping it around her nose and mouth she steeled her nerves, shouldering the door open, and was immediately greeted by a curtain of black smoke.
"H-help!" That same voice cried out, coming from somewhere further in the shop.
"Hello, where are you I'm here to help you!" Lucy called out, crouching under the black smoke, looking for any sign of the people trapping in this place. Hopefully, Lucy mused, before the building itself came crumbling down on their very heads.
"We're in the back! Please help us!" The voice called out once more, and Lucy urged herself towards the back, the voice sounding closer and closer as Lucy found herself in a hallway looking between two doors. Biting down on her bottom lip once more as she looked between the two, before reaching for the knob. And instantly regretted it as pain lanced through her hand as she touched the scalding knob. Searing her flesh as she pulled away.
Hissing between her teeth she did the next best thing. Taking a step back, she slammed her shoulder against the flimsy wooden door. Thankfully, the door gave in after a few tries, and Lucy found herself in what was once a storage room. Squinting through the haziness she saw no one, backing out of the room she turned to the door behind her and shouldered it open.
Nothing, where could they be? There weren't many places left in this tiny store for them to be hiding in, could there? Gritting her teeth Lucy looked around before moving further down the hall the voice had stopped calling out for help. Lucy hoped she wasn't too late. Moving further into the building Lucy came to one final door, this one ajar. Pushing it open Lucy's heart leaped into her throat as she peered into the room, sitting in the middle of the room was a recording lacrima shining brightly amidst the haze. And hanging above it were the bodies of a man and woman, who, Lucy could only venture a guess had been the owners of the store.
"Help...please..." the lacrima pleaded once more, and despite the heat of the room, Lucy felt cold. Someone had set this up, someone had butchered the elderly couple, and was fucked up enough to string their bodies up. Lucy could see signs that they had been tortured beforehand. The woman had obviously been ordered to record her voice before she had her throat slit.
Swallowing thickly Lucy looked around the room, crying out as a flaming piece of wood fell from the ceiling and brushed against her right arm. She could dwell on this later, she needed to get out of here before the whole place came down.
Creeeeeak...
Speak of the devil, looking up Lucy saw the piece of ceiling that the couple hung from collapsed, burying the bodies in rumble. Cursing under her breath Lucy turned, and raced down the hall, little did she know that the person who had been behind this had one final trick up their sleeve. Tucked in one corner of the store room a bomb lacrima sat nestled between two boxes. Soft light pulsed from it as Lucy raced past it as the pulsing soon increased.
Lucy was mere inches from the door when-
BOOM!
Heat washed over her as she was tossed form the building. Sending the Celestial wizard skidding across the ground, blood trickling down her lips from her bloodied nose, her knees and elbows stinging and bloody as she picked herself up off the ground and looked to the remains of the burning magic shop. Tears welling in her eyes as she thought back to those poor people who had suffered needlessly, and for what?
Letting out a pained groan she got to her feet, looking down at her scraped feet, blood leaking from them.
"Are you okay?" A voice spoke up, looking up she nodded as she wiped blood from her nose, her clothes covered in soot. The skin on her arm was an angry red color, to put it mildly she looked like shit.
"I could be better." She managed to croak out, as the man who helped her handed her a tissue for her nose. "Whoever lit this place on fire killed the people who owned it before doing so." She told him, turning around when she heard a loud crash as the building finally collapsed on itself completely.
"Shit... maybe it was that girl I saw roaming around a while ago." The man piped up, his eyes never leaving the fire.
Blinking Lucy looked up at the man, a questioning look on her face. "What woman?" she asked.
The man worried at his bottom lip as he looked down at her. Lucy's heart sinking as he began to describe the woman with wavy black hair, and the most intense green eyes. The very same woman she and Erza had confronted on their job. The one that had murdered one of her own team mates in cold blood. What was she doing here in Magnolia? Whatever her reason for being here Lucy knew it wasn't going to bode well for anyone. Something bad was about to happen...
Authors Notes- And here I am finally done with Chapter 8. I hope you enjoyed it. And I have nothing else to say. So this is Black Jack signing off.
