Here's yet another story that I haven't worked on in a long time. I need to start working on these stories more often. Hello, everypony! Welcome to the next chapter of the first ever Zootopia and Higurashi crossover, "Zootopia: When They Cry". Last chapter, we got to see Rena being in Nick's childhood. We also saw Nick get his Junior Ranger Scouts uniform and Rena get a dress, a cap, and we saw Nick's mom got a hatchet from an antique store. What will happen in this chapter? Let's find out shall we? Also, spoiler alert, this chapter is gonna get pretty gruesome. Disclaimer: I DO NOT own "Zootopia" or "Higurashi: When They Cry". All rights go to their respective owners.

Chapter 8: WAKE UP!

It had been a great night for young Nick Wilde. First he got a new big sister, and then he finally got his chance to be in the Junior Ranger Scouts. He ran all the way to the meeting place, his heart full of joy. When he got there, he went up the steps and into the building. Once inside, he walked downstairs and arrived at the meeting where five prey kids were waiting for him. There was a woodchuck, a zebra, a hippo, a yak, and a deer. They greeted the young fox boy with smiles.

"Okay, Nick." Said the woodchuck, "Ready for initiation?"

"Yeah. Pretty much born ready." Said Nick.

He walked to the boys and double high-fives the zebra. The woodchuck snapped his fingers and the lights went out all of a sudden. He then got a flashlight and shined it on Nick's face.

"Okay. Now raise your right paw and deliver the oath." He said.

Nick did so.

"I, Nicholas Wilde, promise to be brave, loyal, helpful, and trustworthy." He said.

The woodchuck suddenly got an angry look.

"Even though you're a fox?"

Nick's expression went from joyful to shocked.

"What?"

The woodchuck turned off the light and pushed the little fox to the floor. The boys then held him down on his back while he was asking what he did wrong. The woodchuck then pulled out a muzzle and placed it over Nick's mouth. The boys then let him go.

"If you thought we would ever trust a fox without a muzzle, you're even dumber than you look." Said the woodchuck.

Meanwhile back at the Wilde house, Rena and Mikayla were just getting finished making dinner and dessert. Rena helped cook the pizza and bake the blueberry pie. The duo looked at their work with pride.

"We sure did one heck of a good job. Didn't we, Mikayla?" Rena asked.

The vixen nodded.

"We sure did, Rena. And I have to say, you're a remarkably good cook." She said.

Rena chuckled.

"You're not so bad yourself." She said.

They both laughed. They heard the door open and turned to the doorway. When they did, their expressions went from happy to shocked. They saw little Nick standing in the doorway bawling his eyes out. Mikayla and Rena quickly walked towards him. Mikayla pulled her son into a hug while Rena gently stroked his head. Nick cried into his mom's chest.

"Oh no. Nick, what happened?" Rena asked.

"I... I..."

"Sh sh sh. It's okay, Nicky. Just tell us what happened." Said Mikayla.

Nick wiped away his tears.

"Well... *sniff* I went to the Junior Ranger Scouts meeting building and I went inside." Nick began, "The first kid asked me if I was ready for initiation and I said yes. Then the lights went off and the kid shined a flashlight in my face and told me to deliver the oath which I did. But then... *sniff* I realized they wouldn't let me join because I'm a fox."

The vixen and the girl looked at each other sadly then back at the little fox.

"But that's not all. To top it off, they also put... a muzzle on me!"

Nick held up the muzzle in his paw, showing it to the girls. Mikayla took it from her son and looked it over. Rena instantly became angry. Her little brother just wanted to be a part of a pack and this is how they treat him just because he's a fox? How dare they! Mikayla then got angry as well.

"Why those foul, loathsome, evil little... bastards!" She said.

She hugged her crying son again.

"What are we gonna do?" Nick asked through his tears.

His mother looked at him sternly.

"I'll tell you what we're gonna do." She said, "We're gonna call the scout master and tell him what they've done. After that, we'll tell their parents. Not only will they be kicked out of the Junior Ranger Scouts, but I have a feeling they will be grounded for a long time. Right, Rena?"

Mikayla turned to her left only to see that Rena was gone. She was shocked and confused.

"Rena?"

She looked around and called Rena's name but there was no answer. After he stopped crying, Nick looked around for his big sister. While looking, he noticed something that scared him. He saw that the hatchet was gone as well.

"Uh, Mom."

"Yes, honey?"

"Where'd the hatchet go?"

Mikayla walked to where the hatchet was wondering who could've taken it.

"Who could've taken it?" She asked.

"I think I know who." Said Nick.

The vixen thought about it for a second and connects the dots, realizing what her son meant.

"Rena?"

Nick nodded.

"You don't think..."

