A/N, this is really my first Greenhouse fan fiction. I didn't really see many stories for this TV show and the ones I did see were mainly one shots so I decided to write a multi chapter story. Please comment, like and follow the story if you like it, or if you don't please tell me what I can improve on. Also disclaimer, I don't own Greenhouse Academy or any of the characters.

"Max." Everyone in the greenhouse turns to look at the girl walking in yelling for the biggest nerd there.

"Oh no," Max mutters ducking down lower in his booth across from Emma.

The girl catches Max doing this and saunters to where he's sitting, or laying, on the booth laughing. "Max, what are you doing? Hi, I'm Jessie."

Jessie holds her hand out to Emma who shakes it hesitantly. "I'm Emma."

"So are you his friend? Or something more?" Jessie questions playfully.

"We're just friends Jessie," Max mumbles, "She has a boyfriend. Can you please sit down, everyone is staring at you."

"I'm sure that's not true," Jessie claims, turning her head around. Sure enough nearly everyone in the room was looking at her oddly. So, she did as Max wished and sat down smiling.

Emma sits quietly for a second feeling as it gets awkward. "Jessie, what's your relation with Max?"

"Figures you've never talked about your trouble making sister, Maxxie. Although I've been hearing that there's been a bit of trouble surrounding this school," Jessie says, sending a wave of shock around the school. No one would've guessed that Max had a sister.

"Did you get expelled from another school?" Max grumbles.

Jessie laughs again. "No, I haven't had a reason to yet. But, it has been getting quite boring. I just came to visit. What's this boyfriend I heard about?"

"His name's Leaf," Max quickly informs her.

Jessie's eyebrows scrunch but straighten themselves out as she smiles. "He seems interesting."

"Yeah, he's great. A real hippie type," Emma says quietly. She looks down stirring her drink. Jessie looks back and forth between the two of them as an awkward silence ensues.

"Okay," Jessie says, clapping her hands together, "How's it been like here? I've heard that there's been a bit of trouble."

"You know, we push ourselves. Nothing too intense." Max stirs his straw around in his drink.

Jessie laughs gently nudging her brother. "I watch the news you know, but if you say you can handle it I believe you. Have you been keeping up with your chess playing?"

"Yes actually, I've been playing with Emma. She's great," Max says, smiling at her. Emma beams back, blinding Max.

"That's great Max, you know Emma. Our entire childhood Max loved chess and I tried to understand it but I never could. No matter how many times he tried to explain it to me. That just goes to show the smarter one here."

"She just couldn't sit down and focus, she was always wanting to go and do the next thing. She was good when she sat down for longer than thirty minutes," Max tells Emma.

"Patience was a virtue I did not possess," Jessie tells her.

Leo comes walking over to the table. "Hey Max, Emma, and Max's sister. None of us realized he had a sister."

Jessie just smiles looking down. "Figures, he's always been kind of ashamed of me. I'm a troublemaker. Constantly switching schools too. I think I finally settled down in the school I'm at now. It's out in the south of California, we got a three week break so I was visiting."

"You seem familiar, do I know you?" Leo asks.

"Well, I applied and was testing when you were playing that guitar riff. The bass is better though. I was accepted but ended up denying the offer," Jessie tells him.

"You got accepted here and choose not to go?" Daniel says pulling up his chair to the edge of the table pulling Hayley with him. This also shoves Leo into the booth across from Jessie.

Jessie nods looking shocked at the sudden surplus of people. "Um, no, I got a different offer from another school. I decided to go there instead so I didn't suffocate my brother with me being here."

"Well, Max has been amazing here," Leo tells her, "I'm Leo by the way."

"And I'm Hayley, that's Daniel."

Jessie nods. "Jessie. It's so nice to know that Max has friends here."

"Well, he's a Raven and we're Eagles so-"

"Of course he has friends here. We couldn't imagine Greenhouse without him," Hayley cuts off Daniel.

Jessie sighs in relief. "Great."

"So, how long are you staying?" Hayley asks.

Jessie shrugs, "I don't know, I actually need to talk to you in private. Is that okay?"

"Okay," Max says, pushing Jessie out of the booth. Jessie topples into Hayley but straightens out and walks to the outside. Jessie sits down on a rock a couple feet away.

