15. Chapter 14: The Finale

Chapter 14: The Finale

I don't even know how long it's been since we've entered the battle, all I know is that it's getting exhausting and I don't know how much longer I can do this. Luckily, reinforcements are on their way as we were able to cripple Bruce's forces.

"You can't defeat me Nora, even if you kill me I still win" He taunts
"You're insane"
"I've got a clear shot" Mia says "Does anyone copy?" I get knocked back and land on my back. "Take the shot" All I see now is the shine of the arrow flying past me and hits the Red Death, disintegrating him.
"So that's it. We won!" Morgan says.
A few moments pass before we hear William "Guys, we have a big problem here. The Red Death, he's still alive"
"That's not possible. Blackstar just shot him with Oliver's old bow, it disintegrated him" Supergirl says
"I don't know how it's possible then but he's currently attacking Central City, wait no, Star City, Hub City, London, Paris. He's everywhere" Francine says
"How is that possible?" Josh says
"I know how" I say "It's called a time remnant. It's when you travel back in time a few seconds but if what you're saying is true then he must have done it many times over"
"So which one is the real Red Death?" Dick asks
"All of them are" I say "John we need to retreat and reorganize"
"Agreed" He says over the comms "Everyone regroup at the Hall"

Hall of Justice, Central City

"William talk to me" John says
"John, I don't know the magnitude of this. All I know is he's attacking every major city across the country and the world"
"Gypsy, can you get the collectors to help us contain this?" John asks
"I can try" Gypsy opens up a breach and walks through.
"Thea, I need you to go and talk to Nyssa and convince her and the league to aid us"
"I think a show of force might help" She suggests
"Take the Titans, in the meantime we have some pests the need exterminating"

September 9th, 2034

Nanda Parbat, Hindu Kush Mountain Range

"You know, Morgan and I could of just ran us here" I say
"Nora, one, do you really what to climb this mountain five times? Two, no offence but you wouldn't have the faintest clue where to go" Thea says
"Speaking of, how much longer do we have to go?" Morgan asks
"Not too much further so long as we're not..." Suddenly multiple League Assassins are thrown into view. "... caught. The Red Death must be attacking Nanda Parbat" We start running towards the ancient city. "If we can get there quick enough and help defend the city, it will significantly aid our goal" Thea says. When we make it to the City, we find dozens of Red Deaths attacking the League. Fortunately for them, the Red Deaths haven't breached the main gate. We start taking down the Red Deaths and placing meta-cuffs on them until we know what to do with them. We make it to them main gate where we find the league's leader, Nyssa al Ghul.
"Thea? Why are you here in Nanda Parbat? Have you got anything to do with this assault?" Nyssa yells
"No, and I'm here to prevent this from happening across the globe"
"Explain"
"These speedsters that are attacking Nanda Parbat are... what did you call them Nora?" Thea asks.
"Time remnants"
"They're time remnants of a villain called the Red Death. Bruce Wayne"
"Al Wata-Wat. We have not heard from him since the passing of my sister"
"Al Wata what?" I ask
"No, Al Wata-Wat. In your tongue it means The Bat. Well, you aided us in our defence so you have our thanks but I doubt you came all this way from Star City to help defend us. So, what do you want?" Nyssa asks
"We need your help Nyssa to defeat the Red Death" Dick says
"Mr. Grayson. I almost did not recognize you. It's been too long"
"Are you going to help us or not?" Dick snaps
"No we cannot. We must be prepare for another assault and we must hold"
"Come on let's get out of here" Dick turns around and starts walking off.
"Dick, wait" Thea yells "Nyssa we just helped defend your home. The least you can do is now help defend ours or are you saying you've lost your sense of honor?"
Nyssa draws her sword and puts it to Thea's throat. After a moment, she drops her sword and sheaths it.
"You will have your army, Thea"
"Thank you Nyssa" We turn to walk back when Moira pipes up.
"What was all that about Dick?" She asks.
"Well you see, it's complicated. For a portion of my life, Nyssa Al Ghul was like an aunt to me. Biologically speaking, she was only the aunt of Damien however because I was also raised under the same roof, we treated each other as such, until earlier this year. After my father went berserk for power, my brother and I attempted to hide Damien from him" Dick explains
"Wait, you have another brother?" I ask
"Had. His name was Jason Todd. A few weeks before you found us, my... the Red Death had found us and Jason attempted to fight him off while we escaped. He didn't make it"
"I'm sorry Dick, I didn't know"
"After that I attempted to seek refuge here in Nanda Parbat however Nyssa would only allow Damien to remain and I would be banished. So we both left and made our way to Coast City"
"So she abandoned you. I knew Nyssa could be cold at times but I wouldn't of expected that" Thea says "The death of Talia must have hurt her, more than anyone knew, even herself"

