1. Awakinging

Ruth groaned as she heard the phone next to her begin to vibrate. She was not designed for early mornings - even after years with MI 5 and then on the run before returning to the UK she had never developed a love for being woken up. Harry threw the duvet off his legs before sitting up.

"Who is it?" Ruth asked as he looked at his phone. "Redflash?"

"No." Harry ran a hand over his face before answering the call. "Pearce."

Ruth frowned, now more awake she knew the tone of his voice had changed. He was now in work mode. Something had happened. She had no idea what but there was no idea what. Judging by the tone of his voice she could tell that he wasn't getting any good news. Yawning she got out of bed, glancing at the red numbers on the alarm clock before sighing heavily. If she was going to have to Redflash the team she hoped she could give them a little more time than she was getting to pull herself together. Harry ended the call.

"I have to go into work."

"I guessed that much." She yawned. "Its 3 am. What's going on?"

Harry picked up his clean shirt, slipping it on as he tried not to think of the ungodly hour. Even by his standards 3 am was harsh. He was used to early mornings but he not as early as this. He reached for Ruth, tucking a strand of brown hair behind her ear. "Harry."

"I am not entirely sure." He paused as she raised an eyebrow. "Its something to do with Lydia Morgan."

"As in former Prime Minister Lydia Morgan? Blake's old boss?"

"Yes." He felt his guts twist at the mention of his name. The man was dead but he still had a legacy that could cause problems. He was immediately worried for Ros and the rest of his team.

"What is it? Harry."

"It was Crowther on the phone. She wants to meet me on the Grid ASAP." He looked Ruth in the eye. "Can you?"

"I'll start digging." She smiled slightly. Harry sighed, still not liking the bruising on her face and jaw. The encounter with the Russian assassin had left her battered and bruised. It had become a new source of nightmares for Harry. He nodded before finishing getting dressed and leaving the house. Ruth quietly pulled the laptop out from under the bed, biting her lip as she heard Harry lock the front door behind him. She began booting up the computer. Moments later she had forgotten all her tiredness.

"Oh my God." She chewed on her bottom lip, knowing that whatever Crowther was worried about she was right to be concenred. She reached for her phone, knowing Harry would still be driving. She had to talk to him. Ruth knew, if she was right. If she had found what Crowther was calling for at 3 am then she had to talk to her husband. Lives depended on it.
