The Third Day Of Battle
More than 48 hours had passed since the event and the battle continued although the results seemed to favor the Japanese a lot more. Unfortunately the same could not be said about the capital which suffered serious damages. This would take long time to be repaired, not counting human suffering.
The only ones who were not affected by the events were the vultures that from the skies or the distant trees, waited for the feast that was approaching.
Tuka
I hate this, when they forced me to this invasion, they talked about honor, courage and glory, all of which was a blatant lie.
The soldiers who entered first left mountains of corpses and the dragons, together with the war beasts, destroyed part of the beautiful city that was in front of us.
"Where is the honor of a just battle? ... where is the courage to attack a defenseless people by surprise? ... where there is glory in slaughter and conquest ?"
Everyone thought they would win one day, but apparently the natives were stronger than anyone imagined. Not only did they inflict heavy casualties, but they were also able to repel the troops of the Triple Alliance, with extremely powerful weapons.
Everywhere on the front lines was a death trap, battle beasts and mages were killed without knowing where the attack was coming from and the natives dropped strange bombs that destroyed every structure where soldiers trying to take shelter.
Now all I did was rest after a terrible day, after helping some magic Archers against the 'green men' (as we now call them) had ambush them. With my spirit magic I was able to made them invisible and help them escape.
I met with a group of explorers in a building, where I spoke to someone I had known in the previous days.
"How is your leg, Lydia?" I asked my human companions (perhaps the only person besides me who didn't want to be here. One of the enemy projectiles hit her leg).
"I'm fine Tuka, don't worry, a mage heals me but I won't be able to walk well for a few hours." She answered my question with a somewhat tired but upbeat voice.
"I'm glad about that, but honestly everything that is happening still worries me." I said in all honesty.
"You're right, these idiots decided to attack with very little information from their rival, at this rate they will lose."
"Lydia don't say that so loud, they will listen to you and accuse you of treason."
"At this rate Tuka, we will be dead in a couple of days I have little fear of what they will do to me."
"How do you know?" asked curiously.
"Oh Please, have you seen it yourself !? The army has been fighting for 3 days and still has not been able to conquer the city, not even 200,000 soldiers, tens of thousands of creatures and 2 fire dragons. You know the power of the Triple Alliance, their devastating conquests, anything that resists a surprise attack of this magnitude is an enemy few could match."
I couldn't fight with that logic, lydia was right, the Triple Alliance was facing a real threat.
"Even if you're right, what position does that leave us in?" I asked my partner.
She just looked at me and said. "Only time will tell Tuka, now let worry about staying alive."
1st Lieutenant James Brook, 4th Marine Regiment, US Marine Corps.
"This can't be fucking real !" groaned Lieutenant James Brook as he saw the giant spider infront of him.
"With this I can clarify that my theory is real. God exists and is making fun of me. The very first day I am deployed to Japan and we have an invasion by beings from the Lord of the Rings and The Elder Scrolls is proof of that."
The enemy had proven to be tougher than we thought and had incredible abilities, every street was a trap for them as well as for us. However, they were doomed to lose this battle, it was only a matter of time.
It was a fierce battle, due to the enemy's suicide tactics, our 2nd Platoon was separated from 1st Battalion and stuck behind.
"Take cover!" I shouted to my unit.
In seconds, blue arrows with the penetration capacity of a 12,7 mm armor piercing round were launched at our position at lightning speed.
"How is it possible that their arrows are so deadly and powerful?" asked one of my subordinates.
"Magic, every time something doesn't make sense it is due to magic, remember" I said while reloading my M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle, 5.56mm rounds did shit nothing against those spiders. We needed something bigger.
"John! Shoot your BMG at the right corner."
Private John unleashed a barrage of 12.7mm bullets at the monsters, severely wounding them.
When the enemy attack seemed to diminish in intensity I began to speak.
"Listen, I have a plan, the first thing is" ... But before continuing speaking an agonizing roar was heard, a great dragon fell precipitously in the area, right where the enemy were attacking us, killing everyone in the place.
In the sky, a squadron of 4 McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle was responsible for the death of this huge beast.
"I guess it's better than I planned, well let's move on, we have a battle to win" (and make them pay for the crimes committed), I thought internally.
(A cry of pain could be heard in the distance, possibly the other dragon must also be dead or at least injured right now).
