Opening File: Time Travel
Time Travel is considered mere science fiction, even in modern history. However some have not only found it to be possible but have even mastered it. The question is if they have mastered it why haven't they used it to change or alter history?
The simple answer: it doesn't work that way.
Even if someone were to travel back in time to prevent all the worst disasters in history or even use to change the outcomes of wars Time itself has no wish to change. It naturally fights back, especially when the person in question is trying to change their own history, leading to a paradox and the consequences would be disastrous. It is hard to decide what exactly what would happen but based on the past few time travels depending on the universal law but the best case scenario would simply be a new time line which means the existence of a new time line means the old one continues by itself.
The worst case scenario: history becomes fluid and polluted, creating serious disruptions in the space-time continuum to the point that the universe itself begins to move towards entropy.
Time degrades; shifts in time are created which pulls people and objects from one timeline to another. Even traveling to the futures runs the risk of creating other time portals and rifts to be found. That is why when if one is forced to alter history it is done in a believable fashion but even then it is almost impossible to be sure there are no side effects that happen instantly or years later. Any attempts to control time, even in simply creating a new timeline will result in the universe organizing itself to rebalance and save itself and that is without taking into account of powerful and ancient forces that would sense the disturbance and work to correct it before it collapses.
It is therefore not wise to attempt to control or alter time.
Unfortunately not everyone understands the danger…or cares.

Opening File: The Book of Ages
The Book of Ages is a book that records history as it goes. Whoever writes in it has the power to alter reality. The main defense against the book's power is to obtain a piece of one of the book's pages that details one's own history. History still changes around them, but they remember the unaltered version of the past, and can reverse the revision by returning the part of the book that they removed.

"Things change yet everything remains the same." TOM said, closing the history file and rose up from his chair. "If you were to ever learn how to time travel they'd tell you not to interfere in the past. The reason being: change anything you change everything."
He left the bridge and entered the media room. As this happened the main screen on the bridge showed a countdown:

