This is Part II of the Memorial Day Special. Last time we got our intro for the second and final matchup of our two battle exposition match: Cynder vs Tommy Oliver, specifically his Green Ranger powers. So today, as is custom, we start into the fighter profiles. So today, prepare to learn a bit more about the Terror of the Skies. Also, don't be surprised if this chapter is shorter than usual. So let's not waste a minute. Here we go!

Wiz: The night of the Dragon Temple raid.. It was a night the Guardians would remember forever, for it was the night they failed. Thousands of innocent dragons killed before they could even hatch, and only the Purple Dragon survived. That is, as far as we knew.

Boomstick: Yeah it turns out that Malefor's forces stole one of the eggs without turning it into a stain on the floor.

Wiz: This was done on the orders of Malefor directly, as only a dragon born in the Year of the Dragon could access the airlock world of Convexity and release the Dark Master from his prison. And the unlucky dragon chosen for this dubious "honor" was Cynder

Boomstick: Wait, so could Spyro have filled this task as well? Because, if he could, then why would you need to kidnap another dragon to do it? Don't kill the Purple Dragon, do to it what you did to Cynder!

Wiz: Admittedly that is a good question. But nobody said Malefor was a perfect planner.

Boomstick: What is it with these villains being general idiots sometimes?

Wiz: No idea. But getting back to the point. For untold years, Cynder was subjected to... well, we really don't know what exactly. The games never elaborate on what happened to her.

Boomstick: If I had to guess, probably for the best. Considering there's no way her tail and wing blades are natural. For example.

Wiz: But eventually, Gaul, the Ape King, decided it was time and summoned Malefor's energy to expose the young Cynder to the darkness. This corruption as it's come to be called, turned her into the Terror of the Skies, the Dark Master's monster. And in this state she would stay until Spyro released her just as Malefor's spirit was released from it's prison.

Boomstick: Now free from Malefor's control, Cynder initially tried running away from the Temple, only to get captured by Sky Pirates, and then again by Gaul before being frozen in time for three years with Spyro.

Wiz: And upon her release, it was explained by a being known as the Chronicler that Cynder's exposure to the darkness had granted her abilities most uncommon.

Boomstick: Is this the version that uses lightning?

Wiz: No, Boomstick. But the powers she does have are quite unique. Namely, her four elements. Poison, Fear, Wind, and Shadow.

Boomstick: Wait, I thought Wind was one of the elements Malefor learned!

Wiz: It is. Which is what leads some people to theorize that Wind was Cynder's original element, the one she was born with, and that she gained the other three through her exposure to the darkness. And in my opinion, it makes sense.

Boomstick: But I will say, the abilities she got from Malefor are pretty sweet! Poison can damage enemies overtime, while Fear can, well, do exactly what it says on the tin and make her enemies temporarily afraid of her!

Wiz: Using Wind, Cynder can sweep up enemies from a distance. And Shadow allows her to dash across the battlefield in an instant.

Boomstick: And leave GHOSTS to damage enemies!

Wiz: Wrong version, Boomstick. But Shadow does come with an interesting side effect. Any enemy hit by it temporarily turns to her side and acts like a bodyguard of sorts, attacking their own allies.

Boomstick: Wait, she's got mind control powers?!

Wiz: Limited, but yeah, I guess so. But it turns out this wasn't even the only power she got from Malefor. It turns out that somehow, Malefor imbued Cynder with the ability to use a variant of Aether. Often labelled Dark Aether by the fanbase.

Boomstick: Wait, as in the same power Spyro uses?

Wiz: It's unclear if they're the same intensity or not, but since it's artificially induced, it makes sense to assume that it's not the same as Spyro's, since he's a natural Purple Dragon. But Cynder does have one advantage over Spyro in the element field, she can actually hold more elemental energy than Spyro can.

Boomstick: Not to mention she's got much more combat experience than Spyro does.

Wiz: And just about as much durability. Given she withstood the same blow from the Golem that Spyro did. Easily putting her durability at around the same 2 Million tons of force.

Boomstick: All in all, she sounds like a complete badass.

Wiz: And despite all that's happened to her, with Spyro by her side, Cynder found everything she could ever want. A home, a family, and even love. Which she herself admitted. Truly she has come back from the darkness, and found the light she missed in her youth. But if you threaten her, be prepared for the fight of your life.
