Chapter 1 part 1 : Emiya Kazuto
Maybe He wanted to be an ally of justice since Emiya Kiritsugu saved him. He remembered walking in the flames, searching for his family which was never found. He remembered a hand, on top of the rubble that was desperately reaching for something. It was difficult to breathe and see but he kept digging. At that moment Shirou knew the figure he had found nor was he going to survive. Maybe he was afraid of being alone in that hell, he didn't even care if he got hurt for shielding the figure. It was fate that he encountered Emiya Kiritsugu as he saved him to stay through the night.
Emiya Kazuto is the first person he saved and he isn't going to be the last.
Although Shirou's heavenly cooking is difficult to resist tasting, even more so smelling. Kazuto had other plans. Shirou wasn't awake yet so it was easy to snuck out of the house. He breathed in morning air. As fall was leaving, the air was getting colder and colder. He shivered. He had underestimated the cold a bit so he just wore a cotton sweatshirt, his school uniform and pants.
(What he's wearing is in the calibur op)
It was about a half an hour later when he reached his destination. The manor was western-looking. It was one of the manors in the western area, kind of opposite to his home in the traditional district. Kazuto opened the gates and crept in the house through the window. As usual, the owner didn't lock the windows. He walked up the stairs to that one room and opened the door. The girl was still asleep, just as Kazuto wanted.
He motioned his hands towards the girl's face.
"System command : generate aqueous element, discharge" he muttered
"Why would you do that!" The girl yelled, now fully awake. Kazuto shrugged.
"Giving Tohsaka-senpai an early bath"
Tohsaka rin signed as she dried her face. There goes her peaceful morning.
"Wait— are those command seals?"
"Yeah, wait! Archer let you in here?" Rin stared at him.
"Oh, you got an Archer?" Kazuto narrowed his eyes "we made a deal, alright?"
"Yeah, I remembered- there you are Archer"
The servant materialized as his steel eyes looked at Kazuto.
"Why did you let Kazuto in here all of a sudden, though I'm thankful you didn't try to kill him" Rin raised her eyebrows.
"I was dozing off" the servant replied, although both Kazuto and Rin didn't seem to buy it, none of them pry further.
"So Archer, meet Emiya Kazuto"
Kazuto held out his hand. "Nice to meet you, heroic spirit"
"Call me Archer" Archer shook his.
"I'm going to change, both of you get out" Rin motioned for them to get out.
Once they were out of the room, Kazuto took a glance at Archer. Something about him feels so familiar but he shook it off.
"I'll keep your existence a secret" he said
Archer grinned. "You should do that boy."
Archer can't help but feel relieved. It was long since he last saw Rin and Kazuto. And now they were alive and—
"Archer, what heroic spirit are you?"
The raven haired beside him asked
"If you don't want to tell me then that's fine"
Archer was quiet. After that, the awkward silence engulfed them.
"I'm ready. Kazuto, come home early today will you?" Rin said, walking out of her room. Kazuto nodded, Archer trailing behind them.
'Aren't you going to ask anything?'
Rin asked, sending Archer a thought
'Since he knew about your command seals I decided that he might be a magus not to mentioned he woke you up with magecraft'
'You're correct actually, though Kazuto's more like my apprentice.'
Archer smirked
'SuRpRiSiNg ThAt YoU cOuLd TeAcH'
"Are you underestimating me?" Rin shouted,
Kazuto looked at her, worried
"Senpai?"
"Telepathy problems" Rin facepalmed
"Oh"
Archer signed 'how did you two meet?'
That question made Rin drifted in her thoughts. It was four-no five years ago when she met the younger Emiya.
She was minding her own business, going out to the store. Kirei didn't bother to take her even though she was running out of food. She was suddenly ambushed by another magus.
At that time, she was still training with Kirei in martial arts so she could barely avoid the kick that magus threw at her. She couldn't make out the magus's face but they kept shooting their beams of light.
Rin tried to deflect it with her glandr but it was no use. She channeled prana and reinforced her legs. Since she couldn't defend, then she would take an escape route.
She bounced up the wall beside the building and climbed up the rooftops. The higher, the better. Bad luck for Rin that the other could do the same. She ran along the rooftops as she jumped up to the helicopter base of some building as she narrowly ducked the other white beam of light. Luckily, the door was opened.
Rin closed it and reinforced it to the maximum. She waited on the other side. When the door broke, she would shower the magus with her glandr. Of course, it didn't go as planned and Rin wished she would have ran away instead of waiting. They were aiming their finger at Rin and she knew it was the end, until someone muttered something, a purple ball of prana went flying and the magus collapsed.
It didn't last long, they woke up in a sudden and whispered the word Rin remembered until this day.
"Cardinal"
"Who are you?" Rin asked her savior.
"Why are you being chased by someone and how the heck could you jump up the rooftops?"
The raven haired boy asked her back.
"I'm Emiya Kazuto" She glanced at his clothing. "Why are you wearing a hospital gown?"
"Because this is the hospital?" He raised an eyebrow
"O-oh I'm Tohsaka Rin"
"Are you one of the magic users?"
