Tina went back to their room very late, so she wouldn't have to talk to the other girls. Zephirina helped her a bit but it wasn't enough, she was still mad at Hazel. She got up early to be in the bathroom alone; well, not alone because that what Regina do every morning, but Regina didn't say anything about that. Tina was actually thankful because Regina could say something awful about so that was the better option. She is also decided to eat with Phiri so she waited for them to come. Tina found out they don't eat together at all. In fact, Astrid was the only one who eat with Phiri. Imogen sat with her sister and the older girls. Chloe was with her twin brother Clint and Mabel was all the time with Oscar and Marine.
"You two really alright with them not hanging out with you at all?" Tina wondered. They didn't talk much because Phiri didn't start a conversation near Astrid because she wasn't sure if Tina is alright with it.
"I forced them to sit with us once a week, but it's supposed to be their choice, you know most of the students don't sit in the meals with their roommates because it's their only time to be with their families, especially if they are in different houses." Astrid explained.
"She is right, we just the oldest so we only have our roommates or other friends. Look at Preston for example, he eats with his brother from Horned Serpent." Phiri pointed out on two black haired kids who sat not far from there.
"Right, I remember, his brother competed in the Charms Chalice." Tina recalled.
"Yes, exactly." Phiri confirmed.
"Imagine what would have happened if Clint would sorted into a different house." Astrid mentioned.
"We wouldn't see her at all," Phiri completed the sentence and laughed.
"They are really close, aren't they?" Tina asked, she felt like an outsider, she didn't know how to blend in the conversation.
"Yeah, they always together, I'm surprised he haven't come visit us in our room yet." Astrid joked. Phiri chuckled in response but they back to be quiet for the rest of the meal.
"Tina, come to our room when you want us to go to the library." Phiri told her as they went out the dining room.
"You going to study in the library?" Astrid asked them.
"Yes, Prott gave me extra homework." Tina rolled her eyes.
"Which one?" Astrid wondered and the three of them laugh.
"Well, both of them could have do that." Phiri reminded them.
"That is true." Tina agreed.
"Can I come with you? I don't want to stay alone in the room." Astrid asked them. Phiri looked at Tina because it supposed to be her decision.
"Sure, why not," Tina shrugged.
"Great, so we'll be in our room when you want us to go." Phiri smiled at her and as their ways split to their different lessons.
Nella waited for Tina at the entrance of the Herbology classroom. "You waited for me?" Tina asked her, most of the times they arrived together to the lesson so it was weird for her.
"Yes, I needed to talk to you," Nella told her.
"What is it?" Tina asked, though she had a feeling what Nella wants to say.
"You can be mad at Hazel, we get it, but me and Evelyn, we are not part of it. We are still your friends. You can't avoid us, we can tell Hazel to go sit somewhere else in the meals, but you are with us and you eating with us." Nella clarified.
"Alright, I'm sorry, I just don't want to speak with Hazel now." Tina mentioned.
"I know, but that doesn't give you a pass from eating with us. You are the one who right in here, Hazel shouldn't say that. We are on your side, not hers. So, we are staying with you. We'll tell her so go eat with someone else." Nella reassured her.
"Thanks." Tina smiled.
"Great, so you are sitting with us in lunch." Nella stated.
"Girls, I think the lesson is about to start." Dallin Olsen told them and got inside the greenhouse.
"Come on, we should go inside." Tina told Nella.
In the greenhouse there were purple flowers. "Nice, we are going to study on Aconites," Nella smiled, "I should've come with it instead of Tillandsia."
"I think your flower is fine." Tina whispered her.
"Hello students, today we'll learn about one of the most important flowers in the wizarding world, Aconite." Professor Moss begin her lesson.
"Wait, isn't it poisonous?" Tommy asked, worriedly.
"To No-Majes. We use this flower in many potions, it's not poisonous to us." Regina rolled her eyes.
"Well, unless you are a werewolf." Dallin laughed.
"Yeah, that true." Bruce Reynard chuckled.
"Does werewolves exist?" Tommy's eyes became wide open.
"Yes, just like magic is real, so as werewolves." Darrel Wyatt, who was in the same room with Tommy, said.
"Aren't they dangerous?" Tommy gasped.
"Very." Leroy shrieked.
"So, I guess it's become a lesson about Werewolves?" Tina whispered to Nella.
"Well, I have a question about that." Nella mentioned and raised her hand.
"Students, please, calm down, you don't need to worry you won't meet werewolves, they very rare," Professor Moss reassured them, "yes, Nella, you have a question?"
"Yes, Aconites also known as Wolfsbane, that means it supposed to be lethal to werewolves?" Nella wondered.
"I guess it's logical assumption, but I don't really know, you should ask Professor Jauncey about Werewolves not me," Professor Moss answered, "now please let me continue the lesson."