"Max, I know we went to different schools for a reason but Greenhouse is about to host an enrollment. Or whatever this school calls it. I want to go here. My current school has bored me to death. I want to re apply and hopefully attend this school, doesn't seem like it'll be boring. But I want your approval to do so. If you don't want to, I won't," Jessie asks him nervously.

Max looks down. He loves his sister but this is the first school that he hasn't attended with her and also the first school his family hasn't been kicked out of. However, he couldn't tell his sister that he didn't want to be at the same school as her. So, he responds with, "Of course not, I would love to go to school with you."

"Great," Jessie exclaims beaming, "I swear I'll try not to step on your toes, I'll even apply to be an eagle so you don't have to deal with me as much."

Max shakes his head as his sister jumps forward to hug him tightly. "It's okay. I need to get back to the Raven clubhouse though."

"Right," Jessie squeaks happily, "I should get back to my hotel now too and get some rest."

Max drags himself back to the club house before collapsing on the coach. Emma sits next to him looking worried. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, my sister is going to apply here though, so I'll see her more," Max says.

"Is that a good thing?" Emma questions gently.

"Yeah, it's just, she's always been better than me."

Leo comes over to help comfort the boy. Being the captain it's part of his job. "I'm sure that's not true. You're crazy smart."

"Yeah but I'm awkward. She's… good with people. It's like she never even has to try when talking to them. They just all love her," Max tells them, burying his head in his arms.

"Don't worry, I'm sure everything will work out," Leo tells the boy, "Now let us all go to bed."

The next day Greenhouse academy is swarmed with people trying to get into the school. Max watches from the sideline as his sister messes around on her phone. Most the kids are studying with their parents, just like Max was studying with his sister when he was applying. Their parents have never been too present in their lives.

Max walks over to her with a textbook. "Do you want to study, Jessie?"

"Sure," Jessie tells him as they sit down on the rocks, "We only have a couple minutes before I have to go in though."

Max looks at the textbook and asks her a couple questions, Jessie answering everyone without a pause. "I think you're ready," He tells her.

"Thanks, and I think it's time I go in, wish me luck," She asks.

"You won't need it," Max reassures her, "I thought you didn't believe in luck."

She chuckles, "A little luck from someone's little brother won't hurt anyone."

"Okay, good luck," Max tells her as she walks away into the testing room.

"Don't worry dude, everything will work out," Leo says nudging Max as he walks with his guitar and amp.

Leo heads into that room where all the testers are sitting. He listens as the teacher explains the whole process to them while setting up his amp.

"Any questions?" The teacher asks.

Max's sister raises her hand with a glint of mischief. "Yeah, does your guitarist know that bass is so much better?"

"I will have to disagree with you on that," Leo replies smiling at her.

"Now that that is out of the way, please begin your test, your time starts now," The teacher says. Leo begins shredding away on the guitar as all the potential applicants begin the test.

The test wasn't too hard in Jessie's opinion, everyone was freaking out for no reason but I guess it was in most of their blood. As she turned in the test she turned to Leo and teased, "I still stand by my word that the bass is much better, classical or electric."

Leo just laughs, shaking his head.

"Head down to the gym for the rest of the eagle application," The teacher instructs her.

Leo remembers how Max called her crazy smart and makes him wonder why this crazy smart girl is going to be an eagle. He couldn't imagine anyone with Max's blood being athletic.

Jessie ended up flying through the Eagle tryouts, literally. Most of the girl eagles could only dream of doing some of the flips she was able to perform. After everything she decided to go find Max but it wasn't hard since he was waiting outside the gym for her.

"Get lost coming here?" She questions teasingly.

"No, we're required to do a gym class each week," Max mumbles, "How do you think you did?"

"Okay, I mean I advanced to the Eagle tryouts, I was already accepted once, let's see how I do," As the duo are walking away from the gym the coach comes out and stops them.

"You are accepted," The coach tells Jessie, causing her to beam, "How do you know string bean?"

"We're siblings," She tells him, causing the coach to immediately gasp.

"Wouldn't have guessed, Sophie here was going to show you around and help you settle into your room," The coach says when Sophie walks out of the gym.