Rin widened her eyes "yeah, a magus actually"
"Anyways thanks for saving me"
"No need" he walked down the stairs with someone yelling his name below.
"I-How did you do that?"
"I have to go now maybe we'll meet at school"
And he was gone.
They did met in school the next day like he said and Kazuto claimed the reason he was in hospital was because of some weird fever. They got to know each other and to Rin's surprise Kazuto was a year younger than her. Eventually, Kazuto asked to be her apprentice which she gratefully accepted.
After the years, Rin has been secretly experimenting on him with his insane amount of prana and his talent in magecraft. It was, as he had been touched by the root.
She was afraid that if she were to fight him in the grail war, she would surely lose. To her relief, after he learned about it he said he would join forces if he was chosen.
She parted ways with Kazuto, going to the upper floor of her class. She shook all her worries and Rin the class idol took over her.
"Why are you late? you left home before senpai even woke up " Kazuto signed at the purple haired seated in front of him. "Something came up," he replied.
"Forget that, Sakura did you hurt your face again or something?"
The girl, Sakura, briefly looked away. "Yeah, I fell of my bed"
Kazuto was about to ask something when his homeroom teacher walked in, his face grumpy like usual.
He carried the folders and began rambling about something Kazuto doesn't care about as he pointlessly looked out the window. Nothing caught his view particularly.
He knew something was off about Sakura since the first time he met her washing Shirou's clothes. Of course, Shirou told Sakura not to but she did it anyway.
Sometimes, he was almost sure Sakura was a magus. He even thought about confronting her but it seemed stupid to accused someone was a magus because he thought something was off. Even if he was right, the reason was still stupid. Sakura is a nice person but he can't seem to look at her directly in her eyes.
It was lunch when he finally rose from his seat.
"I didn't notice it earlier but did your wounds increase?" Kazuto stared at Sakura.
"Isn't this like the third time this week? Shirou is going to fuss over you all night and all day"
Sakura suppressed her laughter. "Hey, if senpai hears he'll be fussing over you too"
"Anything he can't hear couldn't hurt him"
"Well, I heard everything" A very, very familiar voice said from behind.
"Senpai!"
"Shirou!"
"Be careful next time Sakura, here Kazu you forgot your lunch" The red haired said, then vanished from their sight.
Kazuto looked at the bento in his hands. "Thank god.."
He was saved.
"Thank senpai, not god"
Kazuto rolled his eyes and opened his bento as Sakura opened her own.
It was evening when he opened his eyes. Math was boring and chemistry wasn't better. Kazuto looked once at the empty classroom before leaving, unaware that Shirou was still somewhere in the school and Shirou was going to come home very later than he expected.
"What's wrong Sakura?" Taiga asked as Kazuto subconsciously scooped the rice in Taiga's plate
"N-nothing just senpai doesn't come home this late"
Kazuto shook off the dread feeling. "Maybe he took some extra shifts in his part-time job"
"And your cooking is getting better Sakura" he complimented
"Thanks, though I'm nowhere near senpai's level" Sakura said, digging in the mackerel's side with her spoon.
"Hey, more!" Taiga handed Kazuto her plate.
"Really? Taiga-nee I just scooped some for you a few seconds ago"
"You need to eat more kid, you look like a walking skeleton" Taiga smirked
Kazuto sighed and scooped more rice in her plate. He placed his in the sink and left to his room as Sakura stared at him from behind.
"He sure looks like he lost more weight" Taiga signed as she went on eating.
"He is going to lost more later" Sakura muttered
"What did you say Sakura?"
"Nothing"
9:45 pm
Shirou threw himself on the floor. There was some leftover food on top of the counter so he planned to eat it after a nice bath. There was blood on his chest. It was real. All of it. This is the proof. A sound made his head jerked up, Shirou barely leapt in time when the same lance that killed him flew on the floor he was sitting on a second ago.
'Shit this is going to wake Kazuto up and the last thing I wanted was him to die with me'
"If you'd stay still this wouldn't have hurt"
The blue haired man smiled at him, his hand summoning his lance back. Shirou didn't hesitate to run, he reinforced his legs and the metal calendar before blocking the lance with it. He shouldn't expect much of it when it bent when it collided with the lance. The force sent his only weapon out of his grip and he was left defenseless.
Shirou never thought he would die 2 times in one day but here it is. He was just revived and now he's going to die again. He leaned against the glass window as the man towered him.
"Farewell"
'Now!' He yelled mentally.
The glass broke by his force and he was sure Kazuto was going to kill him but that was the least of his problems.
A purple ball flew and hit the man in the back. He was still for a moment and Shirou thought he was stupid to stand still too.
'Where did that come from?'
He came to his senses and moved to the shed, maybe there was equipment there.
Whoever shot that ball there, he was willing to thank them.
The man with a lance was there before Shirou knew it.
"Stay still, dammit!" A familiar voice rang behind
"Wait your turn boy, I'm dealing something with your brother."
