Happy 10th chapter! To celebrate I will make this one extra long, my goal is 1000 words! Hope you like it!!!
We were about to go to sleep when Katniss saw the little girl from training, Rue, and she told us to drop the tracker jackets on them. Since my arm is burned Katniss sawed the branch down while I waited, eventually she dropped it and their was chaos, Glimmer and one other died from the affects and Katniss was going crazy moving around then she tried to get the bow and arrow from Glimmer, I was hiding in the background but Peeta saved her, wow didn't expect that. I saw Cato cut Peetas leg pretty bad, but Peeta was able to get away before anything worse was done. Katniss meanwhile was out like a light and if I remember correctly will be for a few days. Haymitch sends burn medicine so I'm able to heal me and Katniss but I have nothing else to do, so I decide to go talk to Peeta, I mean he's cut so bad they're is no way he can hurt me. I find him hiding by the river trying to camouflage, "Hey," he flinches, "Don't worry I'm not here to finish you off," he visibly relaxes and he says, "You do your not the one I love right?" "Oh yeah but Katniss refuses to believe it, and she thought since I was already upset since your my best friend it would like look believable... sorry bout that," "It's fine. Is she okay?" "I don't really know.. I hope so though," "Me too," "Hey um do you want to like be I don't know ally's?" I ask him, "Yes! You know I won't win but I do want you guys to win," "You never know," I says grinning.
I spent the next three days trying to help heal Peetas wound, he has a high fever, and blood poisoning and I don't know what to do. When Katniss finally does wake up she goes to attack him so I had to hold her down. Then she says, "Oak! Let. Me. Go!" "No. We're ally's," she sighs and then she notices something, "I'll be right back," she calls and she walks towards a bush, I hear faint murmuring and she emerges with the little girl Rue who looks like Prim. I give her a questioning look and she says, "If you get to pick an ally so do I," she smirks a little bit. Rue shows us a leaf the heals tracker hackers bites and is very helpful for Peeta and Katniss. Eventually her and Rue go out hunting and I stay helping Peeta, till she comes back and says, "We're going to destroy the careers supply's,"She goes off to do it since me and Peeta aren't that far from when she will be and Rue will be the distraction.
I start to get worried that night when Katniss doesn't return, the next morning she comes back and tells us "Landmines, they reactivated them, and I blew all of their supply's to pieces" Peeta gives me a look because we both know she's only talking to me, Katniss isn't exactly being trusting of him yet but I'm sure she will. Eventually. "Where's Rue?" Peeta asks, Katniss looks right at me and says, "I don't know we should go look," we spend the day looking until I hear Rue call for Katniss, by the time I get Peeta there I see something beautiful, it's Rue, she died but Katniss covered her in flowers, "She looks beautiful," I whisper, "Now she could be sleeping in the meadow" Katniss whispers back, then she breaks down crying. We spend the rest of the day just the three of us, sitting by the river and crying.
We're about to go to sleep when Claudias Templesmith makes an announcement, "There has been a rule change, now 2, or 3 in 12s case tributes may win but they must be from the same district," We're all smiling, we can go home, together. I could have my sister and best friend. Katniss helps us find a cave which we hide in, it rains for days and Peeta is getting sicker by the minute. All of the joy from the rule change has been sucked away, it's a little bit awkward because Katniss and Peeta have started kissing and all that so I'm totally a third wheel here but we're all alive and that's good enough.
The next day Claudius Templesmith invites us to a feast, we don't need a feast now rest the sun is out because Katniss has a bow. But the he says "Now some of you may already be declining my invitation but this is not ordinary feast it has what each of you desperately need. Good luck and my the odds be ever in your favor!" Me and Katniss stare at each other, "No!" Peeta cries, "We all know it will be medicine for my leg and neither of you are risking your life for me, "You can't stop me" I said, "I can come howling after you in the woods and I'll be dead before you get there" He screams and He might just be stubborn enough to to do it "Fine but you have to eat everything I say," Katniss says, he agrees so Katniss goes to make him dinner, she uses the heat from the sun to her advantage and makes a soup that isn't half bad. Peeta eats all of it, then she brings in some berries for him, the next thing I know he's out like a light, "come on" she whispers. So with that we're off to the feast, because if there is one thing that is not happening is me going home with out my best friend and sister.
Wooohooo I did it! Sorry for rushing this chapter there will probably be 2-3 more chapters in this book but I promise the next book will be longer and less rushed and just better in general so I hope you like it!
