PAUL

After taking a quick shower at my place I headed over to Odessas.

It had been a long week of tiptoeing around each other, not speaking more than anything but cool collected greetings and quiet goodbyes. It took everything in me not to pleasure myself every night to the feeling of her legs wrapped around me and the smell of her arousal.

But today had seemed to take a turn. She had glanced over her shoulders with a predatory gleam in her eyes and a confrontational tone in her voice.

"You going to come over.?"

Chills swept over my body as I approached her trailer. She was rummaging around inside but I could see she had set up a small fire in the makeshift fire pit she had outside along with two lawn chairs.

I made myself comfortable in one of them as I waited for her to come out.

She shortly made an appearance clutching a bottle of scotch and a glass. She huffed as she jumped out of the doorway. "Oh hi Paul. How was the rest of working on the house?"

I eyes her suspiciously. "It went well."

This girl was a human depiction of Russian roulette. I had no idea what to expect.

"What did you want me to come over for Odessa?"

She set her drink on the ground beside her and headed back towards the door. "We're playing a drinking game."

I glanced over at the small bottle next to her chair. "That's not going to get me drunk."

She laughed, reaching into the trailer once more and bringing out a clear bottle. "I know, that's why I got you this."

The bottle of everclear she was holding was ginormous.

I glared at it. "No way. That is disgusting."

She laughed and threw a bottle of soda at me. "Chase it with this. Come on Paul live a little. Werewolves deserve to have fun too."

Sighing I took the everclear from her and grimaced. "I don't know if this is anyone's idea of fun. Also, this is definitely peer pressure."

She plopped herself into the lawn chair and made herself her own small glass of whiskey. "You can drink water but that makes the game less fun."

"What game?"

Tapping her fingers on the glass she cocked her head and looked at me. "Twenty questions."

"What are we? In middle school?"

She blinked. "Paul! It's gonna be fun. If you don't want to answer take a drink."

I laughed and shook my head at her.

She gave me a small smile. "Humor me."

"Okay."

ODESSA

"What's your favorite color?"

I was going to go easy on him at first. Ease my way into the game until I could get some answers about imprinting.

He shifted in his seat uneasily, as if he was trying to figure out what I was doing. "Grey. What's yours?"

I rolled my eyes. "You're not supposed to repeat a question Paul but I'll let it slide. Dark green."

He rolled his eyes back at me and nodded in silence. His lack of words yet dark eyes staring at me with the light of the fire flickering across his skin made me shiver. "Why don't you talk to a bunch of girls anymore like you used to?"

Paul took a sip of everclear, winced, then took a swig of soda.

I frowned. I didn't think that was that hard of a question yet. I was just genuinely curious why he wasn't such a player anymore.

"What happened to that asshole boyfriend of yours?"

I took a sip of my own drink. He was nothing more than a coward who liked to beat women. Paul definitely could never hear that or he would hunt him down and kill him. I just knew it.

Paul looked angered at my lack of response so I decided to go easy again. "If you won the lottery for a billion dollars what's the first thing you would buy?"

He looked at me for a long pause then burst of laughing.

"What's so funny?"

He held his head in his hand and chuckled to himself for a moment before lifting his eyes to meet mine. We stared at each other before he lifted his drink and took a long swig.

That was strange.

"Odessa what color will you be blessing us in your hair next?"

The answer was dark red or brown but I wanted to keep it a surprise and also I wanted to drink because being sober next to Paul was terrifying. My brain wouldn't rest. I took a long sip.

Paul raised an eyebrow at me. I winked back at him.

"What's the best thing about being a wolf?"

Shifting his chair he looked down at the ground. "Probably the moments when you're standing in the middle of the forest and you're one with nature. Like you can hear and smell everything. It's crazy."

I nodded my head and took a sip of my drink, forgetting momentarily about the game. He mimicked my motions and took another long swallow himself. "That sounds amazing."

"It is... do you miss your dad?"

Images immediately popped into my head that I didnt want to remember. I took a drink but spoke anyway. "It doesn't matter if I do, he's gone now." I felt bad for shutting his question down but I couldn't bring myself to talk about it. "What's the worst thing about being a wolf?"

Paul stood up and stared at me and paced around the fire a second chugging almost half the bottle then sad back down, grimacing.

