Sorry that this one is a bit late but I didn't have time to post yesterday with the EURO finals on, unfortunately England didn't win, we were pipped at the post by Italy on penalties, but I wont bore you with the details, needless to say it was a late night and its been a long, slightly hungover day.
To apologise here is a slightly longer chapter, from here on out they will be a little intermittant, some will be fairly long, other will be shorter, it just depends on the luck of the draw with them.
Needless to say, please enjoy and as always, if you could take a minute to leave a review I would be ever so grateful. I love recieving reviews, they are my favourite part of writing.

It was Arizona's first day as an intern and to say she was nervous was an understatement. Nervous yet completely confident in her abilities. She smiled at Bailey as she entered the changing rooms and began to put on her light blue scrubs followed by her doctor's coat and stethoscope.
Another week had passed seeing Callie remain in the hospital and Arizona had not left her side until today. Today was a big day for all as not only was Arizona starting her internship, Callie was being released at some point. She would still have to spend a lot of time around the hospital getting check-ups and doing physical therapy but she was finally being released and Arizona was torn about being ecstatic of her new job and disappointed that she wouldn't be around to escort Callie home. She had a twenty-four hour shift ahead of her which meant she wouldn't get to see the Latina until tomorrow at the earliest.
Once Bailey had assigned the interns to their residents, Arizona's day began to fly. Her resident was Dr Sloan who was in his final year of his fellowship in plastics and a man she had grown to respect a great deal. He was fantastic with Callie which is exactly what she needed, a male who she could trust. So to say she was happy about her pairing was an understatement. Sloan had taken no time at all in nicknaming his five interns, her nickname being blondie which made her cringe but he only called her it when the other interns were around.
"Blondie you're with me, the rest of you go find some charts to read" Sloan ordered at a little after lunch time. Arizona smiled when she realised where the tall doctor was leading her and soon found herself in Callie's room.
"Torres. I'm here to sign you off for leaving, ignore my intern she follows me around like a bad smell" Mark winked at the Latina who was smiling at Arizona.
"Look at you in your scrubs Dr Robbins" Callie grinned.
"Not too shabby hey" Arizona beamed.
"Ok, so we both know you know her charts better than anyone else so I won't bother testing you, were just here to double check everything and sign off on the chart so she can be released." Mark pulled a chair over to Callie's bedside and sat in it and offered a playful smile to his patient.
"Well, aren't you going to check me?" Callie asked after a few moments.
"Nah it's been hell today running around and showing these interns around I thought I'd just take a little break. Tell me how do you feel?"
"How do I feel? Aren't you the plastics guy?" Callie scoffed softly, feeling a lot more comfortable around the man who had spent hours over the past few weeks entertaining her and Arizona.
"Well the bruising seems to be fading, the swelling has gone down considerably and you look like your able to move your face a bit easier now so I would say my job here is done" Sloan smirks as he links his fingers behind his head and leans back in the chair.
"Yeah it doesn't hurt as much when I smile now" Callie admits.
"Ok then, that's good. Now if you wouldn't mind me checking under your gown, I'd like to check your incision sites" Mark offers a careful smile as Callie slowly swings herself on the bed and lifts the gown up.
"These look great, there should be minimal scarring once they have finished healing, I'm going to send you home with some balm that will help the healing process but I'm confident in a year you will barely be able to tell they are even there."
"That sounds good the less reminders I have the better" Callie admits shyly as she pulls down her gown.
"Ok Torres, your officially signed off by plastics. Now just because your breaking free of this joint doesn't mean we don't want to see you around. Feel free to have me paged when you're here for physio and check-ups and we can catch up over a coffee. I'm going to miss our little chats" Mark said as he jumped up from the chair and reached into his lab coat pocket. "Now here is my personal cell number, I want you to call me if you need anything, help, advice, to chat. You name it and I'm your man" He offered over a piece of paper with his cell number scribbled on it.
"Thanks Mark. And thank you for everything you've done for me" Callie offered sheepishly.
"Ok then, blondie I'll meet you at the pit in ten minutes" Mark winked as he left the room to sign off on Callie's chart.
"How did you manage to bag Sloan as your resident?" Callie asked after the man was out of hearing distance.
"I dunno I think I must be lucky. I could do without him calling me blondie every two minutes though" Arizona cringed.
"How's your first day going?"
"Everything we dreamed it would be and better, I still have another nineteen hours to go though so ask me again tomorrow when I'm exhausted" Arizona grinned.
"Ouch, nineteen hours to go. That's like a week in hospital time"
"Don't remind me, I'm looking forward to visiting you in a house and not in this stupid room"
"Trust me I'm looking forward to not being stuck in this room. It's like I went from one prison cell to another"
"Your on the home straight now, just keep focussing on the fact your breaking free of this joint today"
"Yeah your right"
"Robbins come on I've just been paged to the pit I need you with me" Mark said as he popped his head back in the door hole.