"Great, talk to you later Max?" Jessie exclaims, pecking his cheek.

He nods and scurries away. Sophie steps forward and wraps her arm around Jessie's dragging her forward. "Let me introduce you to Hayley first, she's another girl in the Eagle's."

"I think I met her yesterday," Jessie tells her, "With a boy named Daniel?"

"That would be her, yeah that's right. They told us that they met you when you were visiting Max and Emma," Sophie tells her.

"Yeah, with a Raven boy too, Lark or something."

"Leo."

"That sounds right."

"Hayley," Sophie yells as they walk into the clubhouse, "This is our newest member, Jessie."

"Hey, great to see you again. I guess you're staying for a bit longer than planned," Hayley says.

"Yep, I decided I needed a change," Jessie claims.

"So, how is Max your brother?" Parker asks, jumping over the couch.

Jessie looks at him strangely and raises her eyebrows. "Do I really need to explain how siblings happen? I mean if you insist, after parents fall in love and finally get some time alone time they-"

"Okay that's enough," Sophie yells, cutting her off, "Parker, maybe you should rephrase your question."

"Well, it's just Max is so nonathletic, don't get me wrong, he's a great guy, and you got accepted into the Eagles and from what the girls told us you did some stunts that made them drool," Parker clears up.

"My brother has his strengths, he's super smart and spent all his time studying and playing chess. Don't get me wrong at first I was super nonathletic too but I started working out more and ended up really enjoying it. I got fit and Max just got really good at chess. But I love him," Jessie explains.

"Yeah, we probably would all be dead if it weren't for your brother, he's a great kid," Daniel tells her.

"That's great. So, what do people do here on a normal day?" Jessie says.

"Usually go to practice and classes. Do you want to get settled into your bed?" Sophie asks.

"Yeah, all my stuff is actually already here. Since I already got accepted I just put it in my car and drove here from the hotel," Jessie admits, "I wasn't too worried."

"Probably the only person here who wasn't. How many people walked out crying?" Parker asks.

Sophie hits him gently. "Be nice, it's tough to get accepted. Do you need help bringing in your stuff?"

"No, I only have a bag. My last school kept us travelling a lot so I don't really have a lot of stuff right now," Jessie tells them. I might need help finding my way back here. I've been in some confusing places but my sense of direction has never improved.

After the Eagles helped the new Eagle settle in, the only person who got accepted this year, into

their dorm, they went down to the cafeteria for dinner.

"What's recommended here?" Jessie asks as they stand in land and wait to get food.

"Everything," Daniel tells her with his arm around Hayley.

Jessie scoffs as she gets up to the counter. "May I have a chicken salad wrap and a bottle of water?"

The person behind the counter nods and gives her a plastic box with her order and bottled water.

"Thank you," She tells him, taking her food and walking to the booth where Sophie and Parker are sitting.

"Are they always acting like that?" Jessie questions.

"Like what?" Parker questions his mouth full of food.

Jessie looks at him with half amusement, half disgust. "Gross, like such a gooey couple because if so that's going to get real old real fast."

"You'll get used to it," Sophie reassures her.

"Explains why Leo didn't like them yesterday. I would get sick of it too," Jessie mumbles.

Parker lets out a loud bark. "There's a bit more than just that."

"What are we talking about?" Daniel asks slumping down in a chair.

Sophie kicks Parker under the table and quickly says, "Nothing. Just chatting."

Hayley nods knowing that Sophie is lying but doesn't say anything. "So, Jessie, what made you want to come back here?"

Jessie shrugs, "It wasn't working out at my old school."

Alex sits next to Daniel pulling up another chair. "What was wrong with it?"

"I just didn't click with the people. Normal stuff, plus, I was worried about Max, this was the first school he's been to without me and from what the news showed me, it wasn't completely safe. I'm just here to look out for him," She tells them.

"He's great, this school would be toast without him," Parker says.

"From what I heard," Jessie admits nodding as she takes a bite of her salad wrap.

Daniel groans looking at the door where the group of Raven's just walked in, "Look who's coming. The Ravens."

Jessie watches them carefully as they all get food and sit down. "Say," She starts, "That boy in Raven was playing the guitar, do you guys have a music room here?"