Triple Alliance Camp, Ginza, The Third Day
As the days passed, things inside the camp got worse, filling some people with fear and insecurities, especially after the fall of the dragons, leaving only the prodigy general Fafner as their source of morale. Count Colt Formal, ruler of the city of Italica in the Sadera Empire, was among the dismayed.
Somewhat understandable considering his situation. He was a good man who did not want to go to war and only wanted to be with her daughter to guide her on the right path. He felt guilty for having to invade this kingdom.
Now that his guilt had been replaced by fear for what he had seen, what did Sadera and his allies do? This kingdom not only contained but conquered them and to make matters worse, the dragons, one of the many symbols of power, were slain.
The Triple Alliance had bitten more than it can chew and now he didn't know what would happen to his home when this new enemy invaded, his head aching just thinking about the terrible consequences.
In the midst of those thoughts a voice made him react.
"Count, are you okay?" asked an explorer belonging to the count's domain named Cato.
"No, I'm not feeling well, all this is wrong, I don't want to be here, I just want to go home with my family and to make everything worse, the battle is being a disaster, tell me what happens at the front?"
"My lord things are terrible our forces in the air are destroyed and on the ground it is getting more and more difficult to fight, our enemy is adapting, somehow they detected me despite being able to make me invisible, I could barely escape."
"So what do you think we will do?" asked the Count.
"I don't know."
Fourth And Fifth Day Of Battle
The pace of the battle definitely changed, at the end of day 3 Falmart air forces were annihilated.
The constant fighting exhausted the invading forces, who weren't used to such an intense fight with an enemy of this magnitude.
The fierce battle on several fronts was too much for the wizards, archers and battle beasts. At least 50% of the rest of the beasts were minor creatures such as goblins, wild orcs and other minor creatures that barely served in combat but were at least capable of resisting 5,56mm rounds. Unlike ordinary soldiers who could be killed in large numbers.
The Japanese forces slowly but steadily drove the enemy back.
The regions that it cost the invading forces so much to seize were reclaimed with blood and iron.
In desperation a large number of magicians mixed their powers to create a poisonous gas that was released on the battlefront after losing 60% of the territory, causing heavy casualties to the unprepared Japanese, albeit at the cost of weakening their magicians.
Although the fate of the battle was decided, the modern forces continued to advance until leaving only ginza in territory occupied by the Triple Alliance.
Triple Alliance Camp, Operation Center, Ginza, Day 6
The three generals looked at each other in silence. Their situation was grim.
"Gentlemen, everyone knows why we are together, we have lost this battle." said Fafner.
Nobody said anything because they knew it was true. Everything was silent again until he was interrupted by Tiberius.
"How is it possible, he was supposed to be a weak enemy but they were more powerful than our army, damn it we underestimated them!" said the human general with frustration and helplessness.
His words impressed his companions, Tiberius was extremely arrogant, admitting that the enemy was too strong made the situation clear.
"So what do we do?" asked Thorin.
"Retreat." said Fafner.
Silence again.
"It may not be the most honorable, but we don't have a choice, I ..." Fafner's words were interrupted by a voice.
"Generals, the enemy is attacking." shouted the elf soldier.
"What? So fast? After the last confrontation and our defenses" asked Tiberius.
"Sir, the dwarf cannons only superficially damaged the steel elephants, the magicians are too tired to continue and the number of battle beasts is very small" the soldier said with fear.
Seeing the panorama, Fafner began to speak - "Tiberius and Thorin, retreat with the other troops back and return to our empires to warn you how to prepare for the worst conflict we have ever had.
"...and you?" asked Tiberius.
"I will distract you with all my power"
"But possibly you will die, they could kill two dragons, not the strongest, but they were dragons" Thorin said with concern.
"I know, but the destiny of a prodigy is the fight, no matter what. Go NOW."
El Fafner's body lights up with an intense white magical aura and his eyes shine like two stars.
"Go Now!" he yelled at his companions who obeyed without complaint.
Everyone immediately prepared to withdraw to the GATE.
...
Fafner could only observe this by thinking of the mistakes that were made in coming to this place.
He was thinking of his empress and his people.
Thinking of his human companion of him as his of him, that he did not come believing it was unnecessary.
Thinking about the past ... that now it doesn't matter.
He has a battle to fight.