"Thank you, my friend."
This is it.
The end at last to his horrid legacy.
Finally, all of his mistakes undone.
Perhaps in the timeline that would be born from correction he and the only friend he had made in a millennia he would eventually learn the same lessons that took destroying the world for him to learn.
"Perhaps you don't have to relearn anything at all."
He opened his eyes, finding himself standing before a giant obelisk and before a tall, muscular man with blue skin and wore all black stood, staring at him with red glasses.
He remained calm, deciding to approach this surprise with calm curiosity. "And who might you be? A specter of death?"
The blue skinned man laughed. "Nope. I might be a specter but wrong category. I am known simply as Guardian since I have no real name. The Azure Guardian of Time and Space."
"Really?" He raised an eyebrow. "I suppose you were here to bring forth judgment on me for my time machines and both times they were used."
"You could say that." The Guardian nodded.
"So…Time prison or am I forced to into some sort timeless torcher, reliving the same pain over and over again?" He asked mildly.
"Nope." The Guardian replied. "There is a punishment in mind but it's not torture. It's a chance…To right the wrongs of another who has a similar plan to you."
"Excuse me?" He raised an eyebrow.
"You ain't the first boy to get the idea of messing with time. For all your smarts and science you never consider that time itself hates change and don't like it when someone tries to force it. You ever think that time wouldn't find a way to stop you?" The Guardian smirked. "Time don't like change, man and worst of all…Time never forgets."
"I figured as much." The man sighed. "So, someone else is planning to manipulate time to suit their own desires. Why ask me?"
"You have lived far longer than anyone has had the right and at first you squandered it. Believing you had the divine right to rule and you spent centuries, hoarding knowledge and power for yourself and then tried to use to conquer the world. Your last attempted with the gravity device gave you what you want: the world but it wasn't what you thought it would be did you?" The Guardian asked.
"No." The man turned away. "The device I used destroyed the gravity balance that kept all of the planets in the entire solar system in balance, turning the sun red and destroying all life on the planet except for me. Any one that remained, immortals, ghost, gods and demons died, killed themselves or faded away. For the next millennium I grew insane from the solitude, rethinking my plans for conquest and made plans for building a ship to leave Earth but then…"
"You chose not to." The Guardian finished.
"I felt the solitude was my punishment. All that the time I spent alone with the creatures that came after, gave me time to rethink all of my past actions and realized my obsession for conquest was meaningless. For all my knowledge, my immortality and all I had to show for it was a dead world." The man said mournfully.
"And now you seek something else." The Guardian stated.
"Yes…Redemption." The man closed his eyes. "Sending Superman back to correct my mistakes…Is perhaps the only good thing I will ever do in my life."
"And if you have the chance to do more?" The Guardian asked.
The man turned around, facing the Guardian. "Why would you ask me? You are the Guardian of Time. I played with time. Perhaps being erased is what I deserve."
"And perhaps your punishment is spend eternity….Helping those in need and saving lives." The Guardian replied. "This can be your redemption!"
The man's eyes widened at the Guardian's reply. "You would offer it to me…Despite what I have done?"
"I am the Guardian of Time and Space. You have altered time twice. The first to serve your own selfish desires and the second…To right the wrongs of yourself and send a good man home. Do you seek forgiveness, redemption, peace?" The Guardian replied calmly.
"Yes…" The man bowed his head. "But how can I be sure I'll find it?"
"Then you have a choice."
He looked up, watching two images appeared on the obelisk with one showing the time line with him fighting the Justice League and the other…
A time of great peril.
"You can vanish into your new timeline, remembering nothing of what was while deep in your heart desperately hoping for that the redemption you seek. Or…Travel to a new world, help right its wrongs and the wrongs of the man seeking to make himself time's new master. Show that world what a man with your gifts can do for others instead of oneself." The Guardian said, stepping out of the way. "The choice is yours."
He looked to the obelisk, staring in between the two portals…
And then made his choice as he took a step forward, entering the portal he had chosen. When he was gone a man in lab coat and a red haired woman appeared next to the Guardian.
"He made his choice?" The red haired woman asked.
"Yep." The Guardian answered.
"Well, here's to hoping." The man wearing the lab coat commented.
"Hope doesn't mesh well with time." The Guardian said.
"Perhaps but it never hurts to have some."

Earth
Billions of Years Ago
"It is nearly ready."
Legions of tall, muscular creatures stood before the pyramid they had spent a life time building. It was about the size of a house with strange and mystic markings in a language no human could ever hope to understand covering it. These markings flashed bright blue as it was activated.
"There is only one last matter."
The shaman, a creature dressed in a robe that reached the ground stepped forward and placed his staff on the pyramid. "Kur…We ask that thee lent thy power and essence of thy kind to power our last hope of survival."
From the dark sky came down a light from the very stars that forced the clouds to part and an orange aura that changed color several times bathed the pyramid, causing the azure markings to change to orange, then dark green and several more colors for a mere second before returning to normal.
"It is done." The shaman said, lowering his staff. "Kur and the outer beings have blessed us and our relic."
"So it truly is ready." Two creatures stepped forward and the shaman grasped their hands.
As soon as he touched them strange markings appeared on their arms in a flash of light.
"These markings link you to our relic. With the blessings of Kur and the others you will be given access to all the mystic forces in the world, allowed to see the world as the ages pass. You will know all you must to prepare our return and restore our people." The shaman said. "The relic will be your teacher and caretaker and you will do the same for it. Observe the children of the future, learn from them, make them reliant on you and use them to return this world to its true masters."
"Yes." Both creatures bowed and were the first to enter the pyramid.
Inside were two pods that opened for them, allowing them to enter. Once inside they fell into a deep slumber but their minds would conjure history for them in the form of dreams. From the extinction of life outside, to the Connected Era and the Forgotten Age, to the Time of Awakening to the first Great War, followed by the second Great War and it is there that they would learn several deep important facts that would needed to be addressed upon their awakening.
And so they slept.
And dreamt.
And waited.
And then finally, the time to awaken had come.