The professor explained to them about the flower until the end of the lesson. When she finished her lecture Nella raised her hand again. Moss gave her permission to talk. "Can I take the Aconites with me? Or they have any use? Because I'm running out of flowers and I need some to my pumpkin." Nella mentioned.
"Aren't you preferring to use flowers from the Bromeliads family instead? I think they would more suited for that or any other kind of flower." The professor told her.
"I just running out of flowers and I don't want to waste my other flowers." Nella begged her.
"No, these flowers need to be in the apothecary storage for the use in potions." Professor Moss clarified.
"She'll managed." Tina stated, and dragged Nella away.
"But from where I supposed to get flowers?" Nella groaned while they went from the yard back to the castle.
"Ask your parents to send you some." Tina shrugged.
"Wait, you know the mountain there aren't some flowers to pick around here?" Nella wondered.
"I didn't see any." Tina answered.
"We should go to travel on the mountain anyway. I'll ask Sadie for permission this afternoon so we could go on Sunday." Nella decided.
"Don't you want to watch Quidditch?" Tina asked her, because the first Quidditch game of the year was in the next Sunday.
"No, it's not even our house, I prefer to collect flowers for my pumpkin." Nella answered.
"What are you planning to do anyway?" Tina wondered.
"You'll see." Nella smirked.
"At least you are creative. I don't think anyone else would do something similar." Tina smiled.
By now they arrived to the DADA classroom and sat together on the table Nella always sat with Evelyn. Professor Jauncey sat on her chair wating for the students. "I'll ask her about werewolves." Nella whispered to Tina.
"Are you sure it's a good idea?" Tina whispered back.
"No, but I'll do that anyway." Nella said and raised her hand.
"Nella, you have a question before we'll start the lesson? You didn't understand something in the homework?" Professor Jauncey wondered.
"The homework about ghosts was alright. I want to ask about werewolves," Nella stated, ignoring the gasps from the other students.
"They exist in the wizarding world?" Elton asked, scared.
"You got to be kidding me." Regina sighed and rolled her eyes. Leroy covered his face with his hands.
"We learned about Aconite in Herbology and we somehow talked about werewolves in the lesson." Tina explained properly before Nella continue the question.
"Yes, and Aconite also known as wolfsbane. So, I wondered what it influences on werewolves and if it's lethal to them. What would happen if a werewolf would touch the flower? Or if it would try to drink a potion with the flower? Professor Moss told me to ask you on werewolves because she didn't know." Nella mentioned.
"Well, Nella, this is difficult question. We don't know much about werewolves, everyone who bitten disappear, we don't have many information about them." Professor Jauncey told them.
"Or they executed right away after their capturing." Oscar added.
"Without a trial or anything, just like that?" Diamond wondered.
"They're dangerous, and they can cause a breach and reveal our world to No-Majes. If they captured, they would be executed right away. My mother responsible on recording and writing the names of anyone who get executed so I know that what happened." Oscar explained.
"Isn't it a bit cruel?" Emmet wondered.
"No, the statue of secrecy is the most important thing we have to protect ourselves." Marine stated.
"But it's not their fault they are werewolves they were bitten or born that way?" Janet mentioned, looking up from her parchment.
"It's doesn't matter, they shouldn't be existing, they are dangerous to our community." Clarence told them.
"Even Squibs can't stay in our world they just get obliviate. At least that what my mother told me. She works in a healing center and they checked if the kids have magic when they young. If not they get obliviated and send away to No-Maj orphanage." Phil Atwood from the first room, stated.
"What Squibs are?" Hazel asked out loud, looking for Evelyn to get an answer, but Evelyn seemed very unfocus right now.
"They are kids to magical families without magic." Gertrude explained.
"Like us. We are kids with magic to non magical families so they are opposite from us." Elena realized.
"How we got to talk about squibs from werewolves?" Evelyn muttered.
"Students, I think that enough. I know werewolves is an interesting subject and I can do a lesson about that instead of continue about ghosts. But you don't need to worry werewolves they are barley here. If someone got bitten, it will try to leave America as soon as it could." The professor explained. She let them do this discussion because she thought it's important for them to get to know each other. Besides, she was responsible on the first years and it also gave her a chance to get to know them better.
"This is the second time today the lesson getting out of control because werewolves, good job, Nella." Tina whispered to her ear. They both felt like the lessons very similar and the students' reaction were the same both now and on Herbology.
"The first time wasn't my fault and I'll stop asking about werewolves after this lesson," Nella sighed, "So, you don't know how to answer to my question?" She asked the teacher.
"I can only assume that werewolves can't touch this flower, but no one tried to check it." The professor gave the best answer she could provide.
"Wait, so there aren't any books about them? We actually know anything for sure about werewolves?" Seth Larson from the second room asked.