Now he was really confusing me. What was he doing right now? I hadn't even got to the hard questions yet and he was on edge.

PAUL

I took another sip out of the huge clear liquid and felt my body warm.

I actually felt a buzz. Probably from forgetting to eat all day and the fact that I just chugged half a bottle of everclear. I was starting to feel bold. If she wanted to get me to drink to tell her how I felt or to get something out of me I was going to do the same to her.

"Why could I smell you turned on the other day Odessa?"

She froze and stared at me wide eyed.

Got her.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"I think you do."

Odessa glared and the looked away, clearing her throat. "Maybe I'm just lonely and there's just a bunch of shirtless men running around me."

"Why was it just me though?"

"You're not allowed to ask two questions in a row."

I surveyed her as she shifted in her seat before leveling her gaze to mine. "Why did you kiss me?"

Ah. The dreaded question.

"Because I've wanted to for a very long time."

ODESSA

I blinked at him. Maybe this was a bad idea.

"Are you going to do it again?"

He gave me a wicked grin. "You're not allowed to ask two questions in a row."

I rolled my eyes and he leaned forward in his seat. "Do you want me to do it again?"

I stood up quickly and glared at him. "I don't want to play this game anymore."

"Cmon Odessa you can't take the heat?"

Shoving my hair away from my face I leaned against the trailer door behind me, suddenly feeling too warm. "Fuck you Paul."

He stood up and walked towards me. I pressed myself up against the hard surface as if I could sink into it and escape.

I can't breathe.

His face was now just inches from mine and I could feel the heat of his body.

"Tell me Odessa. Please tell me what you want."

Paul lifted his hand to the thin strap of my top and pulled on it slightly. "I'll do anything you want." He murmured quietly, his eyes fixated on my collarbone before flicking up to my lips.

My breaths were now coming in short pants and I had to fight the urge to squeeze my legs together. He could definitely smell what he was doing to me right now.

I had two choices here. I could either ask him what imprinting was or let him kiss me again.

Or run.

I chose the latter option.

Ducking underneath his arms I tried to go for it. Strong arms twisted around me, capturing me in a tight grasp. Hot breath ghosted along my ear. "What are you running from?" He whispered.

A howl echoed from the distance. Paul stiffened and sighed against my neck, causing me to shiver.

He slowly backed away from me just a little bit, yet his hands remained firmly on my waist. I looked up at him into his dark eyes, which were heavy with a look of pure want.

The howl sounded again.

Paul released me and took a step back, breathing heavy. "This conversation isn't over."

I could only stand there, trying to catch my own breath.

"Go inside and do not come out till one of us comes to get you."

I raised an eyebrow and crossed my hands over my chest. "I can do what I want Paul."

"Not this time Odessa. I'm not bossing you around as Paul I'm telling you as someone trying to keep humans safe. There is a predator out and we have to catch him before this escalates."

Even though I hated to admit it he was right. Not giving him a second glance I headed back inside the trailer, my hands shaking slightly as I closed the door behind me.

PAUL

I swear to god I'm going to kill this vampire just for the sole purpose of it interrupting my moment with Odessa. Again.

Sprinting through the trees I finally caught up with Seth in wolf form.

"Dude. That bloodsucker must have came back for seconds. Jared caught his scent close to the north border."

I growled in response, images of Odessa and I pressed together yet again replaying over and over in my head.

Seth stumbled next to me.

"Jesus Paul. Again? You literally missed so many opportunities playing twenty questions."

We were racing through the forest towards the rest of our pack. I growled at him. "Oh yeah? Then tell me what the fuck I was supposed to ask her then?"

"I don't know man! If that was me I would've asked her what her favorite flower was or if she wanted to go to the movies?

If we weren't chasing down a vampire I would've tried to rip his head off.

"The movies?! Seth in what fucking world do you see that conversation going anywhere with her."

"Sorry Paul I forgot how amazing and perfect it's going with your imprint. Obviously you seem to know what you're doing and plan on telling her she's your soulmate soon. Let me know how that goes!"

I snarled and then focused immediately at the sounds of the rest of my pack shifting and going into attack mode.

We had to take this pale one down so I never had to see Odessa in danger again.