Namiki Dōri St, Ginza
The Japanese forces advanced in many directions in their offensive, one of them is Namiki Dōri St area south of Ginza where you could notice a large group of soldiers supported by military vehicles crushing all opposition.
"Run you damn savages!" yelled a Japanese soldier named Asa.
"These bastards are escaping, soon this will end." said another soldier companion of Asa.
"You're right, I hope ... wait, what's that?" Asa asked a glowing figure approaching at high speed.
The large glowing figure addressing them but before he could speak a Type 10 tank fired at the strange being with its main gun, the 120 mm Japan Steel Works L/44.
The Type 10 APFSDS round struck the target directly but unable to destroy him.
From the light it was possible to see an individual with golden armor similar to that of elven soldiers. He stopped the projectile with his left hand and but that pushed him back a little.
All the soldiers present who witnessed what happened were apparently frozen in terror.
"But how? ..." the words of the Japanese soldiers were interrupted by the individual who collided with the tank, destroying the front part.
It was Fafner the prodigy unleashing his power from him.
The mighty prodigy used his powers to destroy the tank with ease, just like the ship, though for obvious reasons less spectacularly.
"Impossible, shoot!" said a soldier to his companions with him. The bullets bounce off his magic shield that could stop everything without much effort.
The elf immediately drew his weapons from him, two silver broad swords (made of magical materials and enchanted) that glowed with the power of magic, and attacked the soldiers. Others could only see a blur, as he moved faster than speed of sound.
"Shit ..." Asa couldn't finish his sentence as his head was cut off. Like Asa, the rest of the soldiers were cut easily, like a hot buttered knife.
Japanese soldiers in the area were easily slaughtered and vehicles, destroyed by powerful magic attacks, in a short time, the entire street was cleared, making more time for the retreat of the rest of the army to Falmart.
Fafner effectively and critically decimates everything in his path using all of his abilities to deal as much damage as possible.
The prodigy followed his advance, finding more Japanese soldiers. In seconds he was in front of another unfortunate, using his swords he cut him in half, the cut was specific so that the man was still alive and screamed until he bled to death.
Gathering mana inside his body and turning it into flames, Fafner expelled a vast amount of flames that spread out like a wave. Stunned by the spell, the Japanese fled. However, the flames spread out wide and were impossible to contain or dodge. The flames reached the soldiers and began to eat away their flesh. They let out screams of pain as the flames began to incarnate.
Fafner just watched impassively as his magic incarnated hundred of JSDF soldiers. As before, he left the place to finish off more soldiers.
Fafner charged at the disoriented soldiers. One soldier was caught within his range with a kick to the chest that sent him flying towards the others. Fafner began to deliver blows from person to person. No one was able to score a single hit of him as he made his charge.
Electrocuted, exploited, dismembered, beheaded, burned alive, among others, were the means in which his victims fell. Although perhaps the most brutal way was to destroy the internal organs with water manipulation as the majority of the body is liquid.
His advance was unstoppable, all the heavy weaponry seemed to bounce or at best contain it.
The Japanese suffered hundreds of casualties from the mighty Fafner in minutes, but even under this circumstance they fought to the end without taking a step back, in the end, there was no winner.
Two Boeing AH-64 Apaches fired four AGM-114 Hellfires at Fafner only for him to dodge easily before hurling two thunderbolts at them, killing them instantly.
Some soldiers tried to hit him with Panzerfaust 3 with tandem hollow charge warheads but Fafner released some much more powerful gusts of winds and had wind blades within them.
The wind spell covered a lot of ground before storming towards the Japanese soldiers. The spell picked up a lot of debris as it sped towards its target. When the spell collided with the warheads, a resounding explosion occurred, killing the entire infantry squad.
A Mitsubishi Type 89 IFV tried their best to hit Fafner with their Oerlikon 35 mm KDE cannon but the prodigy was too fast and there were too many obstacles in the city. Fafner cut the vehicle in half with just a swing of his blade.
As casualties kept mounting, the JGSDF decided to bombard the area with Type 99 155 mm self-propelled howitzers. For the next seven minute the street of Namiki Dōri was bombarded with 600 HE-FRAG 155mm round. That wasn't enough because Fafner was simply hiding underground.
