Hello all! It has been quite a while since I have posted a story, and I've had so much time on my hands lately that I thought of writing this new story! Hope you all enjoy.
"I don't know," Lissa said, "sex with him is just not very, I don't know… fun." I looked up from my book. She continued, "It's very… vanilla."
"Vanilla." I repeated.
"Yeah, vanilla."
I pondered a moment on her statement. "My favorite ice cream flavor is vanilla."
"We aren't talking about ice cream here." She stood from her spot at the table, stretching out her arms to the sunny sky. Looking around at the other people on the quad, she said, "We are talking about something that is supposed to be savage, romantic," she stopped as she searched for another word. "Exciting."
"And sex with Aaron isn't that, I'm assuming?"
"Sex with Aaron is like having sex with a wall." She slumped back down into her seat. She rested her head on her hands and looked up at me. "How was it with Dimitri?" I tensed at the name. My book was suddenly a lot more interesting than Lissa.
"Sorry," She said hastily, "I know, sore topic." She fiddled with her thumb as I read the same sentence for the fifth time. "It's just been a while now, and at some point, you'll have to talk about it."
"What if I don't want to ever talk about it?"
"That's not very healthy."
"Who told you I was healthy?"
"I know for a fact you aren't. It's been a year and you haven't been able to talk about it."
"It's been 13 months. And maybe I just haven't wanted to talk about it."
"I'm surprised you didn't give me the exact number of days."
I laughed at the thought of something so ridiculous. Of course, I did know the exact number of days. I looked up from the book I wasn't reading anymore. Lissa stared at me expectantly.
"Sex with Dimitri was," I paused remembering how he used to run his hands over my body. "Exciting. Romantic." I smiled. "Savage."
Lissa rolled her eyes and sighed in exasperation. "Of course. You get a guy that's great in bed, but severely unreliable, and I get a guy who worships at my feet and is shit in bed. Can women ever win?"
"Dimitri was reliable," I defended.
She scoffed. "So reliable that he just disappeared?"
I stared at her for some time. What was I supposed to say to her? I knew she hadn't meant any harm, but that didn't mean it didn't hurt. She was right though. Dimitri had been very reliable, no one thought he would be, but he was. Up until the moment he just up and practically vanished into thin air.
I stood abruptly. Suddenly I wanted to be as far from Lissa and this conversation as possible.
"You can't keep avoiding this, Rose!" Lissa yelled after me.
You can't stop me from trying, I thought.
Thank you all so much for reading. Please leave a review!
