Me and Katniss see them and I feel like I might cry. But Katniss says (in our minds since we don't want the capitol knowing this) "One of us should pretend to be in love with him, and you look hurt naturally since he's your best friend so I think it should be you." "But your the one he's in love with," "We don't know that... please?" "Ugh fine," I jump down from the tree and allow a tear to fall down my face, then I wipe it away and call up to Katniss, "I thought he loved me," then I run to the lake to refill our water. I'm not the greatest actor but it's fine.
That night I wake up and feel hot. Because a wall of fire is descending on me. I scramble out of the tree and we run. And run. And run. Then the fire balls come, my arm catches on fire but I jump in a pool of water quickly, by the time it stops me and Katniss are both extremely burned, her on her leg and me on my arm, I don't know what to do so we sit in the pool allowing the cold water to give relief to our burns, until I see the careers and Peeta, I scream "I thought you loved me!" And run. Peeta gives me a weird look since he knows I know it was Katniss but I give him a look so he decides to play along. I climb up the tree my arm aching from all the physical exertion. Cato try's to climb up but can't and Glimmer try's to shoot us with a bow but can't so Peeta says "Let's just wait it out, they'll have to come down sometime," I retort, "Wow great sacrifice for the girl you supposedly love," Peeta looks at me in a pained way, and I don't think he's faking it and I'm not either. I care about him so much and I thought he did too, I thought he loved Katniss. I allow a tear to slide down my check before pulling my head out of view of the cameras.
It's hard to believe that just a little while ago I was in district 12 talking to Peeta. Peeta and Katniss are the only ones who know I have a crush on James Cayto, I never knew what was holding me back from telling him but me and Peeta and Katniss were planning to invite him over to dinner at my house after the Reaping, but of course that never happened.
