Rumors were a weird thing. Words on the wind that sometimes could only be trusted with a grain of salt. But it was enough to get a certain blond's curiosity captivated.

It wasn't new that Bruce Wayne had a different woman by his side. But what was new, was how much buzz the woman seemed to generate. The stories made it sound like she was not his usual type he had beside him. Or how captivated he seemed to be with her. And this was enough to get Harley curious to see who would be woman enough to utterly sway the perpetual playboy.

Dressed up in her favorite pink, out of style dress. That she totally paid for! Harley got plenty of looks as she walked around the event. Her stark pale skin as well as the older style dress among all the ladies in the latest fashion. But it didn't stop her. Easily sneaking in past the guards. A bit disappointed at the lack of security that was for such beautiful works of art. But that wasn't her goal today. She only had one thing in mind: To track down, and see who it was that had created such tasty stories surrounding her.

And for all the looks she got for being out of place, she could tell the room was keeping their side eyes locked in a certain direction. Which helped the sneaking crook find her goal.

Seeing the woman from behind, Harley could see that the shorter woman was curvy. Not to a large degree, but more well fed and healthy then most of the twiggy woman that she was shouldering past to get a better look. Earning some scoffs from the offended women, but they mattered little to Harley. Her target was locked. Pushing through a small ring that formed around the woman in her little black and red dress.

"Aw... this is too easy."

Harley was a bit disappointed, at how harmless the woman seemed. Her back turned to her. Seeming that she was distracted with something. She was shorter then Harley was. And didn't seem to notice as she was crossing the room to get into range. A hand hovering, just itching to grab the woman. Tips of her fingers twitched in anticipation of the catch.

'Too easy...'

But it wasn't as easy at all. Reaching out to grab the woman by the shoulder, the shorter woman seemed to vanish out of her grip. In a single blink, gone leaving her hand open and empty. Flexing her fingers to see that her grip was indeed void of the shoulder she had tried to get. It wasn't like she wasn't trying to grab without purpose. But the smaller woman was like an eel, slipping out of the grip before it was solidified. With the woman dancing a few steps away to turn on her would be attacker. Wide eyes looking over at Harley, before widening still as she seemed to recognize the incognito clown.

"H-Harley?"

"Wait, I know that voice!"

Fist smacking an open palm, Harley recalled why the woman knew her. The small nasally woman was in fact, familiar. Though of out her normal outfit of Oranges and Reds. Something like her own outfit, both of them more dressed up for the occasion. She could see the brunette looking her up and down for a second, which made Harley twirl for her to see her favorite dress. Wanting to show it off. Letting her get a good look before holding a conversation.

"Harley, what are you doing here?"

"I could ask you the same thing, miss V."

"Well I am-"

"Surprised to see you all hoity-toity-ed up here at Bruciey's event. Looking good though!"

"Harley I-"

"Oh! You might know!"

"Know wha-"

"I hear he has a new one this time. Do you know anything about that? Rumors say that she is quite the dame! Though kinda short. And a bit nerdy. With dark hair-Hey! You fit that description to a T, misses V."

Closing the gap between them, Harley got a bit grabby with Velma. Running a hand through her hair, and lightly tugging at the edges of her shoulders and the cuffs of the bell sleeves. Noticing the red embroidered trim through out it. With a rose pattern mixed in with little versions of Velma's glasses mixed into the pattern. Clearly added, but well made custom addition to the dress. Harley finds Velma slightly embarrassed with what Harley was saying. But trying not to show it.

But Harley was not as dumb as she might be perceived to be with her voice and speech patterns. Easily picking up on Velma's embarrassment and lack of denying it as well. And Bruce had good taste, as the dress sat on her well, and was not the norm but worked with the shorter woman. A big grin was plastered on the blond's face, watching Velma squirm. But in a good way! Though Velma tried to distract Harley with some questions of her own.

"What brings you, here?"

"Oh, I just wanted to see her."

"Who?"

"The woman who nabbed Bruciey, all to herself."

"Wait, why are you out of-"

"I was totally thinking of kidnapping her for old sake because of Bruciey. But I don't think I want to.

"...W-why not?"

"Not my place too. Maybe if it was one of these broads! But, he actually looks happy right now. And it would be a shame to ruin it. Poor guy could use a break."

Tossing a thumb at where Bruce stood within close enough distance, the man had on still a dopy grin on her face. And not the fake one he usually put on when he was on a date. She had ruined enough of those to know. Harley was wondering who could make Bruce smile the way he was that night. He had a glow about him that she hadn't seen before. And it suited him. And now she knew why.

"You take care of that lug, you hear? He's one of the good ones."

"But Harley, I thought you were here to kidnap Bruce's girlfriend?"

Taking a look at Velma, Harley tilted her head confused. Thinking about it again, and what had happened earlier. She only shook her head with a grin.

"Yep, but I changed my mind. As well as you already caught me before. I want to cut my losses. Take care now, Misses V. Say hi to Bruciey for me. Congrats to the two lovebirds!"

Closing the distance between them again, Harley got the drop on Velma as she wrapped her hands around her for a squishy hug. Shaking the confused woman. Before, there was a tiny bit of bloodlust that trigged Velma's gut reaction. But this time, the woman attacking her had no such negativity. Sweeping her off her feet and shaking her a bit in happy moment before dropping her back to her feet.

Turning on a heel, Harley tossed a wave at the now slightly frumpy woman. Beaming a grin across her face as she moved out of the crowd that had been hovering even more with the exchange between the two that didn't belong. She knew that look very well, and Velma didn't deserve that kind of treatment. She didn't care how they looked at her. Debating on stealing a few things, it was less of a good idea in case Velma did go all goodie-goodie on her. So, she had to think of another way to get at these women without Velma finding out.

Seeing a particular sour face on a nearby woman, the clown got an idea.

The woman was an older, well put together dame. Dressed to the nines and just oozed to be a great mark. Someone who lived and breathed in this society and didn't like anyone who didn't belong. Harley knew the type well. Great Marks, but this wasn't why she sought her out. The belittling glare and curled in distain lips were whispering no doubt mean things about Velma to the small gaggle of other women gathered around her. Which just wouldn't do.

Looking at her open hand, Harley curled three of her fingers to keep the pointer finger and thumb pointing out. Wiggling her eyebrows, she slid into the circle, coming up behind the man woman causing the discourse. Lightly poking the woman in the back, among all the fluttering trappings she was wearing, she got up close and hissed a 'shhhh' into her ear for only her to hear.

"You are going to listen and going to listen well, you hear. Nod your head slightly if you do." Adding a poke with her finger to get the point, across. Which earned the smallest of nods.

"Good. Now, my girl over there is a friend of mine. You better not think about doing anything to her, or I'll hear about it. And you don't want to have me hear about it... right?" Earning another restrained nod. Trying to not bring attention to what was going on, less something happened to her.

"Good. Glad we are at an understanding."

Patting the woman on the shoulder, Harley retracted her finger from her back and disappeared into the crowd. Skipping a bit, feeling happy to have do something to help.

"It's nice to do something good for a change..."
