Chapter 5: Sugar Rush
The Akuma ended the festivities of the day early and the group of friends had expected Gabriel to drop the sleepover because of it, so they were surprised when he'd given Adrien permission to spend the night.
Of course, this was followed by squeals of excitement as the girls carried Alya and Nino's overnight bags up to her chaise. When Nino had tried to follow them, Alya had made a point of reaching into her bag and pulling out a tampon claiming they had "girl business" to take care of. That garnered a deep blush from Nino before he gave her a chaste kiss with promises of back rubs before stepping into the hall while Adrien texted Nathalie the list of items to throw together in his overnight bag. Plagg who'd been mercilessly scream-whispering Camembert, zipped back into Adrien's pocket with a low grumble.
As soon as the girls got into Mari's room they giggled as Tikki phased out of her dollhouse to greet Alya and then Trixx. The rest of the Kwamis followed in suit of Tikki and shot out from their home within Miracle Box's portal excitedly vying for Alya's attention.
Marinette facepalmed knowing how hard it would be getting all of the miniature gods back into their alternate dimension. She knew it must grow old being stuck in there together for eons with so few topics to discuss and she really did try to let them out as much as possible, but she also knew how loud they could get and didn't want to rouse suspicion from Adrien, Nino, or her parents.
"Alright guys I hate to do this but back into the box you go," she let them down softly.
"What," Fluff groaned.
"Awe man.." Daizzi sighed.
"But we just got here…"
"But Trixx and Tikki get to stay!" Pollen buzzed around the room in frustrated loops.
"Yeah that's not fair—"
They tried to give the girls the classic Kwami puppy dog eyes— a trick Barkk had proudly taught them. After Alya whispered something about wishing Kwamis could be photographed, Marinette held firm to her resolve.
"Back in the box guys, I'm sorry."
"Why, though?" Sass finally asked.
"Adrien and Nino are spending the night and while Nino is Wayzz's charge—" Wayzz bristled happily at the mention of his wielder and friend being here, "— neither he nor Adrien knows Marinette is Ladybug and the Guardian. So for tonight no group Kwamis Against Humanity games or Simpsons marathons, sorry guys. But the next girls night Mari and I have, we can do all of that stuff, I promise," Alya chuckled.
As each Kwami filled back into the portal, Alya turned to see that Marinette had finished taking down every Adrien related poster in her room with the exception of a few candid photos of her friends in which he was included.
She took a deep breath subconsciously tugging her sagging skirt back over her belly.
"Alright, drinks— check. Food— check. Pastries— check. Sleeping bags— check. What else—"
"Condoms— check," Alya added with an amused grin plastered on her face.
"Alya!!" Marinette screeched, slapping her palms to her cheeks. She paced back and forth across her room ready to tear her hair out.
"Just saying… girl, are you okay? You seem kinda jumpy," the fox interrogated like a true journalist.
"Haha jumpy? Me? Never! Er— I mean what makes you ask?" The raven haired girl tripped over her words in a true Marinette fashion.
"Is it because Adrien's here and you didn't have at least 48 hours notice to process it and prepare?" She squinted her eyes at her hopelessly in love best friend.
It wasn't like this was Marinette's first sleepover with Nino and Adrien involved. In fact, Marinette and Nino, being inseparable best friends since preschool, had had tons of sleepovers before she'd even met Alya. And yes, recently Adrien had been granted permission to join their sleepovers as often as he was allowed.
But while Alya knew that at 18 years old Marinette had made progress in getting over Adrien (and was no longer the obsessed lovesick stalker she was at 13), she could still get tripped up if she didn't have time to mentally prepare herself before seeing him.
Little did Alya know this wasn't about their supermodel friend but rather a strikingly handsome alley cat who might just find his way into her bed.
But not tonight. She had to find a way to get the message across before one of Paris's famous heros crashed their slumber party.
Before she could devise a plan her nostrils picked up on this incredible waft of what she was sure was her dad's famous deep dish double chocolate brownies with hot fudge drizzled over the top.
Despite being way overstuffed after already having pigged out on at least four times the recommended daily caloric intake, her stomach groaned in anticipation like a Pavlovian dog.
Right on cue there was a light tap at the door before Nino entered with two enormous trays of the buttery gooey goodness and an ecstatic Adrien who'd probably had never had a brownie before.
Prior conversation forgotten, Marinette and Alya immediately ran to each take a tray and neatly set them out on Marinette's desk.
They plopped down, each donning their own proper controller before diving into their Ultimate Mecha Strike III tournament that had become a ritual for their sleepovers.
After each stuffing themselves with four of the thick rich brownies, Alya, Nino, and Adrien were relatively stuffed (and Adrien had the closest thing to a food baby he'd probably ever had, which they affectionately dubbed Gabriel).