September 10th, 2034

Hall of Justice, Central City

"Dammit! Even with the help of the League of Assassins, the Collectors, the DEO and ARGUS it's not enough" John complains "For every one of our gains, we loss ten"
"What if we attack them all at once?" Roy suggests
"Would that even be possible?" Ruby asks
"Well we could use nanobots to do it" Cisco says
"Do we know anyone who works with nanotechnology?" I ask
"Well since the Legends went dark twelve years ago, we haven't been able to contact them. Luckily the person we need left the legends long beforehand" Mom says "We have to find Ray Palmer"
"No one has been able to find him in years though Caitlin, unless" Cisco thinks for a moment before remembering something. "Nora, this is going to sound ridicules but I need you to believe that you desperately need a fairy godmother"
"What?!" I yell
"I know it sound ridicules to you and me but I need you do believe" It took all it had in my but I was able to convince myself and someone appeared.
"Nora, I am your fairy godmother" She said
"Nora, you can drop the act. We need your help" Cisco says
"Cisco? What are you doing here?" She asks
"Like I said we need your help. We need to find Ray"
"Cisco, he wants to be left alone"
"Nora, please don't make me use the connection between you and our Nora"
"Fine, but only you and Nora. No one else" She says with animosity.
"Thank you Nora" She proceeds to teleport us to the genius Ray Palmer.
"Nora! You're back al... Cisco. I thought I told you leave me alone. I'm not going to join your Justice League" Ray says
"I don't care about that anymore. We need your expertise with nanobots. We're having a serious speedster problem right now"
"I know" He proceeds to point to a tv with footage of the Red Death attacking a city. "I'll help but after that, I don't want you or anyone else other that my wife to talk to me"
"Fine, just please work as fast as you can"
"I'll send them to STAR Labs when I'm done" Nora teleports us back to the Hall of Justice.
"So wants his deal?" I ask
"Ray's gone through a lot over the past decade and I don't think he's handled it very well" Cisco explains
"What happened?"
"Well for starters, remember what your Mom was saying about the Legends disappearing?"
"Yeah"
"Ray's the only one who knows exactly what happened to them and where they are. We've all accepted the fact that they're all dead but I think something worse must've happened" Cisco Explains "And secondly, a couple of years ago Ray and Nora's son was killed by a group of assassins called the Thanatos Guild"
"We've come across them before"
"The Guild was actually targeting Ray but I guess the archer didn't account for the wind and it hit his son instead. He's been much more distant from everyone since then"
"Guys, they're back!" Ruby yells. The Young Justice along with Black Canary, Arsenal, and Speedy come waking in almost all with some sort of injury.
"John, we can't keep this us" Dinah says. "There's just too many of them"
"I had noticed one thing of note though" Thea says "These Red Deaths seem to be significantly weaker than what we fought in the past and it was the same at Nanda Parbat as well"
"That's how we'll win" Harry says "If what your saying is true, than all time remnants of the Red Death would also be produce significantly lower Speed Force energy"
"What are you getting at Harry?" Cisco asks
"Well with the new STAR Labs satellite, we're able to track any form of energy across the globe, so with a couple of modifications we should be able to track speed force energy and find the real Red Death"
"How long do you need?" John asks
"Give me a few hours. Cisco, do you mind giving me a hand?" Harry asks. Cisco opens a breach and both of them enter it.
"I'm the meantime, we need to get those nanites online. Caitlin, has STAR Labs received them?" John asks.
"They have and they're preparing them right now but we still need a delivering mechanism" Mom replies
"What if we program them to attach to Bruce himself?" Nash asks
"Theoretical, that would be the best approach but I think that technology would even exist" I say
"Actually it does" Mom says "We've been experimenting with a tracking system that uses DNA to track but it's only experimental"
"It going to have to do" John says "Nash, I need you help Caitlin and STAR Labs integrate it into the nanites. Gypsy go with them and if the Red Death attacks get everyone out" Gypsy opens a breach and the three of them go through.
"What can we do?" Dick asks
"Get out there and fight. We'll let you know when we're ready"

