Chapter 8
Aaron's POV:
I groaned as I woke up with the worst headache I have ever experienced, my vision seeming to still go in and out like static on one of those old tv's, it just made it worst. I was laying a soft and comfortable bed, with a beeping machine that was a heart monitor. Was I in a hospital? Did that mean that Virgil got us out? I look around the hospital room, finding that Virgil wasn't there. Which meant my knight in dark shiny armor was either in the hospital waiting area, or had went home after getting us out of the woods. I squeezed my eyes shut, as the room flickered from woods to clean white walls. No, Virgil would leave me like that. He was too noble for that. I glanced at the door as it opened suddenly, revealing my dad.
I could feel my eyes widen in surprise and tried to immediately get out of bed and go to him. Last time I saw him he was bleeding out on the floor with a killer Proxy standing over him. "Dad!" My legs buckled as my headache and vision spiked, really bad. Thank God, my father was close enough to catch me.
"Careful, son. You hit your head pretty hard." He cautioned.
"Me? Your guts were hanging out of your body! What about mom and -"I began to asked but stopped when I saw his face. My mom and sister had not survived.
"I'm sorry son. I was able to call for help. But it was too late for them." He said, soothingly sitting me back on the bed.
"How are you walking?" I asked.
"Pain meds and Fatherly love." He chuckled a playful tone that meant he and his buddies had something to do with his ability to be able to move and he wasn't going to tell me because; Classified. "Everything's okay now, Aaron." He comforted.
"What about Virgil?" I asked, wanting to know where he was and if he was coming back.
I visibly seen my Father's eyes harden.
"What about that boy?" He countered with steel in his voice.
My parents hated it when I talked about Virgil, but they couldn't control who I liked and wanted to spend time with. Virgil was my person. He was everything I liked, everything I was looking for. Independent. Tough on the outside, yet sweet on the inside. A good listener. Grounded. He may have a heart made of steel, but that was because life had did him dirty. I could see the person Virgil really was. He came off as aloof and unapproachable. But I was determine to win him and show him that I loved him. And after everything that we had been through now, I knew, he loved me too. Now all we had to do was communicate those feeling into words. "Dad, he helped me." I insisted.
"He's a bad influence is what he is. If you had to be gay, why couldn't you find someone that was on your level?!" My father huffed. Standing to leave.
I rolled my eyes not in the mood for this conversation again. I wanted Virgil and I didn't want to argue due to the sever headache pounding away in my head. "Nothing you say will make me change my mind Dad. I love him." I said, before he could close the door, behind him.
He paused only for a moment but did not comment.
I narrowed my eyes at his silence. I loved my parents, but I also didn't trust them when it came to Virgil. My Dad was one who would make sure he got what he wanted. I climbed out of bed determined to leave this room. I had to find Virgil and repair whatever hurtful words my Dad might have said to him.
Virgil POV:
Everything hurt. Why must everything hurt? The room he had found himself in was blessedly dark, the floor a bit cold, probably didn't help that the only medial attention that seemed to have been given to him was a poorly placed bandage that didn't even help with the bleeding. They were going to let him bleed out in here. Alone. It wasn't a new thought for Virgil, he always knew he would end up dying alone. He just think that he would die by bleeding out. The squeak of a door opening accompanied by a light broke Virgil from his depressing thoughts, but he didn't acknowledge it. He was just too tired. He didn't even know why he tried so hard to help Aaron.
"Takeout, Takeout, Takeout. Why is it that I always seem to find you in the darkest of spaces?"Eyeless Jack's Voice tsked, playfully.
Virgil could care less.
"Nothing to say? Then again you are more on the quiet side aren't you." The Proxy continued on, footsteps coming closer.
A hand gripped Virgil's shirt and another hand gripped his shoulder turning him so that he was being maneuvered, to where he was now forced to look at the demon that caused all of this. Eyeless Jack had his mask turned sideways, revealing only half of his eyeless face. "Hmm…." A hard pressure pushed hard on the stab wound, making Virgil hiss from pain. The grip on him let him go in favor of examining the blood that stain grey toned fingers. The eyeless proxy brought the blood covered hand up to his face to lick. Virgil watch emotionless as the cannibal before him made a disgusted face before spitting the blood out.
"As expected." Eyeless Jack hummed. Standing up and walking back the way he came. "You taste disgusting. Sit tight Takeout. We have cleaning to do." The Cannibal said with a smirk as he left Virgil alone again in the darkness.
Virgil was glad to see him go, but now he just could let himself die. He grunted as he tried to make himself move. He had to find Aaron. Aaron was still in danger.
