Zoro smacked Luffy's hand away from his plate. He send the man-child a glare before continuing to eat. He was a little worried. It had been a week since court. They said two to three days. He was getting more and more worried, nervous as the days past and he didn't get that call.
Did things go really bad? Was it because he got kidnapped?
He loves his friends, there here with him now. He was able to open up about things more than before. It wasn't like back in highschool but it felt the same. It made them all closer now than before. He was thankful to them, for asking to come to this gathering but...
He just couldn't focus. "Hey you're not paying attention." Franky says wrapping his arm around Zoro's neck as he drink some cola.
"I'm not into... football." Zoro says focusing on his plate. They all gathered at Franky's to watch the Davy back fight football tournament. He heard it was big but he's not a football fan.
"Don't bother... the marimo can't keep up with what direction the football is suppose to go." Sanji grins, he gets slapped in the back of his head by Nami and punched in the arm by Luane. "Ow! Why did you do that?" He asks the ladies quietly.
"You're suppose to get him to like you." Nami whispers.
"Making fun of your crush isn't going the get him to like you back." Luane says frowning.
Zoro growls, "I can keep up. I just think it's boring. Back and forth, back and forth. I'd rather watch a kendo match." Zoro stuffs the rest of his food into his mouth as he set the plate down on the coffee table and laying back on the couch. He stretched his legs as he chewed his food. Combat boot touching the edge of the table, blue camo pants unwrinkling, tight t-shirt stretching with Zoro's muscles, the chain with his badge sliding down his pecks. Sanji had to look away. Damn, he knew they said a person looks hot in uniform but Zoro has to be illegal. It was like looking at a sexy calendar, officer Zoro edition. Zoro rest his head back, showing off his neck, ripe for tasting. "I'm tired." Zoro whispers softly as he close his eyes. He's happy they thought of him, they could tell the stress of waiting for the call. They wanted to get his mind off thinking about it but it's not helping.
"What are you wearing?" Nami asks, having finally decided to just ask.
"It's my training uniform." Zoro says not looking, just resting his eyes.
"Why are you wearing it? And training for what?" Robin asks.
"Our police system isn't like other countries. We are trained as if we are in the army. With discipline and hard work. I'm a training officer so I've been training a bunch of rookies. Which are all a pain in the ass, as well as doing paperwork. I hate doing paperwork."
"If I remember correctly Chopper said you are the Chief? Exactly what does that intel?" Robin asks, Chopper sadly not with them do to work at the hospital.
"The Chief of Police. It's given to someone who worked as an officer long enough. It was about sitting at a desk doing paperwork, going to fancy dinners, wearing suits but that changed."
"Did you change it?"
"No, Senkoku did, the man before me. The only thing that really changed is sitting at a desk looking at paper most of the day. Now I have people to look at the papers and if it's import they set it aside for me to look at, if someone else can deal with it, or should deal with it they send it to them."
"They?"
"I have two people doing it. I still go to fancy dinner and wear suit from time to time but other than that I'm working like I did before. On the streets."
"You seem very young to be the chief of police?" Robin asks.
"And who is trusted enough to go through the chief of polices papers?" Nami asks.
"I got the position because I use to go undercover a lot. I also took down a lot of people, Troy included in that. Also I choose who goes through the papers, two people I trust most: Coby and Tashigi but the latter is on maternity leave so someone else I know is doing the work."
"Sounds tiring." Usopp says.
"It is, especially since the rookies are all assholes. They think talking back will get them some sort of metal. It sucks but we have to break those guys. They are at the bottom. Plus some of those guys won't pass."
"Pass what?"
"We have written test at the beginning and end they have to take, the first test is for basic information, how good their grammar is, math skills and to see if the person has an army background. We get some honorably discharged veteran that still what to help, but in the city rather than out. The second test what type of person they are, weather or not they might abuse their power, hurt innocent citizens, or are discriminate. That's why knowing if there are veteran is important, we alto their test because it won't be the same, there are some question that are specific to citizen."
"LIke?"
"One of the question is: have you ever shot and killed a person? Did you feel remorse? That question is made for a normal citizen. If a veteran were to answer that they would have been rejected, even if they are ok. We took that question out and just replaced it with more military information so we can check just in case. We don't want it to be too easy. That's how we get assholes that tarnish what a cop should be." Zoro says.
"Who would have thought it was so hard?" Usopp asks.
"I thought is was fast." Nami answers. Zoro gets up as he feels his phone vibrate. He gets up and goes down the hallway for some privacy.
"This is Roronoa Zoro." Zoro answers his phone. His eyes widen as he felt his knees give out. Sanji saw Zoro fall to his knees.
"Zoro!" Sanji runs up to him, getting the attention of the others.
"Is this a joke?" Zoro asks. He covers his eyes with his hand as he sat there. "Thank you." Zoro says, a tremble in his voice. Sanji looked at Zoro sadly, they all did as Zoro ended the call and sat there.
"Zoro, I'm-" Sanji starts but Zoro jumps up and gives the blonde a hug, a tight hug, the cook could feel the badge against his chest. Sanji pats Zoro's back.
"It got approved!" Zoro yells. Sanji pushes him away.
"Wait you mean-?" Sanji asks. Zoro nods.
"Arin and Lili are mine."
"Congratulations!" they all yell as they join in on the hug. Zoro felt really happy, cloud nine happy. It was finally happening.
