"Hey, Kaminari, wanna hang out with us over the weekend?"
Mina asked as she packed up her bag after class, getting ready to head back to the dorms. It was Friday, so classes were finished for the week, and the Bakusquad was probably going to hang out like they always did on the weekends.
Still, Kaminari couldn't make it this time, he had something else on his mind and his schedule.
"Ah, sorry, I have a family thing I gotta go to." He responded with a smile just regrettable enough that he wasn't going, in the process of packing up his own bag and throwing the strap over his shoulder. "See you guys on Monday!" He headed out, having already given the signed permission slip to Aizawa that he would be at his parent's house for the weekend.
He actually tried to do his homework on Friday after school, he really did. Shut himself in his room with only minimal distractions, and yet his mind kept wandering anyway. He gave up about two hours in, deciding to just watch some tv instead, and hunkered down into his bed with his pikachu plushy in his lap.
Wonder of all wonders Shinsou actually texted him during the second episode, and Kaminari gladly accepted his interruption. After bugging Shinsou about it for a little bit, Kaminari managed to get him to agree to facetime and watch the show together. They watched it late into the night, since Shinsou had a hard time sleeping and Kaminari was just a bundle of energy.
Eventually, Denki felt his phone buzz within the folds of his blanket, digging it out from the fluff with one hand as the other was currently propping him up so that his face could be close to the laptop screen.
[2:36 am] unknown number - 10 pm tomorrow, the usual place
[2:36 am] unknown number - don't be late
Kaminari knew that he should have been expecting a message from them since they were meeting tomorrow, but it still surprised him, and drew his attention away from the show that they were watching.
"Who's that? Everything okay?" Shinsou's concerned voice brought him back to what was going on, and Kaminari quickly turned his phone over as he looked up at his computer screen again.
"Hm? Yeah, it's fine! Just a friend wanting to know if I'm still gonna hang out with them tomorrow." He made sure to pop his usual smile at the purple haired boy on the other end too, just to make it more convincing.
"Oh, okay."
Kaminari waited till it looked like Shinsou had turned his attention back to the show before going back to the text and sending out a reply.
[2:47 am] sender - okay
He didn't have to bother with saying anything else; an acknowledgment of the message was enough to satisfy the other. Saying too much else just made him annoyed, that much Kaminari knew by now.
He hung up the call with Shinsou after that episode finished, reassuring his friend that he was definitely fine and just needed to sleep. Which wasn't a lie, Denki would be staying up pretty late the next day so he would need all the energy he could get, and not just what he got from his quirk.

Saturday wasn't any better for Denki's attempts at finishing his homework, not just because he had a hard time anyways, but his focus definitely was not in it today. He'd figure something out on Sunday night before class, like he usually did when weekend meetings like this would happen.
Heading out the door in the evening, Kaminari threw his backpack over his shoulder, calling over it to his mom and letting her know that he would be spending the night at his friend's house before he stepped out. Of course, he wasn't actually going to, but with his parents thinking he's with his friends and his friends thinking that he's with his parents, that left him open to do what he actually was going to do.
Heading down to the train station he popped in his headphones while he waited, turning on some music lightly to drown out the silence that was the mostly empty train station. This was the last one of the night, so there weren't many people waiting for it, and Kaminari could tell he was getting a few looks for being out so late at night. Whatever, he had bigger concerns at the moment.
Exiting the train, Kaminari took a quick look around as he pulled out his headphones. Obviously, the person he was meeting up with didn't exactly hang around in the nicest parts of the city, so he had to be careful. It was just coming up on 10 o'clock now, so he wouldn't have to wait long for his pickup.
Sure enough, not a few minutes later did a car with heavily tinted windows roll up to the sidewalk, purring slightly as it idled there. The covered license plate was one hint that it was the right ride, but it also helped that the driver cracked the window far enough that Kaminari could see who was inside.
"Hey." Kaminari greeted with a half wave, reigning his usual behavior and desire to be more lively around other people. He stepped up to the car, first tossing his backpack into the back seat before sliding into the passenger seat and buckling up. He might have been associating with illegal people, but he still was going to be safe.
The ride was punctuated with silence as per usual, Kaminari alternating between looking down at his phone and out the window, purposely trying not to think about who he was in the car with. He had done this enough times that it was mostly routine and he didn't think about it too much, but occasionally his brain liked to remind him just what the hell he had gotten himself into.
Obviously, he hadn't meant for something so small as the first time to turn into something like this, but now he was almost afraid that it was too late to back out. And he couldn't cause drama now, not when he was so close to earning his provisional hero license.
Once they arrived to their destination, Kaminari waited for the car to be turned off before he got out, pulling his hood up over his tell tale blonde hair and black stripe. The backpack was for later, so he wouldn't need it yet and left it in the back seat.
There was one outdoor light on the side of the warehouse that they had pulled up to, lighting up the door and casting long shadows over Kaminari and the figure that finally emerged from the car.
Denki followed him inside, making sure to close the door tightly after entering. It wouldn't lock unless you closed it firmly, thanks to an accident earlier in the year.
"Ah, Dabi. You finally made it this time. And you brought the lightning kid too, least you're doing your job right."
Dabi flipped off Shigaraki as he made his way over to the group already inside, Kaminari coming over as well, though he only smiled awkwardly and waved at Toga in greeting. She seemed much more pleased to see him than he was to see her, but not quite as crazy as he heard that she was around Midoriya.
"The bird is coming today, so watch yourself." Dabi explained as Kaminari settled into his usual spot, looking back up to the cremation flame user that was still standing.
"The bird?" The question was hardly out of Kaminari's lips before the door opened and answered it for him, a cool breeze drifting in as well with the movement of wings.
He could only watch in slightly stunned silence as the Number Two Hero Hawks walked into the League of Villains meeting and smiled at Dabi.