"Yeah, but honestly no one really knows where it is. Leo is probably the only one," Daniel says.

"No, I could show you where it is," Hayley offers.

Jessie smiles gently at her. "Not now, just, it's one of my ways to relax or get rid of my problems. I just wanted to know whether or not it would be an option here."

"Are you ready for practice tomorrow?" Sophie asks as the two couples at the table get involved in their own conversation.

Jessie nods again sipping the water. "Yeah, when is it?"

"Seven o'clock, then we have classes afterwards, or a challenge sometimes," Sophie tells her, "The girls are great, you'll fit right in."

"That's a relief, I've never been great with most jocks. They've always been mean to Max, but I don't think I have to worry about that," Jessie admits.

"You don't, this is a great school. Just, sometimes we have a bit too much free time," Sophie tells her.

Jessie gets up shuffling out through the maze of chairs from the two couples. She heads towards the trash can to throw away her trash. After that she heads to where Max is sitting and leans her head on his stealing a chip.

"Hey buddy," She mumbles.

"Hey Jessie, how are you settling in?" He asks her.

"I'm okay, I was wondering if you wanted to meet up tomorrow morning before classes."

Max shakes his head. "I don't really think so."

Jessie glances down sadly. "Okay, that's fine. I guess I'll just see you around then."

"Yeah," Max mumbles.

Jessie straightens up and nods at Emma who smiles and waves at her. Jessie gets back to where she was sitting. Hayley leans over and grasps her hand in reassurance. "It's okay, he's just getting used to you being here. I know how it feels, I'm an older sister too."

"It's a bit different," Jessie tells her but smiles at her, "Max was an awkward kid. Never really made friends but our parents made sure I knew how to do one thing, protect my younger brother. I had to keep other kids from being mean to him constantly and got into a few fights because of it. Got myself expelled and in turn him torn out of a school. He hates me. Now he's just waiting till I mess something up again here."

"I'm sure that's not true, he must know you were just trying to protect you," Hayley reassures her.

Jessie just shakes her head looking down. "He doesn't know why I would get in fights. It would break him if he heard some of the things those kids said. He can't ever know so I just have to deal with him hating me."

Over at the Raven's table, Emma is questioning Max, "Why did you not want to talk with her?"

"I just, she's ruined every school we've gone to," Max admits, "I know it sounds bad but this is the first school she didn't come to and the first one I didn't have to leave because she got expelled. Every single school she would get into a fight or spill chemicals on a kid, sometimes ones who I thought was her friend, then we would have to leave. I never really had friends at any of the schools but it was still hard. She has anger issues or just always wants to fight."

Leo reaches over and rubs that boy's back. "Well, you two don't have to be that close here, plus you've got friends. Also, with everything that's happened around here and what the students did it's probably impossible to be expelled. Don't worry, we have your back," Leo assures Max.

"So this Eagle versus Raven house thing is actually pretty serious?" Jessie asks as the Eagles tromp down the stairs to a challenge that Dr. Woods told them about.

"Yep," They all respond, "Louis, our old headmaster really wanted to deepen the divide between us too so he could encourage a competitive spirit. I think my mom will try to keep that up just maybe not to the intensity Louis did," Alex tells her with his arm around Brooke.

Brooke pushes him away annoyed. "My father was trying to help us the best he could."

"And that nearly got my brother and Sophie killed," Hayley snapped angrily at Brooke.

Jessie notices the tension and doesn't say anything. It could be cut with a knife. They get down the stairs and sit down in the group of chairs on the opposite side of the cafeteria from the Ravens.

Suzanne claps her hands from the front of the room clapping her hands together. "Okay, Ravens, Eagles, I'm glad to see you all here. In honor of us getting a new Eagle and Dr. Woods coming to Greenwood Academy we are having a challenge."

All the kids around whoop and cheer. "What do we get?" Parker hollers from the back.

"Bragging rights," Suzanne tells him cheerily, causing a bunch of groans from the students.

"So what are we doing?" Leo asks, rolling his eyes.

Suzanne smiles at him before continuing, "So, one member from each team will draw a category and the members on that team will have thirty seconds to list as many things in that category as possible. The team with the most answer at the end will win. Eagles first."

