Welcome to another oneshot that was once a hiatus when I first wrote it, but I'm back and running so there's no need.
By the way thank you for reading the other ones and being patient for the next chapter to come in (aka this chapter)
Remember that one chapter where Rin used Len's surname (Kagamine, this is in my hcs), well, here's a chapter of Len finding out about Rin's actual surname!

[DISCLAIMER: I don't own any vocal synth mentioned in this oneshot. This is a fanfiction and I do not want to deal with anything that has to do with the law right now. Afterall, I am an underage highschool student]
WARNING: It's a mild warning but yes, there will be swearing in this oneshot. If you are a badass and don't care about swear words, then good for you.
It's the afternoon. I'm currently outside with Rin, sitting on the bench while enjoying the view. We're just in the park witnessing children scream like someone's gonna kill them.
Rin's eating on my crepe, thinking she could get away with it, but I decided to let that slide. She looks adorable like that. Just acting like she doesn't do this when she obviously does.
But there was one thing that bothered me. Rin supposedly shares the same surname as me. Which I highly disbelieve since I know this last name isn't even that common around this place. So there was one question that came into mind: What was her actual surname?
I should ask her. Maybe she could help me out.
"Hey, Rin?"
Rin turned around to look me in the eye, still eating my crepe. "Yeah? What do you want?" She asked. I hesitated to ask her, worried about her reaction.
"Why do you want to know? You already know that it's Kagami-"
"Liar."
Rin stopped talking for a moment. She started to pale like a kid who was caught stealing cookies. ( I know it sounds cliche, but that's the simile I was going for.)
"O-Okay, then. So you know that I don't have your last name, huh?" Rin started to fluster, "B-but I'm not telling you my last name either way! Nu-uh. Never in a lifetime!"
...Oh.
So she doesn't want to say her surname to me. I think I would probably go for plan B: Making excuses.
I turned to Rin again, only to see her biting down on my crepe, but a bit too hard. I guess that's what she usually does whenever she's embarrassed or mad. Now I don't know what to say to her if she looks like she wants to kill someone. Not saying she does. I doubt she would kill someone again. As I said, I'm not saying she does.
What was I gonna do again? Oh yeah, plan B.
"Uhm, Rin?" I asked her. She turned around, pouting at me. "What is it, Fuckface?"
Already with the insults?
"Well, don't you think it would be a bit weird?" I asked, " I mean, some people would think that we're siblings who're into incest. When it's obviously not true, right?"
Rin nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, you're right..."
(Finally! I'm making progress-)
"But isn't there a girl that has the word Kagami as their first name?" she asked me.
I sighed, "Yeah..."
Right when I had her, she used the 'common surname' excuse. I don't know how she knew about that, but I won't give up on this. I'm moving on to plan C: convincing.
Didn't I do that, though?
Fine. Plan C: Bribing.
"Rin?" I called her. Again. She turned around to look at me. Again. She looks pissed.
"What da fuck ya want, Dickhead?"
I stared at her for a few seconds. Pretty much shocked by the way she talked to me. I didn't know she had an accent... Or something. Is this how she usually reacts when she's in a bad mood?
I should probably ask Miku later on. She would know.
"Well?! What da ya want, huh?!" Rin asked in a snippy tone. I don't know what to say right now. Mainly because of her accent.
"U-uh...Well... I was thinking-"
"Oh, Gad Faking dammit! Ah knew yer gon ask that faking question to me again!" She interrupted me. Now I feel bad (and still surprised by her snippy attitude). I watched her got up from the bench and stomping her way back home, leaving me alone, guilty for asking her that question.
I sighed.
"Pfft... Some boyfriend you are."
...Yeah...
Wait a minute... We're not dating...And most of all...
"Who are you?"
The girl behind me came out of nowhere. She's tall with her long, blond hair tied up into a side ponytail. She stares at me with her dark, brown eyes.
The girl chuckled, "Pfft. My name is Neru Akita. You must be Len, right?" I jolted from that question. I don't know how she knew my name, but I found it scary at the same time.
"H-how did you know my name?" I asked, still panicking on the inside. This only made the girl laugh harder. "Oh gosh! You didn't know that she-" Neru paused, "She didn't tell you, huh..."
What does she even mean by "she"? Who is she even referring to?
I felt so confused that I tried to avoid this Neru girl as soon as possible, but she started talking before I got the chance. "So...Ren, right? Is that how you correctly pronounce it?' she asked me. I nodded slowly, still not trusting her. "Uh...Well...That's how my friends and family pronounced it. Rin always calls me Len," I explained to her.
Neru's eye's sparkled at my answer. "Hey, is it ok for me to call you Ren?* You don't mind, right?" I stared at her and nodded again. "I don't mind, Akita-san."
"No! No! Don't cal me Akita- san! Call me Neru! I don't mind that at all!" Aki-I mean, Neru exclaimed, feeling more excited than ever. She's just like Rin, but an over-exaggeration of her excitement. "Uh...I gotta go-" "Hey! I have an idea! Why don't we go to my place? I have someone you'd like to meet," Neru interrupted me as she grabbed my hand and dragged me away from my now former spot.
Isn't this a kidnapping?
I haven't told Rin about leaving with another random girl. If she found out, she would be pissed. We (more like Neru dragging me) ran towards not a house, but a mansion...?*
"Why a mansion?" I thought to myself. I don't know what's so important about it, or maybe something important going on, and I'm missing out on it. I looked down to see Neru's hand on my wrist. I wouldn't mind it if she wasn't the one cutting off my blood circulation with these hands of hers.
