Worm/Kantai Collection
An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, blood for blood. These were the laws of the first people, one must pay back what they are given. Most seethes laws as barbaric and that they have created better more 'Just' laws, the sea dose not care. It is said that the only thing older than the sea is the sky, and a deal that all life came from the sea and thus return to it. All return to the sea in time, now a blood debt must be paid and they can no longer wait...
It was a Cold and wet day as the hellish mixture of rain and snow fell onto Brockton Bay, blanketing the streets with patches of ice. People huddled inside there buildings and cars trying to avoid the cold of April as best as they could, the weather tore at any who would dare step outside, and amongst the unfortunate few who dare brave the cold among the sparse crowd a tall gangly figure laden with old worn heavy clothing rushed down the side-walks, who was bracing themselves from the wind as they tried not to trip on the piling sleet.
"At least its better than taking the Bus" Taylor Hebert thought to herself bitterly as she had another pile of slush drop on her head from a overhead sign, sighing she blew into her hands, a modicum of warmth to her hands as she waited for the crossing to change. She stalked her way down the damp corridors and past the cars stuck in traffic trying to make her way to her home, "Not that it will be any better" she snorted at her though, sure it may be warmer, even with the house not being in the best of upkeep, but emotionally? She shook her head and trudged forward through the scattered suburban shops, the little shops that serviced anyone who didn't want to deal with the trudge downtown. She could stop for five minutes to warm up could she?
Sitting down after Paying for a tea with what little pocket change she could scrounge up Taylor took off her soaked coat and let herself relax, Idlily staring out the shop window, she wondered "where it all went awry", and slowly zoning out letting her mind wander away. Slowly she sipped the tea as she eyed the crowd, many were older folks she vaguely recognizes, others she recognized were dregs and want-to-be ganisters from Winslow. Getting back to her tea she thought to herself about what to do for dinner "Something warm... We have potatoes at the house?", she continued with her musings for a time until she herd... something? Turing her head towards the window she could barley make it out over he sounds of the café and the hustle and bustle of the city and the hollowing of the wind outside. Straying her ears she could make out a low hum... a hum that reminded her of ships sailing on the seas, of a vast ocean infinite in distance all around her.. like the siren call of a...
Bang!
She was knocked out of her thoughts as the sound of a car backfiring drove past, shacking her head and realizing what time she had wasted Taylor gathered her things and braved natures wrath one again. "Potato Soup it is" She thought as she started walked one again.
Unbeknownst to her and many other residents of the bay, if one were to follow the hum to the score they would find a ominous seen. That of three figures almost silently gliding on top of the water as the weather obscured there approach, the three had chalk white skin girls' draped in black that not even the deepest trenches could compare to, each with glowing blue eyes that held a grim determination. The first one in the lead was a teen who looked like she on the cusp of adulthood, long white hair falling like waterfalls from a black bulbus toothy hat along with a cape that concealed most of her body and holing a long walking cane make of obsidian, she had a almost Jellyfish like appearance. With the cane she motioned to the two behind her to line up as the three changed course towards a mass of rusted limp ships.
The three glided through the miniscule openings between the body's of the decayed ships that clogged the waters of the bay, at last the leader stepped onto the shore with some trepidation. Her second following her onto land and asked "I a̶̡̛̦̣͂̇̆̊͒m̶̢͇ in no position tò̶̢͇̬̘̋̃̽͋ question mam, but...?" she gestured with her giant hands to all the remnants of ocean vessels "Is s̸̼̣̥̽̅̂̊͜h̸̛̘̰̗͓̱̝́̑̀̆͋̈̏̊̆̕̕͝͝ͅȩ̸̧̭̠͕̫͔͍̺̬̠̤̍͜ really here," then she hastily added "Nǫ̷̢̲͎̮t̴̢͉̭̣ to-'"No no, its alright" the leader interrupted and reassured her in a almost ethereal voice, she could understand her subordinate's reluctance. "It is hard to imagen, but yes she is -Georgia! Stop eating the potential recruits!" she yelled to the third member, a small child with a cheep plastic party pirate hate, who was currently crunching through the bow of a ship barely poking out of the water. "I-I, sigh, could you grab her?" she asked the faceless woman who nodded and went to wrench the child-like one off of the rapidly dwindling material source.