Growing more and more frustrated with Fafner resistance, the US- Japan coalition decided to bomb the whole Ginza area. A B-2 Spirit from Guam was called to annihilate that bastard elf. The bomber took a while to arrive, but when it arrived, 40 Mk-82 (230 kg) bombs were unleashed on the street of Ginza, flattening the whole region. Fafner only barely escaped death by burying himself deep underground and turned his shield to the max.
Fafner, the powerful being that represented the apostles on earth, had spent a long time fighting, but the enemy still appeared like a swarm of angry wasps with the sole purpose of killing Fafner. They seemed to be achieving that goal because with every passing minute it seemed that the extraordinary Fafner was getting weaker and weaker.
"We have made a serious mistake." Fafner said internally as he continued his attacks.
This enemy is powerful, I could feel it from the beginning, that steel elephant shot me a large metal arrow with a power that few things are comparable even though I was able to block it.
In a normal battle he could last days fighting, but now things were complicated, each of his enemy attacks becomes more difficult to stop.
My speed decreased with each passing minute and my attacks became weaker and weaker. How can such a strong enemy exist?
I had to quickly change my tactics to kill as efficiently as possible unlike my first attacks.
After 50 minutes, I could no longer continue so I decided to withdraw.
Unfortunately, without realizing it, I fell into a trap, surrounded by steel elephants, metal dragons and a large number of soldiers with very large weapons of different shapes.
Maybe I underestimated them or was unable to realize it, but it didn't matter, they attacked with everything and I had to use a large amount of my magic to contain the onslaught of projectiles and giant arrows.
I was in a lot of trouble therefore I would use all my energy in this attack to survive.
"Die, You Fucking Nihon!" I screamed unleashing all the power I currently had. (A shock wave mixed with plasma beams was unleashed by Fafner killing any unprotected people within a 300 meter radius around him.)
After the explosion all that could be seen was the dust and within it was Fafner on his knees.
He was exhausted, short of breath.
He waited a minute to recover and got up to walk slowly but steadily to escape.
"I have to get to the GATE ... I have to survive" Fafner said totally exhausted.
Unfortunately for him, in full retreat he heard a sound and then a deep pain in his stomach, they had shot him with a powerful weapon that left a hole in him.
Fafner spat blood and suffered pain few can imagine, but even with that he rose again.
Any other living being would be dead but he was a prodigy, he could go on or at least he should ... until another projectile hit his heart.
Fafner fell to the ground while he tried to breathe, now that he couldn't do it, he tried to scream but he couldn't, the only thing he could do was watch the light disappear as memories of his life passed.
Childhood memories of him and how he rose before others.
Memories of becoming powerful.
Memories of the empress of him.
Memories of allies and friends.
Memories of beings like him, who fled not to prostrate before the Triple Alliance.
Memories of traitors like Rory Mercury.
Memories of a life that was fading away.
Fafner the prodigy was killed by a Barrett M82 with a 12.7 x 99mm NATO bullet (.50 BMG). In the last moment of his life he realized that the era of human, elven and dwarf empires had come to an end.
2rd Lieutenant Itami
"Shit, my head" I said to no one in particular just complaining about the pain of being thrown like a rag doll by that blast wave, what the hell was that, how was it possible that such individuals exist.
In the middle of my complaints I heard a voice.
"Are you okay man?"
At that time I saw an American soldier standing near me. He seemed to be a US marine.
"Yes, I'm fine, just a little hurt" I said.
- "Good, come, get up" he said that while he gave me a hand to get up.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome, but I think it's time to go back to the others, by the way, what is your name?" Out of curiosity, asked the American.
"Second Lieutenant, Yoji Itami and you?"
"First Lieutenant, James Brook."
After he told me his name we walked to go to the Ginza region.
...
"Did you ever imagine something like this, even for a second?" James asked.
"No, at most a silly isekai adventure, but this, not even in dreams" I said with all honesty.
"I'm sorry for your country Itami."
"Me too." I said.
While we were walking we heard something.
"Who's there?" I asked pointing my gun.
At that moment we discovered a girl or rather a scared female elf, she seemed to be making a gesture of surrender.
"It seems we have a prisoner." said James.
"I suppose, we have to take it to our superiors."
"You're right, come on, we have work to do." said James.
The battle had ended in a Japanese victory, but a bitter victory on many levels. Many parts of the city were destroyed, the civil losses were gigantic and thousands of soldiers died to stop the invader.
For the moment, the weapons will be quiet but soon the Japanese will have justice and revenge.
