A/N

Hello People, apologies for the late posting. Ive been off work sick so managed to get a few more chapters written (baby has just been born where im writing) so im currently snuggled up on the couch under a blanket working on this fic with my puppy snuggled into my feet.

For those asking if this is Calzona endgame... it absolutely is, but im trying to be realistic to the story line, after what Callie went through she wouldnt just jump into a relationship with someone else, its going to take time and trust for her and Arizona to get together... have faith. I have already written how they get together so its coming up in about... maybe 8 chapters.

Time for a bit of a time jump to progress the story along, i didnt want to write every little detail about Callie and Arizona's life, it would be boring writing it and im sure it would be boring reading. Coming up in this chapter, a bit of good news and a bit of bad news. I hope you enjoy.

as always please leave a review, i read every single one of them and they are life. especially when im feeling so sick and low, they help the old morale! so please take an extra minute from your day and tell me what you think to this chapter :)

Three months had passed since Tim had arrived home and a lot had happened in those months yet not much had changed at all.

Tim and Claire had stayed at Tim's parents house for a couple of weeks before deciding they needed their own space and had moved into one of the houses Carlos and Lucia owned further down the street. Tim had gotten an internship at a local vetinerary surgery not too far from the hospital and was acing everything thrown at him. Claire had chosen a smaller practise a little further out of town that specialised in equine vetinerary and although she hadn't spent much time with Callie, the two were becoming fast friends.

Arizona was smashing her internship, she had already declared Pead's as her specialty and although she had to do rotations on the other specialities she was already making a name for herself in the Pead's department. She was the go to intern for any case child related and Mark was happy to assist her in her career path by putting her on any child related case that came his way. The way the woman interacted with the children and soothed them was second to none and even Chief Webber had applauded her on the way she was handling her intern year as well as all the personal stuff she was juggling as well.

Callie had been going strength to strength with her confidence and had even made some tentative friends at med school. At twenty weeks she was finally starting to show and had announced to her new friends that she was pregnant but the father wasn't in the picture anymore. She hadn't told them about what she had endured at Earls hands and they had the decency to not grill her on the subject. They knew she was weird around new people and had confidence issues but she was a part of their group so they got used to her tendencies and the fact that she never joined them when they went out drinking, when she announced her pregnancy they put it down to that, not knowing that she was uncomfortable being around drunk people she didn't trust fully.

There wasn't many people she did trust fully but Arizona was of course the main one of the people she did. Then there was Tim and her growing friendship with Claire. Her parents as well as Barb and Dan, then there was Mark and Addison who she had solidified a firm bond with since being in hospital all of those weeks. Derek and Owen were very tentative, She had joined Arizona and the gang at Joe's a dozen or so times over the past few months and had met the two men about half of those times and they both seemed lovely, although she was slightly less confident around them.

Mark had almost completed his fellowship year in plastics and was soon to be double board certified in ENT and plastics, something he was very proud of. He had kept in touch with the Latina mainly through messages through the week. When she came in for her weekly scan, psychology and physio appointments on a Wednesday afternoon they would try to meet up for a coffee before or after the appointment and Mark would fill her in on the gossip going around the hospital.

Today was the day of Callie's twenty week scan and the day she would hopefully be finding out if she was carrying a boy or a girl if the little baby she was carrying decided to play ball and lie in the right position. She had been keeping every scan photo from every week in a little journal and she was loving being able to see the small changes in her little bub. As more weeks had passed the more confident she grew in her pregnancy and she was now almost certain she would be keeping the baby, despite the lingering fears that the baby would come out as a mini Earl.

She pulled her black golf into a parking space and made her way into the hospital, she had been at school since eight that morning and was feeling a little lethargic so took her time walking to the entrance. As she walked through the door Arizona was stood waiting for her with a beaming smile. It was an exciting day for both women.

"Are you ready?" Arizona called out the second their eyes met.

"How much coffee have you had?" Callie laughed softly as she watched her best friend bouncing on her toes in excitement.

"Not enough" Arizona frowned for a second before the smile overtook her face again. She reached out for Callie's hand, took it in her own and guided her towards the room Addison always used for their Wednesday check ups. Bar one or two that Arizona couldn't make due to work commitments, the blonde had attended every appointment with the brunette and was addicted to seeing how this little one was growing each week.

"Addison you're here already" Arizona grinned as she entered the small room and found the red headed woman waiting for them.

"I've had a quiet morning so I thought I would come and get set up. I'm excited to find out whether it's a boy or a girl" Addison announced as she turned her smile to Callie. "Hey how are you doing, you look tired?"

"I'm ok, just school is kicking my ass" Callie admitted as she made her way to the table and disconnected her hands with Arizona's so she could lift her shirt. Her baby bump coming into full view now, once finished she reached out for Arizona's hand once more.

Addison prepared the machine and got down to business squirting the gel on Callie's bump, and moving the wand into position.

"Are we still wanting to find out the sex today?" Addie asked Callie but giggled when both Callie and Arizona answered in the affirmative.

"Ok good because I already know and I'd hate to have to keep it a secret from you both... well Callie I'm proud to say you're having..."

"Come on Addie don't leave us hanging" Arizona almost screamed at the women who would be her boss in the Pead's ward.