Thousand Years Ago
SMASH!
The door to the ancient sanctuary was knocked down by a powerful force. The person responsible was a giant muscular man. He was mustachioed in a thin horseshoe style. He possessed yellow eyes with black sclera, pale gray skin with red, black and purple vein markings traveling down his face and neck, a sharp nose, and a prominent forehead.
His fingernails were long and jagged. He also had dark and abundant hair, but he was also half bald. He wore a stocky tunic consisting of black on the right and cream on the left with an eggplant animal pelt brim and cuffs, an eggplant pelt sash, and a fluffy gray pelt scarf with timberwolf stripes. He had a black glove on his left hand and sported gray trousers and a pair of black boots with gray linings.
"Finally." The man grinned. "The Book of Ages."
"Well done, Shan Yu."
The man turned around, watching as a man dressed in black stepped through the dust cloud. The man in question was as tall as the first man, possessing a modest muscular build and wore all black. His hair was red, reaching down to the shoulders with his eyes possessing the same color but having the same black sclera as the yellowed eyed man along with the same markings traveling down his pale face and neck while on his right hand was a red tattoo resembling an eye.
"The single book in the world that can change everything." Sammael remarked as he approached the book. "And perhaps the one thing that can protect us from forces we cannot see or predict."
Shan Yu watched as Sammael turned back several pages, looking through the history in them. "Aren't you going to use it?"
"Is that what you thought?" Sammael smirked as he held up one finger and it grew into a claw.
Shan Yu watched in puzzlement as Sammael removed cut along several pages, neatly stacking them in his free hand. "Don't you intend to rewrite history?"
"There's no point. Nothing in history would be enough for us to have our final victory." Sammael replied. "Fortunately if anyone had the idea of using this book or something similar to its power we'd be prepared now."
Shan Yu watched as Sammael held the paper up in the air, summoning an orb of red light that absorbed the pages and was then absorbed into Sammael himself. The Fallen let out a light gasp as a wave of energy washed over him. He took a few seconds to catch his breath before finally recomposing himself.
"And we are done." Sammael turned the pages back to the current time, watching as writings appeared on the pages by themselves.
"That is it?" Shan Yu asked. "We could use this to win."
"You believe you need a book to topple China?" Sammael asked, walking away from the book. "I've told you before, use this power too carelessly and we'd destroy ourselves in the process. What does it say for a warrior who would rather just change time instead of being the conqueror he says he is?"
Shan Yu narrowed his eyes but said nothing, following Sammael as they walked out. With a wave of his hand Sammael's magic brought the door back up and instantly repaired the damage.
It was almost like they had never been there to begin with.