Hayley gets up and puts her hand in the bucket that Suzanne was holding out and the competition began.

"The eagles won," Suzanne announces at the end, causing every Raven to groan and the Eagles to cheer. Jessie rolls her eyes when Hayley and that girl Becca on the Ravens get into a squabble.

"Okay Ravens let's go," Leo announces getting up.

Jessie sighs murmuring, "Finally, if I had to sit here for another minute."

Everyone gets up with the Eagles chanting. Eagles. Eagles. Eagles. They didn't stop until they got into the clubhouse. Jessie started chanting with them having a bit of their excitement seeping into her but mostly she just wanted to shower and sleep. It's not that insane of a request.

Sophie comes over to where Jessie collapsed on the coach since some other girls claimed the first showers in the girl's locker room. "Hey girl, you didn't really participate in the challenge that much. What's up?"

"It wasn't the stuff I was good at. Science I can do, math great, history and music stuff not so much. Don't get me wrong I can enjoy good music but being able to name stuff on top of my head not so much. I just didn't want to say the wrong thing," Jessie tells her squirming.

Sophie looks at her concerned. "Next time say what you want. No one will get mad at you if you mess up."

"I would love to believe that but sadly I don't think I can. My parents, however absent they were in our life, I had to be perfect. Perfect smile, perfect personality, perfect brain. Max on the other hand, he was good at chess," Jessie tells her sadly, "Oh my gosh, I can't believe I told you that. I'm sorry, it's just. That's personal."

"It's fine, we're your family here. Also, if you ever need to open up to someone, everyone here will be happy to listen," Sophie reassures her.

Jessie nods. "You guys are all so nice. At my last school I didn't have to worry about anything getting back to Max so I was able to be an open book. I usually am, it's just that I don't like keeping secrets, the way I see anyone should be able to tell everyone anything, it's just that. I don't want my brother realizing how messed up our family was."

"I understand," Sophie tells her, "I promise my lips are sealed."

Jessie smiles widely. "Great, I guess that makes you my first official friend here. And because of that, I have this tradition, with each new official friend I make. They can ask me one question. Anything, and I'll answer it."

"That's an odd tradition. Why do you do that?" Sophie asks.

"Because it let's my friends know me. I guess it's just something I do so that I'm an open book. Why bother letting people in if they don't know me. Now ask a question," Jessie explains.

"Are we getting to play hot seat with the newbie?" Daniel asks swinging over a couch to sit down next to them.

"Are we friends?" Jessie asks, cocking her head to the side.

Daniel laughs hollering, "Friends, the greenhouse is family. So, hot seat?"

"I guess so," Jessie says, shrugging and laughing with them. She's always been good at making friends quickly, it was the difference between her and Max. She never fully opens up to them though, people just like thinking that because she's an open book and is always there for people makes them think she does. She also encourages them to. Jessie just doesn't lean on them the same way.

Daniel claps his hands together as some of the other Eagles come join in the game. "Favorite school subject?" Daniel starts.

"That's boring, barely even counts," Jessie protests, "But science."

"We're just getting started, you agreed to hot seat so now we get to ask you as many questions as we want," Alex teases her.

Jessie's eyebrows quickly scrunch up as she holds her hands up. "Wait, I agreed to one question each."

"Not now," Brooke says in a sing-song voice, "My turn. How many people have you dated?"

"Um, only two. Neither of them worked out," Jessie says.

Alex sits forward since it's his turn. "Since, Hayley and I are the only siblings here I think it's allowed for us to ask this. What type of relationship do you have with Max? Like you both hate and love each other or what?"

"I'll always love him and protect my little brother but sometimes kick dropping him into the sun isn't a bad idea in my mind," Jessie tells him, laughing.

Hayley leans forward fist bumping her, "Finally someone understands my pain of being an older sister."

"Sophie, what's your question since you were the first one to actually be offered to ask me a question," Jessie says.

"Do you think you're going to like it here?"

Jessie stays quiet for a little bit waiting. She looks around at everyone smiling at her and looking for her answer. Even though she's not with her brother and instead with a bunch of jocks because she didn't think he would want her here she can't help but say, "Yeah, I surprisingly think I will. You guys seem fun. Just promise not to disappoint me or be boring."

