This drabble concerns Harvey and Ingrid throwing caution to the wind and enjoying themselves.

TROUBLESOME WE MAY BE, BUT PLEASE DO NOT DAMPEN OUR SPIRITS

For children of their age, their natural level of trust was low. Subjected to years of isolation, within an institution that bred fearmongering, the Immune SPLAT members were wary of the world. Would they always be ostracised in society? Their well-founded fears had been dispelled slightly by the revelation of their immunity to hypnotism, a plausible reason to their isolation from the rest of the pupils, however their fear was swelling once again as their nemesis was within reach of ultimate power.

Their panic-inducing concern for Dinah rooted them to their seats and they watched the events of the Great School Quiz with rapid-beating hearts and wide eyes. Only an hour before, they believed their orchestrated delays were working, yet they found themselves guarded in their row, unable to alert anyone not under hypnosis of the Headmaster's true intentions.

During the middle stage of the Quiz, despite her fear, Ingrid couldn't help herself grinning at the antics on stage. Her enjoyment of seeing her favourite show live was dampened by the life-changing events of the potential aftermath, but she could not contain her sputter of laughter at Eddy Hair's erratic gestures towards Rose.

Beside her, Harvey turned. His fear was apparent, however the urge to laugh was building up within. His girlfriend seemed so care-free, and why shouldn't they be?

If their lives were to be ruined within the next hour regardless of any last ditch effort to save the freedom of the country's population, then they should celebrate their current freedom. The opportunity to enjoy being children, watching a live broadcast of their favourite television show. Harvey's lips tugged into a wide smile, matching Ingrid's own one. The fear and paranoia they had felt over the years at such a 'fine institution' seemed to melt away and they clamped their arms to their stomachs and laughed. Their shrieks of gleeful hysteria boomed over the substantial noise level and the reactions they received were varied. Lloyd, Ian and Mandy could not stop the horrified expressions that quickly etched onto their faces. The youngest members of SPLAT were risking even more trouble by causing a racket and the horde of children enclosing their seats, their 'guards', shot them deadly stares, as if their eyes alone could will Harvey and Ingrid to shut up into silence.

Down on the stage, Dinah tuned out of Manor Park's debate about their latest question, not to focus onto Eddy's antics, but to gaze far up into the rafters. She could just about make out her friends, amidst the bright stage lights, but spotting her foster brother and girlfriend laughing both startled and annoyed her. The annoyance was because of their apparent reaction to such a macabre situation, which affected their lives, and purely startled as laughter was the last thing on her mind.

The Headmaster himself, ears attuned to the forbidden noise within his school, glowered from behind his glasses up at the troublemakers. The loud laughter had unfortunately accosted his eardrums over the years, albeit in a much more disguised manner. The snorts and snickering were always quickly smothered by his Prefects, but to hear awful noise coming from his enemies sickened him. They would not be laughing when he took over the country.

In their seats, Harvey and Ingrid caught each other's eye and cracked up all over again, the latter wiping tears from her lashes.

"Harv, you ever notice the Headmaster has an…" She descended into another cacophony of giggles, pointing out to the free prizes being thrown out to the audience by Susie. "Wish we got prizes! They should get a cannon!"

Excitement fizzing through him at the thought of prizes, Harvey bit his lower lip to attempt to control his laughter. "Tell me what the H-Headmaster has… Oh, I know!" He sniggered. "An egg head?!"

"Exactly!" Ingrid screamed, hands shooting out to clutch at Harvey's blazer. "He looks like a little boiled egg! And you know what else…"

"What?" Harvey snorted in hysterics and displaying a flash of confidence, booted the chair in front of him, alarming a hypnotised St Champions 'guard.' "Excuse me, do you take food orders? Eddy says about that giant donut he eats after a show, can you go and get it so me and Ingrid can eat it? I reckon we could demolish it flat in two minutes."

The pupil glared at him, and Harvey snorted again at the reaction, peals of laughter exploding to his right. "Jeez, lighten up, this is a comedy show after all."

"We're like the flipping muppets off the Muppet Show! The two old men in the box up high!"

"Aww, you make a pretty man," Harvey sputtered between breathless gasps of laughter. He imitated Ingrid's actions by grabbing at her blazer, eyes alight. "What does the Headmaster remind you of? Some old creepy man from a horror film?"

"No," She tittered. "This!" Ingrid rounded away from Harvey and bracketed her mouth with her hands. "CAW-CAW!"

The sudden crow noise gained the majority of the audience's attention, and those who did not hear it, turned to see what everyone was looking at. On the stage, the participants peered up to the rafters and Eddy Hair cawed back, grinning wickedly at the participation of the individual audience member. The Headmaster, if his glasses were to be removed, was currently burning the two children's souls out of their bodies, enraged beyond belief at such blatant mockery.

Up above near the back of the Hall, Ingrid slipped her hand into Harvey's and rested her head onto his shoulder, their combined laughter ebbing to a record of erratic cackles.

"Love you."

"Love you too, you're the person I'd want to see this show with."

"Facing death and seeing our favourite show all in one day, what busy lives we lead!"

"Yeah, we nearly got pecked to death!"

The laughter swelled up once again.