May 3rd 1999
"At long last."
Before him was a small man sized black hole in the center of a massive machine. It had taken him decades to perfect but here it was.
"Now to send through the piece that will change everything." He held up a laptop.
He had already downloaded history files and schematics for everything needed so that his side would win…Or at least cause as much devastation as possible.
"Now to input the exact date and coordinates of where it shall appear." He inputted the coordinates into the main computer that helped stabilize the black hole. "And now…"
He threw the laptop into the black hole, grinning in satisfaction. "I rise. They all fall."
Xxx
"Hm?"
Sammael perked up, standing up from his throne and looked out the window. Deep within the depths of his soul he felt a powerful tug, as if something was pulling away at him from the inside.
"This feeling…I know it." Sammael remarked, walking slowly up to the window. "So, someone's finally playing the time travel card."
He watched as the wave of light passed over the Darklands, trying to absorb it all into the new timeline and when it collided with him…
A white aura surrounded him, protecting him and his castle from the changes.
"Nice try." Sammael remarked with a small grin. "But the old going back in time to change everything for the better, whatever constitutes the word better in whoever is doing said time travel has already been done. And I'm not really in the mood for someone to try it on me."
Still he needed to find out what was happening and deal with it fast. He immediately accessed his Seer network and immediately began seeing all the changes.
And he knew where to send the information he had learned.
Or rather he knew when to send it.
Xxx
Everything was running smoothly.
He was the power behind one of the world's most powerful corporations, his organization was growing in size and strength and he remained completely anonymous to the rest of the world.
Nothing could get in his way.
Except for the wave of temporal energy approaching his sanctum.
"Activate temporal shields!"
The order was carried out immediately with an invisible shield protecting the base. The wave washed over the temporal shields that protected the base.
"I was prepared for this long before I awoke." The creature said, standing up from his chair. "So who dares try to intervene?"
He accessed the network and begun seeing the changes being made, compared them to the previous history and then immediately acted on what he learned, knowing what he needed to do.
Xxx
"So another attempt to alter time." Tan Zang sighed, sensing the disturbance. "How many times must the lesson be repeated before it is learned?"
Xxx
"So it has begun."
"The fool is trying to tamper with time."
"Do we intervene?"
"It is not our concern."
"Is it?"
Four shadows gathered in the room, their eyes glowing in the dark. Their faces and bodies were covered by armored masks and cloaks of different color.
"We are meant to protect the balance. Not deal with the mistakes of some radical fool too overconfident to realize the folly of their plans."
"I sense the Guardians are moving. We can leave this to them."
"While we focus on the bigger threat."
"Our enemies will no doubt sense this. They will be quick to react."
"Perhaps we can use this a way to bring them out into the open."
"It is too risky."
"Sometime we must take risks. You know that."
"Perhaps we have grown too comfortable with that. Considering how rare we are the ones to take the risk."
"It still must be done."
"And so it shall be."

A young red haired woman lied down on her back as the small raft she was on floated aimlessly through the sea. She opened her eyes and watched as something washed over her, resonating with the power inside of her.
"Who's the dumb idiot?" She sat up as an infinity symbol appeared on her forehead.
Whatever it was it was causing the power within her to react heavily to whatever was happening.
Someone was playing with fire…
Quite literally in this case.
"Messing with time are we?" The woman growled as she snapped her fingers.
Suddenly everything around her froze and she stepped out onto the water…
Only when she did it was like the water had become solid.
With time literally frozen for her that meant everything but her was frozen, including the water. She could now walk across the very ocean itself as if she was on dry land.
"Now to find the idiot who thinks he can get away with messing with time…My world." The woman's eyes narrowed as she began her journey, following the path she knew would take her to the source of the temporal flux.
"Time is my world. It's belonged to me since I was an infant. My world, my time." The woman muttered. "No one plays with it except for me."
Time belongs to her.
No one else.
No one.
She would find the one who did this and tear them apart slowly.
Extremely…
Slowly.

A clock is shown before opening, showing the inner gears that release a bright flash, showing the title.
GRIMMFALL: ENTROPY
There's a time when the moon
An obelisk appears and before it stands the Azure Guardian of Time and Space.
Reveals its face through the clouds.
A large book in a grand hall is then shown
I let out a sigh
A hulking man appears, standing in front of the book
And want to cry out loud.
The hulking man steps aside, revealing another man who lowers his hood to show Sammael who smiles as he looks down at the book.
But deep in my heart,
A woman is shown, watching a strange light wash over the city.
I feel love so alive.
War machine marched into a desolate city.
From the depths of my soul,
A man in a dark red cloak stands next to a man wearing a Nazi uniform and monocle watch the army before them.
I know we will survive.
A man stands, rallying his troops.
I'm the one they would break
They charged forward, attacking the enemy head on.
In their greed and their pride.
A pair of paper pages appears, the red cloaked man showing his white bearded face with red on one page and Sammael on the other, smirking in amusement.
But deep in my heart,
Plans shoot across the skies of Britain and flying with them were two Gargoyles.
I feel love so alive.
Another Gargoyle appeared, holding a katana in one hand.
From the depths of my soul,
A man with a pistol aimed at the screen and fired, creating a blast of light as the title appears one last time.
I know we will survive!