"OK coming. I will see you tomorrow... not in hospital" Arizona grinned when Callie offered a none too usual smile.
-oOo-
"Mija, are you ready to go home?" Carlos asked as he entered the room with a small duffel bag to put Callies meagre belongings in.
"Yeah" Callie offered dejectedly.
"What's wrong Mija, you're getting out of this place you should be happy"
"I am... I just... I'm a little nervous"
"Don't worry about a thing. Your mom has made your room up for you and I have a gift for you" Carlos rifled through the duffel bag until he found what he was looking for a produced a Samsung cell phone, he offered it to the younger woman who accepted it with shaking hands. "I've already input mine and your moms numbers in it, as well as Barb and Daniels and of course Arizona's."
"Thankyou Daddy. It's very thoughtful of you. I have no idea how to use it but I'm sure I will work it out" Callie smiled softly.
"Now lets get you packed up. Do you have your medications yet?"
"Yes they dropped them off about an hour ago, they are all on the bedside table. Did you bring me anything to change into?" Callie asked nervously not wanting to leave the hospital in the gown.
"Theres some clothes in this bag. your mom did some shopping and said when you feel up to it, she will take you out to buy some more" Carlos offered as he unpacked the duffel bag onto the bed. "Now you go get changed and I will pack up your stuff"
Callie picked up the small pile of clothing and moved into the adjoining toilet to change, as she took in the items she couldn't help but smile. There was a pair of yoga pants, a tshirt, a pair of knickers and a bra as well as a pair of socks and tennis shoes. All brand new, all not covered in blood stains or rips from age, she felt like a traitor having such luxurious items but she couldn't help but stare at herself in the mirror after she had dressed. She looked almost normal in these clothes. Her eyes met her own in the mirror for the briefest of seconds before she looked away in shame. The clothes may be new and lacking in memories of her past life but her eyes still held all the pain and humiliation.
She exited the bathroom to find her father just packing the last of her get well cards into the bag.
"Ready Mija?"
"I think so"
"Torres, I'm here to escort you out" Bailey smiled as she entered the room and did a double take of the Latina in front of her. "You look great in normal clothes" Bailey added with a smile.
"Thanks... it feels weird having something so new to wear" Callie admitted then glanced at the wheel chair that Bailey was pushing.
"Sorry its hospital policy, all patients leave by wheelchair" Bailey offered. "Come on now, let's get you out of here"
Bailey pushed Callie through the halls as Carlos walked beside them as they neared the pit a flash of blonde hair caught the Latinas attention and Arizona froze at the sight before her. They offered each other a smile and a wave before Arizona was pulled back into the mayhem surrounding her.
Once outside Callie was allowed to rise from the wheelchair onto shaky legs, this was the first time in over three years that she had been outside and it was... scary. She couldn't help but look around at all the faces surrounding her expecting to see Earl ready to take her back to her prison, but he wasn't there. She felt the beginnings of a panic attack starting and clutched at her chest.
"Just breath Torres, its ok" Bailey soothed as she noticed the brunettes laboured breathing and obvious distress.
"I'm ok... I'm ok" Callie offered a small smile before closing her eyes and taking a deep breath of fresh air. It felt good so she took another, and then another and then she opened her eyes to find two sets of eyes on her. "I'm ok" she repeated sounding a little more convincing this time.
"Do you want to wait here while I get the car?" Carlos offered hoping that Dr Bailey would wait with his daughter till he returned.
"No I think I would like to walk" Callie smiled before turning to Dr Bailey. "Thank you, for everything"
"Don't mention it, it's my pleasure. Now you stay safe and I hope to only see you for good reasons from now on"
"Yeah I hope so too" With a final smile the two Torres' set off towards the car park at a slow stroll, Callie just enjoying the freedom as well as her aching body slowing her down. Finally they reached the luxury sedan that was Carlos' car and before long they were sitting in the Miami traffic on their way home.
Home.

'Hey this is Callie, this is my number' Callie typed slowly on her new phone with one hand as she sat in the back garden of her parents' home with her mother and father.
"So I looked into changing your name legally, it's not a hard process, just a few forms to fill in and some administration costs to pay and you can legally be a Torres again" Carlos offered. "I have the forms inside already filled in they just need your signatures and I will post them off for you"
"Thanks daddy. I can't wait to be rid of that name... I'm sorry"
"Sorry for what?" Lucia asks confused.
"That I married him behind your backs"
"Oh, Mija don't be silly, it's in the past now. We just care that your safe and away from him now"
The vibrating in her hand caused Callie to look down at her phone to see she had a new message.
'Hello jailbreak this is your best friend, glad to see you've gotten some new technology' Callie couldn't help but smile.
'it's going to take some getting used to. Its touch screen' Callie typed out.
"Sorry, that's Arizona."