Massaging her eyes in frustration she had pulled out a compass from her side, it was an ornately engraved bronze with accents of silver and covered in barnacles, engravings of sea monster and royal emblems decorated its surface as she opened the lid, it was "Something that has been lost for a very long time" she thought to herself as she watched the needle bounced around wildly as it was searching for something, until settling and pointing towards her left in what she knew was a southernly direction. The holder knew 'she' was near as it moved ever so slightly, "With any luck we will find them quickly" she said to no-one in particular as she glanced at the tattered sealed parchment at her side, debts must be payed after all. As the three stalked into the city unseen by anyone a odd sort of fog grew thicker masking there march, anyone except a lone skeletal man with bloodshot eyes which held little life, who staring at them, then promptly went back to smoking his crack and pulling out a cellphone.
Hours had past as Taylor returned home, and after a quick shower she had started the soup, it wasn't hard to make soup as if you make a mistake it just became a new type of soup. Well, most of the time. Eventually she herd her father's returned home as the sound of a old truck well beyond its years pulled up and the thunk of heavy footsteps echoed from the tarnished wooden stairs, "hay kido" he more muttered than spoke as he entered the house, the tiredness threating to force him to sleep there and then. "looks good.." he muttered his thanks to his daughter. The two ate dinner in a cold silence letting the warmth of the soup infiltrate into all parts of there body chasing away the cold of the day, the minutes rolled on with only the sound being the slurping as the tow intentionally or unintentionally ignored each other. Then there was a sharp knock at the door.
The two glanced at each other, it was late, no-one would come by for "just a friendly chat". The two tried quietly to move away from the door, Brocton wasn't the safest place by any stretch of the imagination, and the knock wasn't follow by anything but more knocks, no indication to what or whoever they wanted. Taylor watch as her dad grabbed his rarely used handgun as he tried to peak out the window while she subtly drew the army of bugs in the basement, just incase. She watched as her dads droopy if on edge demeanor change to that of shock and fear spotting whatever was outside, sending her even more on edge.
"Capes" he whispered, his voice laced with terror as he looked at her in the eyes, "Taylor get-"Hello?" a soft female voice came from behind the door, the two residents tried there best to stay still, hoping that they would go away.
"Hello, is anyone there? I would like to speak to you." the woman's voice came again as she continued knocking, Taylor for her part was preparing to unleash her armada of insects out of the basements' windows as her mind raced, Did the ABB want revenge? Was the Empire trying to recruit her? Merchants? she kept calm as she pored her emotions in to her bugs and became more coherent in her thoughts, the voice sounded more like Miss Militia, was it the wards? All these thoughts raced through her head as the knocking continued.
"Just break down the door" came a secant more childish voice that sounded like a ten year old
"You cant go breaking down and scraping anything that stands in your way" came a third much more distorted voice, that sounded as if it was coming out of a damaged speaker.
"Why not?" the child's voice replied with some amount of mirth, as if a frustrated child was asking there parents why they couldn't go on a roller-coaster for the third time in a row.
"That is not how y̵͔̭̗͆̃͒o̶͉͗̄͌ṵ̵̤̙̑͝ interact with p̸̛͕̲̈́ë̵̹̑opl̷̢̬̥e" the third voice sounded exasperated as if this wasn't the first time, the sound of something large and metallic shifting outside. "Mam, should we what for the morning?"
A sigh escaped the first voice as the sound of something closing was herd, "Were have our orders, and on a tight schedule" she paused as the sound of footsteps shifting outside "Unfortunately drastic actions must be taken." At that the houses inhabits hearts jumped to there thoughts.
"Yah!" the child exclaimed as the distorted voice lamented with a groan of static. Before the father and daughter could react the door was forced open with a mighty SLAM as the door was nearly broken off of its hinges as it hit the wall shaking the house.
"Taylor Hebert" Came the ethereal voice of the woman as she intruded into room, she was a stunning if a uncanny figure as she took a few steps on the floor that started to buckle under her. A almost supermodel like figure as she strode with a swagger of power and authority. It wasn't here odd attire or that of her companions that was the most striking, no it was there glowing blue eyes that priced into Taylors soul not letting her look away. The ghostly cape pulled out a old parchment from her side and unfurling it showing it writing to her, "Taylor Herbert, As a blood debt with your ancestor Louis Hebert in the year of the light 1604 that for safe passage across the Atlantic ocean," She went on...
"What?" Taylor thought not comprehending what was going on, Blood debt? Contract? What were these cape on?
"- and the debt must be payed." she continued as here eyes became harder, she then knelt down, bowing to her followed by her companions. "Taylor Hebert, from now on you will be our Admiral."