"Alright, we promise," Sophie says.

"My turn," Parker says, rubbing his hands together, "I don't know what to ask. Who is the person who thinks is the hottest at the Greenhouse?"

"Parker!" Nearly every person yells throwing pillows, or a foot rest courtesy of Daniel.

"Hey, it's a good question," Parker says.

Sophie nods. "He's got a point. It's not like she's saying she'll go and kiss him or anything."

Jessie blushes brightly. "Well, I've barely been here so I haven't really met everyone. So I think that's an unfair question."

"Come on," Parker begs showing doe eyes, "It's part of the game."

Jessie shrugs. "I guess that tall Raven boy who plays the guitar."

"A Raven?" Daniel asks, annoyed.

Hayley slaps Daniel's chest gesturing to herself. "You liked a Raven once too. I think it's cute."

Daniel pulls her over to him in a hug burying his head in her hair. "As long as you don't think he's cute."

"Not that I have you," Hayley tells him, kissing his head.

Jessie throws the pillow behind her at the two yelling, "Enough of that. Have some respect for the lonely ones here."

"Fine," Daniel groans, throwing his hands up.

Alex chuckles. "Thank you," He tells Jessie, "I've been having to watch him kiss my sister for weeks."

Sophie laughs pointing her finger at the two of them. "You with Brooke aren't much better."

Alex throws his hands up like Daniel did. "Alright, alright. Let's move on with the game," He says, annoyed to be called out.

Hayley sits up clapping. "My turn. Okay, this question must be perfect. So, what's the craziest thing- no that's too basic. We must figure out the most important question to ever figure out your personality."

"Okay, I'm kind of nervous," Jessie mumbles laughing.

"Chocolate or Vanilla?"

"Vanilla, of course," Jessie asks without even pausing.

Parker throws his hand forward. "Come on, that's boring. Basic."

Jessie puts her hands up in defense. "Don't judge me. People think Vanilla is boring but they don't realize that it is the easiest one to dress up. A little chocolate sauce or strawberries."

"I'm still a total chocolate fan," Hayley says leaning back, "But I respect your reason, mostly for the chocolate sauce." Everyone laughs and Jessie can feel herself falling into actually having a family here. It's rare to click with a group so fast, especially when they're already all friends and she's an outsider but here she did just that.

"Now that everyone has had their one question, I'm going to go shower since all the other girls are out," Jessie announces getting up.

Daniel gets up yelling, "Hold up, I want more than just one question."

"Too bad, and don't follow me in there," She hollers walking into the girl's locker room.

Hayley raises an eyebrow leaning back to the couch. "I dare you," She tells Daniel who quickly sits back down not wanting to test her.

"Okay, I'll get more questions after," Daniel says.

Jessie stops in the girls room to grab her bathroom stuff and put it in her locker before grabbing makeup remover and stuff for her hair. She walks up to the door and looks into the locker room to ensure that none of the girls followed her.

In the bathroom Jessie makes sure she is alone again before walking over to the sink with a mirror. Once there she lifts up the bottom of her shirt slightly and looks at her stomach and ribs. It's a scatter of purple and green. It stretches below her legging line and down her leg and above where she pulled her shirt up to check on the bruises. Jessie grabs a makeup remover and wipes it over her collar bone revealing an ugly green bruise stretching across it. Then she moves it up her neck showing hand marks wrapped around her neck. Up some more to her jawline and cheek revealing a bruise that looks like someone hit her. She makes sure she hopes in the shower after taking off the concealer to ensure none of the girls see. It would be mortifying if anyone realized exactly why she left her old school. They can't realize how weak she is. If she could hide it then, she can hide it now, only then she didn't have to share a bathroom with anyone. "At least it's healing. Looks like I'm working out in a tank top for a while though."

While in the shower Jessie stretches working through the pain. She's been able to act like everything is normal with her, Max will never be able to realize something is off since they're in different houses, that's half the reason she became an Eagle. But, Jessie knows girls and now that she's confirmed that they're friends, or at least will be, it's going to be harder to hide this from them. Girls are too good at figuring out what's wrong with other girls. Especially stuff like that.

"No one can know," Jessie mumbles to herself, "No one." Then the door opens and the other Eagles come in.