"Thats ok dear. Now I spoke to the lawyer and they said that under the circumstances you won't need to attend court to finalise the divorce even if he contests it. But there is some bad news, you will need to attend court for his trial and its likely they will put you on the stand, but I don't want you to worry about it"
"ok"
"OK?"
"Well I knew I would have to face him some time, I knew I couldn't just be rid of him for good"
"You are rid of him, the court case is just a means to make sure he's gone for good"
"yeah I guess" Callie answered unconvincingly.
Callie glanced down as the small phone buzzed in her hand.
'look at you with your touch screen, you will have to show me it tomorrow. God its manic here and Sloan has already hit on the other two women in his group... I don't know whether I'm happy he's not tried to pick me up or whether I feel left out lol'
'so Addie was right he is a player'
"Sorry Arizona again."
"Mija its ok, you don't need to tell us who you're talking to that's your business" Lucia offered with a smile.
-oOo-
"Hey"
"Hey, wow you look like shit"
"Hey Arizona thanks for coming to visit before you go home to sleep after a twenty-four-hour shift" Arizona teased.
"Sorry" Callie offered meekly.
"Don't be, I'm just kidding. I smell like shit too"
"Charming"
"Hey you try working twenty-four hours straight in a stuffy hospital"
"I looked over the enrolment forms today"
"And?"
"and I'm just not ready"
"Thats ok, Drews will be waiting for you when you are ready term doesn't start for a few weeks anyway"
"Youve got your heart set on this don't you"
"We can't tease Tim about being a dog doctor when you're not a doctor, and it's just not as much fun winding him up without you"
"When's he coming back anyway?"
"Hes back next week, he's bringing his girlfriend home to meet the parents"
"Tim has a girlfriend?"
"They've been together over a year, she's nice you will like her"
"Youve met her?
"I met her when I visited Tim during spring break last year"
"How was Colorado?"
"Meh. I have no idea why he chose Colorado to study but it's his choice. He can't wait to see you"
"Yeah it will be good to see him again. Does he know?"
"Yeah I told him. Had to talk him out of flying back to beat the shit out of Earl"
"I signed the paperwork today to change my name back and the lawyers said I shouldn't need to go to court if he contests it because of the circumstances... but I will probably have to see him at his trial."
"Well you know I will be there to support you, whatever you need"
"Can you testify for me so I don't have to?"
"I mean I could but don't you want the satisfaction of seeing him being carted away to a tiny cell for the rest of his life?"
"I don't ever want to see him again"
"Maybe they could do one of those video testimonies"
"Maybe. I will ask my dad about it and see what the lawyer says"
"Well if you have to testify, I will be there and I'm sure mom and dad will too as well as Carlos and Lucia."
"That means they will have to hear everything I went through, I'm not sure I want that"
"Well they can wait in the foyer, its whatever you feel comfortable with Cal"
"I'm not comfortable with any of this"
"I know, but you know what I mean"
"Yeah"
"How's the morning sickness?"
"Still kicking my butt"
"I'm sorry you have to go through that"
"it is what it is, I'm coming to terms with it. I never got this far into a pregnancy before so this is all new to me"
"Well as long as you and little bub are healthy and safe that's all that matters"
"Yeah your right. So tell me about today"
"It was amazing and horrible all at the same time. Twenty-four-hour shifts should not be a thing but doing actual doctor stuff was amazing. I even sat in the observation room when Sloan did a surgery, when you feel up to it I will sneak you in to see one., it's amazing"
"So did Sloan end up hitting on you?"
"No but he got Linzi's number, she's one of the other new girls on his team. I think she thinks if she sleeps with him she will get special treatment"
"Classy. You go Linzi"
"I know right. God I missed this"
"What?"
"Debriefing you on my day. Just talking to you. I was starting to think you were gone for good"
"so was I. I couldn't see a way out of that place that wasn't in a body bag"
"You almost were"
"I hate him"
"I hate him too"
"No I really hate him. I used to think hate was such a strong word that was underestimated, but then I met him... I don't even want to say his name because I hate him so much... now it's just like this ball of fury in my stomach that I can't get rid of"
"Did you tell Dr Warner this?"
"No I don't want her to think I'm becoming a sociopath because of what I've been through"
"She won't think that. I don't think that and you told me"
"Your different. Your Arizona I can tell you anything but her, she's judging me and writing little notes when I talk. I'd love to know what she is writing. No wait maybe I'm better not knowing"
"Cal she's not judging you and she's making notes because that's what therapists do. It's to remember answers you've given so you're not going over the same thing each session. It helps her so it's helping you. But I do think you need to tell her about your ball of fury"
"I'll think about it, that's the best you're going to get"
"ok I accept that, anyway I should head back to Costa Del Robbins and get some sleep"
"ok, sleep well"
"Oh I will trust me, only a twelve hour shift tomorrow"
"Sucks to be you"
"after twenty four hours, a twelve hour day seems like heaven" Arizona grinned.
