Author's Note
Hello all my lovely readers!
So, the cat's out of the bag. I'm rewriting Sight and Sound. I have no ETA on when I will complete this project, but this lockdown in CA, USA is sure helping out.
As you may or may not know, this is a 3-part story. Sight and Sound was the original piece written when I was 14 years old! The original fanfiction is 13 years old as I'm writing this. The post date is a little younger than that because I started the process long before I knew what fanfiction was or a account. As can be expected, My 27 year old self knows the story, characters, and process much better now.
So why rewrite it, right? Well, the thing is, I'm no longer a homophobic child who hates Sasuke. It's a little hard to execute the vision I had for this fic while having feelings of disgust about one of the main characters. In fact, if you read some of the A/N on the original, you will find some embarrassing and shameful comments. So I think it's time to bury that. Also, this story line is kind of my baby. I've been working on it longer than some people have loved a cat or dog. I want it to be the highest quality I'm capable of providing and an enjoyable read.
So why not take down the original? Because that would be dishonest! I was not a loving, open-minded teenager. I am ashamed of that. I seek no forgiveness for the things I said and did. I deserve everything you may think about that iteration of me. I refuse to simply cut ties with roots because they are unpleasant. I was that person. But I grew up and changed. Hopefully one of you will see those ugly things and realize you can change too.
Now, some of you have found Shion Gaiden and the end-of-game hyperlink led you here. Good job! You didn't die! If you're new to my fanfiction, let me help you out. The premise of Sight and Sound is that all Naruto canon events still occur in tandem with the story. Did you ever wonder what Itachi was doing that whole time? Well, told through Aster's (Shion's) eyes, you're about to find out! This rule of canon still being true breaks at Redemption in Your Eyes but is faithfully held almost all the way to the end of Sight and Sound.
Did some of you read that and wonder what I was talking about? I have competed a Ren'Py visual novel. Shion Gaiden is the snapshot of what your new favorite OC was doing between As We Fall and Redemption in Your Eyes. All sprites and programming are being done by yours truly. Some of the background art is from google images, and the music is all from the Naruto and Naruto Shippuden soundtracks. It's another labor of love for you to enjoy and my first undertaking with programming.
I know I had promised to release the full rewrite with the game, but I'm far behind on the rewrite. All completed chapters will be available at this point and there will be updates as new chapters are rewritten. Please enjoy the updated version of this story.

PS: For those who don't know, the only critique I ever received that actually upset me was one review asking why the main character of Sight and Sound has an English name. Well, I was 14. That's why. Suck it.
So then, you will notice that the given names in Shion Gaiden and Sight and Sound do not match. 27 year old me gave the game character her proper Japanese name. I scrapped the surname in the original to match Haku's and translated Aster to Shion. I am not "control+F"ing three fanfictions and hoping for the best. Plus, you'll find out the name change fits with her story.