A few hours later

"Nora, we're ready get everyone back to the Hall" John says over the comms. I grab everyone and run back to the Hall.
"So how does this tracker of yours work Harry?" Mom asks
"Well for instance in here, I'm detecting four strong speed force energy signatures and one weak one but that can be explained due to Mr. Heart's connection to the Philosopher's Stone. Around the world excluding the Hall, I'm detecting thousands maybe tens of thousands of weak signatures but one strong one." Harry explains
"Where is he?" Dick asks
"Gotham City"
"Cisco, Caitlin. Get those nanites in the air. Also get a high quantity of them ready for the real Red Death.

Gotham City, New York

We have everyone converge on Bruce's location. It turned out to being his old lair that he used when he operated as Batman.
"I'm surprised you were able to find me in all this" He says
"You mean chaos" Dick says
"Isn't it beautiful"
"You're insane"
"Most visionaries are called insane but centuries later they're revered"
"Enough of this. Now!" Supergirl and Superman come flying in and pin him to the wall. August and I speed in and counteract his phasing.
"This is the end of you" Dick says. He injects the nanites and the Red Death collapses.
"Nora, August. Get him back to STAR Labs and secure him in a Meta-Cell" John yells. Both of us grab the Red Death and run back to STAR Labs. When we get there we see multiple breaches open and the rest of them walk through.
"Can you reprogram the nanites to separate Bruce from Dad?" Thomas asks
"We can try" Mom says. After a few moments, Mom, Nash, Harry and Cisco had reprogrammed them to bring Dad back. "Here quick. Inject him with this"
Cisco ran into the cell and injected the Red Death with the nanites.
"It's working. The nanites are separating Bruce and Barry" Mom says
"Come on Barry, push through it" Cisco says. After a few moments of fighting between Bruce and my Dad, they separate.
"Oh my god, Dad!" Thomas yells. Both Dad and Bruce fall to their knees but Bruce would recover quicker.
"It's not over yet. I am not finished with you Flash" Bruce says between breaths.
"It's over Bruce" August says "You've lost"
"Oh on the contrary Mr. Heart, you have given the key to god hood" Bruce starts charging at us but is shot by an arrow which disintegrates him. We turn around to see Dick holding the bow.
"He wasn't going to stop" He says "This was the only option" Dick sets the bow down and walks out.

September 11th, 2034

"I can't believe you're leaving just after we got you back!" I yell
"I'm sorry Nora, I have to" August says "If you went through what I did and saw what I saw, you'd be doing the same"
"Let me come with you at least"
"You can't. Harper and I have to do this on our own"
"So this is it then, the end" I say
"Not necessarily. This could be an opening to something much crazier" August optimistically says.
"Goodbye Nora. I hope eventually we see each other again" August walks off to the ARGUS helicopter to which takes off into the sunset.