Marinette on the other hand had to keep telling herself that she simply couldn't just gorge herself in front of her friends. Instead she tried her best to eat whatever they ate, to adjust her portions to their portions, and rely on them for some sense of normalcy.
Her self control lasted about five minutes before she found herself losing a match of UMS because she'd been so focused on stealing peeks of the chocolatey dessert next to her.
Finally Alya paused the game and all of them turned their gaze to the young designer.
"If you want another one, just take it," Nino chuckled, breaking the silence.
"…"
Their smiles changed to concerned looks for their friend as they regarded the unease of her visage.
"'Nettie?" Nino gently laid a hand on her shoulder.
She looked up into his warm woody eyes sparing a glance for Alya, who seemed to sympathize with her, and Adrien, who sported a look of concern for her.
He wanted to scoop her up in his arms and plant sweet kisses all over her face, collarbone, and neck until her insecurities disappeared. He wanted to give her soothing back rubs and run his fingers through those silky pigtails of hers.
But of course these were things that he could only offer her as Chat. She never seemed completely at ease around him as Adrien, but when she was with Chat it was as if someone had flipped a switch. She was vulnerable, sassy, goofy, yet confident. She was unapologetically herself.
She took a deep breath as if pushing away her emotions and shifted to face her friends.
"Alright the truth is I'm trying to lose weight so I'm trying to stay on a diet. But…" she trailed off playing with her fingertips.
"But you clearly don't want to..?" Adrien offered.
Admittedly he hoped it was true. If he could have it his way, he'd surround his princess with all kinds of tempting treats to nibble on and— if she'd let him— feed them to her.
Over the past couple of days at school he'd be blind to have missed the way her jeans tightly hugged her widening hips. The extra pastries had also done wonders for her breasts, he tried in vain to cover his blush at the sinful thought. And he'd be lying if he said he didn't lay awake at night lusting over the way her cute muffin top of a belly poked out from under her shirt.
"I- I don't know…" She whispered.
"Mari, if you think a little weight gain makes you any less beautiful, you're wrong. In fact you've got some killer curves and an ass to die for. So if you don't want to lose any weight, then don't. If you like to eat brownies, then eat as many as you want. Right guys?" Alya smiled around the room at the boys who eagerly reciprocated with nods of confirmation.
"Yeah 'Nettie, no one here is judging you. We're your friends. We'll support you no matter what," Nino reassured.
Adrien, who was still blushing too much to say anything, offered a heartfelt smile that made Mari's cerulean eyes sparkle with confidence. She reached for another brownie and they gamed and watched original Netflix series' late into the night until both brownie trays were empty and his princess looked as if she was nine months pregnant.
It was a sight to behold. Over the soft snoring of Nino and Alya— dead to the world, snuggled up on Marinette's chaise lounge— he watched as his princess struggled to bend over to grab a blanket and drape it over the sleeping couple. Her bloated belly seemed to get in the way of things. He was surprised she was even up and moving with how stuffed she looked.
And that led him back to the reoccurring thought he'd been having all night… would it be weird if he offered her belly rubs as Adrien.
After she settled back down next to him in their sleeping bags she shut off the TV and met his sparkling peridot eyes with her sapphire ones. He could've sworn he saw a ghost of a blush creep over her cheeks, but it was gone as soon as it had come so he could never be sure.
Mari clutched her belly and let out a little grunt of discomfort. A mixture of growing pains and the result of gorging herself like a pig had left her tum rather achy.
Oh how she wished Chat were there to offer to her his magic claws that seemed capable of soothing any bellyache.
But as she caught her old crush sparing a glance at her rather rounded exposed belly, a pang of embarrassed arousal washed over her and forced her to examine the possibility that she was not nearly as over her feelings for Adrien as she'd thought.
She slowly pressed her fingertips in soothing circles across her abdomen biting her lip to keep her from letting out soft moans as the pressure was alleviated.
Adrien, who'd been trying so hard to look away finally lost all will power and turned to grab her wrist.
She looked at him with her lips in a startled "O" as he placed his palm on top of her bloated belly where her fingers had been kneading only moments ago.
"Please…" his face scorched with the heat of a thousand suns, "… allow me..?"
When she didn't push him away, he set to work carefully caressing his Princess's swollen gut. Everytime his thoughts tried to wander he'd had to gently remind himself that Marinette was just a friend and that she'd never see him that way.
After minutes of silence she finally loosened up from her tense stance to squeak out, "T-Thanks, Adrien."
He smiled and bit his tongue to hold back from the flirtatious reply he'd had quipped for Chat Noir. But he was Adrien right now, he reminded himself.
So in true Adrien fashion he responded with, "That's what friends are for."
End of Chapter 5.