Another purple ball nearly hit Shirou as the lanced man ducked.
He lunged forward, kicking him in the chest as Kazuto tried to catch up. Shirou coughed as he landed on the ground, boxes littered the floor.
Then something no one thought would happen, happened.
A faint glow emitted from the ground Shirou was sitting, it combined then formed a circle, to Kazuto's horror. It glowed brighter and everyone, even the man with the lance covered his eyes.
Then the man ricocheted back, like an invisible force had pushed him. Kazuto hurried into the shed.
"Are you okay?"
Shirou was still stunned.
"She's out there she wouldn't last long! I gotta go save her"
"What do you mean 'her'?" Shirou hurried past him leaving Kazuto with a realization.
'Wait..did he? No he doesn't have a catalyst but..' He ran after Shirou.
A woman with an invisible sword was fighting with the blue man with a lance. She was clearly having a disadvantage because Lances can't be parried. Lances have longer attack distance but that doesn't mean she can't win. The way she wielded her weapon is easy to guess it was a sword but because it is invisible, no one knew it's length. The blue man was clearly on guard the whole time. They were neck-to-neck.
The sight cleared all of Kazuto's suspicions. Yes, Shirou has summoned a servant and by her looks, the strongest class.
Saber.
He was planning to intervene but he would be ripped to shreds by both of them if he tried.
Then the lance was red and even the stunned Shirou knew what was coming next.
"Gae bolg" the lance man yelled, As the lance was aiming towards her chest with speed his brain couldn't even calculate.
Shirou was already running, but the saber dodged it at the last second. Her left arm was grazed but otherwise fine.
"Master please heal me" She turned to Shirou.
"I can't do magecraft as complicated as that" Shirou scratched his head.
"I could do it.." Kazuto said, Shirou turned to him with a shocked expression and he knew he had a lot to explain later.
"Very well, master's.."
"Groomsman"
Saber raised an eyebrow as Kazuto healed her injuries.
She turned to the blue man that was waiting for her. Kazuto wasn't sure what for but he thanked him for that.
"So you dodged my undodgeable lance saber" he said in surprise.
"How could it be undodgeable if I could dodge it, Lancer?" the saber smirked.
"Blue hair, wields a lance and your noble phantasm is gae bolg, you are cu chulainn the Irish demigod am I right?"
Lancer narrowed his eyes. "It seemed my identity was revealed before I Wanted it to be, my master is calling me back so this fun will have to end" he jumped up the rooftops and disappeared from their sight.
"Alright, Emiya-san explain yourself" Shirou grabbed his shoulder before he was able to hurry off to bed.
"Um...Books at the library?" He managed. Shirou didn't buy it but he turned to saber.
"I'm confused"
"master—"
"I'm Emiya shirou, call me shirou that's Kazu"
The blonde nodded
"Then call me Saber,ma-I mean Shirou"
then she suddenly tensed up.
"Mas-Shirou another the master is coming" she dashed forward, her blade colliding with the other servant.
"Saber, stop!" He called out
They were still clashing swords and Kazuto knew whose servant that was.
"Oh my, hello Emiya-kun" she smiled and she glared at Saber.
"Out of all the classes, you summoned a Saber tch."
"Since you're safe I'll take you to the church"
Kazuto resisted the urge to call out of her. If Shirou knew they knew each other, Shirou was going to drag her in a Q&A session too.
So he said "Tohsaka-senpai why are you here and why are you taking Shirou to the church?"
Putting up the most convincing confused face he could muster.
"Sorry I have something to do with your brother he'll explain it to you after he'll get home" Rin was confused at first but she understood what he meant immediately.
He nodded and went back to the house, he hadn't even noticed that he was bare feet. Shirou made a motion for him to stay but he went with Rin anyway.
He laid down, preparing the answers for a storm of questions tomorrow.
He saw her again, the woman in his dreams. She had white hair and ruby red eyes. Kazuto knew she wasn't really human. She was curled up into a ball, like a center of something. She opened her eyes and Kazuto wasn't sure if he was looking at her through his eye or through his mind. She saw him and smiled sadly.
"Time will come, young man"
'What are you saying?' He said but it came out as a thought.
"I'm sorry I have to put you through all of this"
"She who is the time itself will descend from the eternal clock's right hand"
'Who? What do you mean' again, his voice was lost.
"I'm sorry, I couldn't protect you or your brother I'm sorry" She curled up into a ball once more.
'Please don't blame yourself please..'
He reached out to her, only to find out he couldn't move.
She disappeared into nothingness and there stood a brown haired girl in her place.
She glanced at him, briefly and returned to the space the white haired woman had once been.
"Rest in peace, Justeaze"
'So her name was Justeaze?'
"Yes, her soul dissolved but may her will remain"
'You can hear me?'
"Of course, Kazuto"
'How do you know my name?'
She smiled " I know everything than you thought I would"
'Who are you?'
"Call me Cardinal"
This wasn't originally mine, I owned this user some of his plot.
(it's in my first language so I doubt you could read it but I'll still have to give him credit.)