"It's a girl" Addie grinned as she took in the beaming faces. She pointed to the scan on the little monitor and pointed out a few things to the two enamoured women before taking some measurements. "Baby is looking healthy, we can see her bones, heart, brain, spinal cord, face, kidneys and abdomen and all look just perfect" Addison gushed towards the expectant mother.

"I'm having a girl" Callie muttered after a few moments once the shock had left her system. "Thank christ for that"

"What do you mean?" Arizona asked cautiously.

"I was terrified it was going to be a boy" Callie admitted as she squeezed the hand within her own to gather some strength before continuing "I thought if it was a boy it would be more likely to be like him... Earl, I just... I feel so relieved that it's a girl"

"A beautiful little girl that's going to look just like her mama" Arizona cooed.

"What if she looks like him?" Callie asked sadly.

"Well in four weeks we can do a 3D scan, she won't be fully developed but at least you will get an idea of what she looks like and it will hopefully settle these nerves" Arizona said then glanced at Addie to make sure she hadn't overstepped.

"Correct Dr Robbins, We can schedule you in for a 3D scan if you'd like Cal?" Addie asked kindly.

"I would love that. God I hope she doesn't look like him"

"She won't, she's going to look just like you, absolutely beautiful" Arizona said, tightening her hold on the tanned hand inside her own to give some strength to the brunette.

After their appointment, Callie and Arizona went their separate ways with a quick hug, Callie to go to her physio appointment and Arizona to go back to work. She met up with Mark who was stood chatting up a nurse at the nurses station and rolled her eyes at his charm.

"Robbins, your back. That was quick is everything ok?" Mark asked worriedly the second he saw her.

"Yes Dr Sloan, I'm smiling because its bad news. Jeez learn to read the room" Arizona scoffed as she sidled beside him and smiled towards the nurse he had just been chatting up, she had to give it to the man he had impeccable taste in women.

"So everything is all good?" Mark asked again hopefully. He of course knew that today was the day Callie would be finding out the sex of the baby all being well.

"Little baby Torres is doing just fine" Arizona grinned back at him. He was easily the biggest gossip in the hospital and she knew if she let him in on the sex of the baby he would spread it around quicker than wildfire.

"Ahh come on Robbins, you've gotta tell me" Mark begged.

"Nope, absolutely not. If Cal wants you to know she will tell you herself, otherwise you're just going to have to wait for the baby shower like everybody else" Arizona grinned at him, which only served to annoy him more.

"How come you don't have to wait for the baby shower. Plus Addison knows... come on just tell me" Mark grumbled.

"I know because I'm her best friend... you on the other hand are just some tag along she cant shake off" Arizona laughed at the pissed off look she received.

"Best friend... sure" Mark mumbled under his breath but not quiet enough for Arizona to miss.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Arizona asked, placing her hands on her hips and glaring at her boss.

"It's just, don't think I haven't noticed the looks you two give each other. And the hand holding, what's with that... you don't see me and Sheperd holding hands and we are best friends..." Mark trailed off as Arizona's nostrils began to flare.

"Dr Sloan, in case you hadn't noticed Calliope has been through a traumatic experience. If she needs to hold my hand to get through something there is no way in hell am I going to turn her down, I will give her whatever she needs to get through this. Just because your mind lives in the gutter doesn't mean there is anything going on between us and I really don't appreciate your implication" Arizona spun on her heel and stormed away.

Why was she so bothered by what stupid Mark thought anyway, after all he knew nothing about their history he was just making stupid assumptions that he had no right making. And what looks, there hadn't been any looks between the two of them, they were friends and only friends and Mark could swivel if he thought she would act any differently around her best friend just because Mark thought everyone was having sex with everyone else. Fuck him and his stupid smirk.

"Mami, Papa... I'm home" Callie called into the quiet house when she finally got home from the hospital. To say she was exhausted was an understatement. She had felt lethargic going into the hospital but between the physio appointment zapping the last of her energy and the psychology appointment draining her mentally she just wanted to crawl into bed and sleep.

"In here Mija" Lucia called out from the kitchen where a delicious smell was coming from.

"Mmm something smells good, what's for dinner?" Callie asked as she made her way over to the stove to inspect the contents of the pan. It was her mothers home made chilli, something she had not eaten for years and to say she was excited was an understatement.

"There's some mail for you on the sideboard and I spoke to your sister today, School is finished next week so she will be home but I should warn you she is still a little upset about the whole ordeal. She can't seem to get it through that stubborn head of hers that you didn't disappear on purpose. I think you need to phone her and talk to her, explain what happened"

Callie smiled timidly at her mother as she picked up the post.

"Mami, I tried talking to her and she didn't want a bar of me, I can't help it if her heads too far up her ass to listen to sense" Callie grumbled.

"Calliope she is hurting, she was young when you disappeared. For Aria she went from having her big sister around all the time to radio silence. She won't listen to reason at the moment, she needs to hear from you what happened" Lucia treaded carefully, she really didn't want her daughters to be angry with each other but that was where this was heading if they didn't speak soon. When Callie didn't answer, she glanced up from her laptop screen to see an official looking letter and a very pale face. "Mija what is it?"

"Earls trial... its set for two weeks tomorrow and I have to attend as the key witness"