"Lily! Get your ass over here! I got him!" Neru yelled as soon as we got there. I was surprised that she had that side of her. "My god! I'm here! What the fuck do you want, Neru?" A woman who's around three years older than Neru walked in. She had a cold glare across her face which kinda freaked me out. When she looked at me, her expression changed.
"Neru, what is he doing here?" She asked with a questioning look on her face. "Do you even know what would happen when R-"
"That little bitch didn't tell him about us, so she does deserve some payback!" Neru cackled. I don't even know what these two are on about, but they did mention someone. "By the way, big sis. You haven't introduced yourself to him yet," Neru smiled. The woman sighed and looked at me again.
"My name is Lily. Akita Lily," She said to me. Her icy blue eyes stared deep into my soul. I shivered at her, trying to avoid eye contact. Being here just makes me want to go home. I didn't sign up for this. All I just did was hang out with Rin.
"So! Lily, Haku's here, right?" Neru asked her. Lily nodded and shifted her gaze towards another woman with long hair and with blood-red eyes. I shivered again, but so did the woman. "Uh...N-Neru? You do know the consequences if you initiate that plan..." She muttered. It almost sounds like a whisper.
Neru walked over to the lady and flicked her forehead. Then Neru pouted, "Ha-Ku! You don't need to worry about me! This is what she deserves!" Haku stared at Neru's brown eyes and then muttered, "I am worried for you, though." I didn't want to see or hear the rest of their conversations, so I tried to leave. Only to be stopped by Lily's infamous glare. "Where do you think you're going?" She asked. I stood there, terrified of her entire existence. "Well!?" She barked, "Speak!"
I was tempted to say something to piss her off, but I didn't. All I did was stood there, about to open the front door...
"I'm home..."
Everyone stopped to find the source of the voice. The person who said that was a moping Rin. When she looked up, she saw me (who's gawking like an idiot).
"Len...? What are you doing here?" she asked, surprised that I, out of all people, would be in Neru's place. Now that I think about it... How did Rin know about this place? Unless-
"Welcome home, little sister!" the cackle of the one and only Neru Akita emerged from the living room. Rin's face exploded into a bright shade of red. "You never told me that you have a boyfriend! And I thought you hated men!" She laughed even harder seeing Rin's reaction.
"Uuu..."*
So...Rin's surname is Akita. Was there a reason why she didn't want to tell me? Or maybe her siblings are the reason? Rin hid on my chest, still embarrassed about what Neru said. "We're not dating..." she muttered in my shirt.
Lily's glare still burns a hole on my head, but I'm not that scared since Rin's here with me. "Are you sure this kid isn't your boyfriend?" Lily questions, still glaring at me. Rin nodded, still clinging onto me like a lifeline.
Everyone was silent, except for Neru, who's currently giggling at the situation like it's some comedy show. The atmosphere became awkward after a few seconds. Until Haku decided to break the silence.
"Uhm... Wh-Why don't we have dinner together...? So we can learn about each other," She stuttered, looking at the ground. Eventually, we did have dinner together, and we did get to know each other.
Lily isn't always that mean to everyone. She's just very overprotective towards Rin. Neru said (even though I just realized Neru was with Rin since I was in grade school with her) Neru knew me when I was just a child. Haku is Neru's girlfriend working as a full-time maid, even though she didn't need to overwork herself (Neru's words, not mine).
Everyone, including me, had a good time, that we all didn't notice that the sun was already setting.
"Damn, nighttime already?" Rin said to herself, "Right when we were at the good part." I got myself ready to go back home. Before I reached the door, I was once again interrupted by someone. I turned to see Rin tugging on my sweater. She was acting a bit shy tonight.
"Uh...Len... About what had happened earlier..." She started, feeling hesitant about what to say, "I'm sorry about...y'know..." before she could finish, I placed my hand on her head. I already forgave her for that outburst she had. She got the message and smiled at me. I gave her a small smile and headed towards the front door. Only to be stopped the third time for her to kiss me on the cheek. It was a quick one at least, but of course, Neru saw us.
"So you guys ARE dating! I knew it!" Neru smirked at the two of us, who were embarrassed about this. "N-No! We're not!" Rin exclaimed, pushing me outside. "Len was about to leave! So I was saying goodbye to him!" She then locked me out of the mansion while arguing with her sister.
I walked out to call my sister Anon to bring me home. It wasn't a long ride home, so that was a good thing. "So, what did you do with your friend?" She asked me as she was driving. I thought about it for a while, but I stayed quiet.
"Ah...You don't want to speak right now huh, Ren?" Anon chuckled. I sighed as I closed my eyes and went to sleep. It was a peaceful sleep on the way home.
Bonus dialogue:
Neru: So...I heard some rumours that you and Ren did this and that.
Rin: Where did you get that from?
Neru: *smirks* You know what I mean!
Rin: *blushes ferociously* W-where did you get that from!?
Neru: *Cackles*
Some facto facts:
The setting is in Japan (which you should already know by now)
- Rin usually calls Len 'Len'. Meanwhile, Len can't pronounce his name right. Instead, he calls himself 'Ren' (though for some reason, thanks to Rin, he calls her 'Rin' though he sometimes says 'Lin') Neru calls Len either 'Len' or 'Ren' so, she's already used to that.
-By mansion, I mean apartment. Yes, in Japan, apartments are called mansions.
-Sometimes, Rin makes this 'uuu' (pronounced as 'oooh') sound whenever she's embarrassed.