Nick nodded again and Mikayla got a scared look.

"Oh my God." She said, her voice trembling.

Nick ran to the door and turned back to his mother.

"C'mon Mom! We have to find and stop her before she does something she's gonna regret!" He cried.

In an instant, the vixen and kit ran out the door to find the Junior Ranger Scouts meeting place before Rena does. We cut to inside the Junior Ranger Scouts meeting building where the mean kids that muzzled Nick were laughing.

"That felt so great!" the deer said.

"Did you see the look on his face?" The zebra asked.

"Yeah! That was priceless!" Said the hippo.

"I know! That was gold!" Said the woodchuck.

They stopped laughing when they heard footsteps slowly coming down the stairs. They turned to see Rena standing before them, holding the hatchet.

"Who or rather what the hell are you?" The woodchuck asked.

For a minute there was an ominous silence.

"Well, are you gonna say something or what?" Asked the yak.

Finally, Rena spoke.

"All of you have done a really REALLY bad thing. Why did you do it? He did nothing to you!" She said.

The kids looked at each other then at the girl again.

What are you talking about?" The hippo asked.

"You should already know." Said Rena.

The deer tapped the woodchuck's shoulder.

"I think she's talking about Nick." He whispered.

"You've all traumatized him!" Rena shouted.

"What're you gonna do about it?" Asked the zebra.

Meanwhile out in the streets, Nick and his mother were racing to the Junior Ranger Scouts meeting building as fast as their legs could take them. After a few minutes, they finally reached the building and ran inside. They ran downstairs. When they got there, they saw a horrifying sight. Nick gasped while his mother screamed. They saw Rena standing in the middle of the floor holding the hatchet now stained with blood. Surrounding her were the mutilated bodies of the kids that muzzled Nick. A few had their limbs missing while a couple had their heads missing.

Nick then heard coughing. He looked slightly to his right and saw the zebra boy crawling towards him, coughing up blood. When he saw Nick, he reached out to him.

"Nick. *cough* Help... me." He begged.

The young fox hurried over to him and held his hoof.

"It's okay. Just hang in there. Help is on the way." He assured him.

He turned to his mother.

"Mom! Call an ambulance!"

The vixen nodded and pulled out her cellphone. As she was dialing for help, Nick heard Rena walking to where the zebra was. When she stopped, she raised the hatchet and Nick stood back. The zebra looked up and gasped in fear.

"Rena! No! Don't do it! It's not worth it!" Nick pleaded.

But Rena didn't listen. As the zebra child screamed, she brought down the hatchet and sliced his head open, blood spewing out on to her and Nick. For a moment there was silence. Then Rena started chuckling, and then she started laughing insanely. After that, young Nick screamed.

Back in the real world, Nick woke up from his nightmare breathing heavily. He felt his body to make sure there was no blood on it. To his relief, there wasn't any. But then he heard laughter. Like crazy laughter. He heard the laughter coming from the end of his bed. He crawled over to the edge and saw a human girl laying on the floor and laughing with her eyes closed. Nick instantly recognized the girl. It was the girl from his dream. It was Rena.

"Rena..."

Back in the dream world, Rena was still laughing her head off at what she had done. All of a sudden, young Nick ran towards the girl and pushed her down, causing her to drop the hatchet. Nick was on top of Rena, shaking and slapping her.

"RENA! PLEASE STOP! THIS ISN'T YOU! PLEASE SNAP OUT OF IT! RENA, WAKE UP! WAKE UP, RENA, WAKE UP!"

Nick's voice got to where it sounded more like a young man than a young boy. Hearing him keep saying wake up, Rena slowly opened her eyes and stopped laughing. She checked her surroundings.

"Where am I?" She asked herself.

When she saw Nick, she screamed and pushed him off her and scrambled to the wall. The fox put his paws up in reassurance to try to calm the girl down.

"Rena. It's okay. It's me, Nick. You don't have to be scared." He said.

Rena raised an eyebrow.

"Nick?"

Nick nodded.

"But you and... your mother... and those kids I..."

The girl gasped and started to cry.

"Those kids... Oh my God... I... I killed them." She said through her tears.

Nick shook his head and walked towards Rena. He took her hands in his paws.

"Hey, kid, look at me." He said, "You didn't kill those kids. They are probably alive well and all grown up. You didn't kill them, okay. So you can calm down now."

Rena stopped crying and nodded.

sigh* "Okay, Nick."

Nick smiled. He turned to his left and walked towards his curtain. He opened it to let the sun in. He turned back to Rena.

"Now how about we wipe those tears away and eat some breakfast? Whaddya say, kid?" He asked.

Rena closed her eyes and laughed.

"Heh heh heh. Sounds like a good idea to me, Nick." She said.