"Yes, there are books about Werewolves, but nobody ever tried to check the effects of Aconites on them. In the curriculum of first years, we are supposed to learn about werewolves' bites. It was supposed to be the lesson in a few months but we can learn about that now." The professor decided.
"They are dangerous?" Louisa asked, Oscar stated it before, but she wants to hear that from the professor.
"I mentioned it before." Oscar rolled his eyes.
"Yes, werewolves are extremely dangerous. You can't cure Lycanthropy, which is the term of becoming a werewolf." Professor Jaucney clarified. "There are few ways someone become a werewolf. One, it bitten by werewolf. Two, it cursed with Lycacomia and three, it was born to a werewolf parent. You don't have to worry about anyone of those things because most of the werewolf ran away so they won't get executed." Professor Jauncey reassured them.
"What about the curse?" Clarence wondered.
"No one knows how to cast it, the incantation or the hand movement not listed anywhere." The professor answered, smiling, hoping they are calmer now. "One of the ways to make the bleeding stop after werewolf bite is mixture of powdered silver and dittany."
"It better to die if you got bitten then live as a werewolf," Oscar stated, "not that you could actually live if the MACUSA would find out."
"I think I'll stop the lesson now; it was an intense one so you deserve a break. I hope you alright and not to shaken from the lesson, if you are troubled and want to talk about that please come to me." Professor Jauncey told them with a smile.
"That was amazing idea, Nella, we got a creepy lesson about werewolves instead of normal lesson about ghosts. You had to ask this question?" Regina called.
"I was curious about that." Nella shrugged.
"So, you decided to give us nightmares?" Marine folded her arms.
"It wasn't on purpose! I didn't think Professor Jauncey make it the whole lesson!" Nella retorted.
"We are going to eat." Tina stated and grabbed Nella and Evelyn hands so they walk with her. It was also a way to make sure Hazel won't come with them.
"Thanks," Nella muttered after they went far enough from the other students.
"You're welcome, they not worth it, we shouldn't fight with them." Tina reminded her.
"Houston, are you alright? You seem upset." Nella wondered.
"Yes, I'm fine, it was just disturbing lesson." Evelyn answered.
"Your family secret is that you have a werewolf in the family?" Tina blurted out, she tried to joke around, but she didn't think if it appropriate.
"Don't you dare!" Evelyn called, "It's not funny. This is the worst idea someone ever tried to guess about my family's mystery! My father decided he wants us to have privacy. But everyone thinks we keep secrets from the world, that we hide something. Come with me I'll show you."
The three girls went back to their room, they had some extra time because Jauncey let them go early. "What we are doing here?" Tina wondered.
"I'll show you all the nonsense that published on my family." Evelyn said and took out 'Quodpot Times' magazine. "The last article says my mother is dead. Well, she is definitely alive, she is the one who wrote the letter I got from my family few days ago! It's all stupid rumors!"
"Why haven't you told us about that? It's very harsh they attack your family." Nella asked, putting her hand on Evelyn's shoulder.
"They are not attacking my family. It's just rumors and it's part of being a famous Quodpot family. I grew up with that, I get use to all of these, but it's not fun reading things like that. Every few months there is a new rumor or guess about our secret. But we just an ordinary family. My father wanted we have a normal childhood; he didn't want us to be under the spotlight and my mom doesn't like that either." Evelyn explained.
"It's probably very hard to live like that." Tina muttered.
"Yes, but it's doesn't bother me, it's part of my family legacy, I wouldn't replace it. It's just that the lesson and what you said very upset me. I try to ignore all of that most of the times." Evelyn lowered her head.
"I'm sorry," Tina said.
"I'm sorry too, I shouldn't ask about werewolves." Nella added.
"I'm not mad at you, it's my problem not yours, don't worry. We should go eat now." Evelyn told them and they went to the dining room.
"See? Hazel sits with the other No-Maj-borns. You don't need to worry." Nella smiled to Tina. Hazel stared at them but didn't do anything else.
"So, you are not disappearing on us again like you did in the morning!" Evelyn scolded her and they went to sit at an empty table.
"Alright, I'm sorry about that." Tina laughed.
"Hey, Tina, how did you even heard about my family's mystery secret rumors?" Evelyn suddenly wondered.
"There is a boy in the Orphanage who really likes Quodpot." Tina explained.
In History of Magic, they learned about one of the founders of Hogwarts, the British school, for a really weird reason.
"Why do we study about that?" Marine asked.
"Because it's part of Isolt's story. Your homework is to write about her family history and why in our school song she named Morrigan." Sophie Prott summed the lesson.
"It's such an easy homework." Regina smiled.
Tina decided she'll do the homework in the library with the stupid essay on Emeric. She didn't even get inside her room so Hazel won't try to speak with her. She went directly to the last room in the hallway and knocked on the door. "Hey, Tina." Imogen opened the door and greeted her.
"Hey, I came to Rina and Astrid we are going to the library." Tina explained.
"Yes, we are coming." Phiri called and after a minute she and Astrid arrive at the doorway.
"Here we are." Astrid said and they walked to the main room and left the house area.
"So, how was your day, Tina?" Phiri asked her.
"With werewolves." Tina joked.
"What? How does it even possible?!" Astrid exclaimed.
"We talked in Herbology about flower called wolfsbane and Nella wondered it's effects on werewolves and then she asked Professor Jauncey about that and we did a lesson about werewolves instead of ghosts." Tina explained.
"I'm glad I'm not in your class, it doesn't sound like a great lesson, but at least there weren't any real werewolves in there," Astrid muttered.
"Yes, it's sounds like a scary lesson." Phiri added.
"Little bit, but it was interesting." Tina shrugged.
"What books do you need?" Astrid asked as they arrived to the library.
"On Transfiguration and History, I brought the homework of the other Prott as well." Tina sighed.
"We also brought the homework she gave us yesterday." Phiri told her as Astrid went to bring some books.
"Well, we should start with the History and then we'll help you with the other Prott nonsense." Astrid laughed.
They wrote an essay about Isolt's family. Apparently, she was a descendant of Irish Animagus named Morrigan and Isolt use it as a nickname. "Well, I think we finished. We found the families she was related to them." Tina stated.
"Yes, and I also found you Emeric." Astrid handed her a book about British history.
"In an history book? But I thought he was the related to Transfiguration. And why we learn about him if he evil?" Phiri wondered.
"I have no idea; I didn't listen at all in class. But Professor Prott is evil it does make sense he'll teach us about evil people through history." Astrid laughed.
"You didn't have this lesson yet?" Tina asked them and started to write information about Emeric.
"No, we have Transfiguration only tomorrow." Phiri shrugged.
"So, you can't help me." Tina sighed.
"We found you books." Astrid reminded her.
Suddenly Phil Atwood approached to their table. "I'm assuming the books about British History are here?"
"Well, yes, we all were needed to find Isolt's ancestors." Phiri told him; he was with her in Ancient Spells class so she knew him.
"But I haven't finished. I needed to do an extra work on Emeric." Tina told him.
"Why female Prott gave you an extra work on Emeric the evil?" Phil wondered.
"No, male Prott is the one gave me this essay." Tina said.
"Well, last time I checked, they didn't switch their subjects, even though they are married couple." Phil joked.
"What do you mean?" Phiri wondered.
"Emeric the Evil is a British historic figure. If you got to write an essay from Silas Prott, I think you're supposed to write on Emeric Switch." Phil stated.
"There are two Emerics?" Tina muttered.
"I'm sorry for not noticed." Astrid blushed.
"Yes, Emeric Switch is a transfiguration professor we learned about yesterday and Emeric the evil is a medieval wizard who kill many wizards." Phil explained.
"So, what I'm supposed to do with this essay?" Tina pointed out on the parchment in frustration.
"Keep it, I'm sure Sophie Prott would teach us about Emeric the Evil at some point. Now, I take the history books so I could do the homework myself good luck with the essay on Emeric Switch." Phil said and took few books with him and left.
"At least we finished with these books." Astrid murmured.
"Well, luckily Phil saw your mistake imagine what would have happened if you would give that essay to Professor Prott." Phiri mentioined.
"He would punish me and his wife would have sent a letter to Pearl, I would be in so much trouble." Tina sighed.
"Yes, exactly, look at the bright side. Now, you did homework for couple of months from today and the Protts won't find out you mixed their subjects." Astrid laughed.
Tina wasn't sure what she thinks on Astrid jokes, but she was thankful she didn't ask who Pearl was. "I can't believe I need to write a new essay," she sighed.
Author note:
In the wizarding world of Harry Potter, you can become a werewolf only if you bitten at the time of full moon. But I don't think my characters suppose to know that. Remus thought his child might being born a werewolf so that is logical assumption to make. The curse was mentioned in a prop at one of the movies written in a book. We know it's not true and I know many things in the movies are not true but I thought I still could use it because it's probably not known in this time how exactly you could become a werewolf.
I hope you handled with the number of characters in this chapter. Most of them were in earlier chapters but I know there many characters here. I'll try to use less characters in the chapters, it just very hard for me to decide who will say what and I chose it randomly without thinking.
'Quodpot Times' is supposed to be reference to the 'Quidditch Times' magazine, I assumed there is a similar one on Quodpot.
Look, I do think they learned about Hogwarts, Ilvermorny is base on the former school but like Queenie did in the movie they probably mocking the other school, but it does seem they knew about that before and not heard it. Besides, I just wanted to make them confuse with the Emerics and that was my only idea to do so.
