Brightclaw237: It has been ages since the last time I published a fanfiction. Sadly it seems that the other fanfics of mine don't seem to be as popular, so they will be on hold for the time being. I have a lot of free time due to the events that are going on throughout the world, and I hope that all of you out there are safe. Anyways this fanfiction will take some ideas from the manga of Fossil Fighters but with my own twists and add-ons here and there. Brightclaw will of course be in the fanfiction, but she has an updated design. There will be a link to the newest form of Brightclaw on my deviantart for reference. Some characters might be OOC, and there will only be Brightclaw as the only angel-hound/wild-hound in this fanfiction. Another may show up later, but only a possibility. I only own the angel-hounds. Now on with the story.

A young boy around the age of ten hugs his parents goodbye before he boards a boat, a medium sized dog following behind him. The sound of the boat's engine starts, signaling the vessel's departure. As the boat speeds away, the boy waves back at his parents with a big smile on his face. Cupping his hands around his mouth, the boy shouts back to his parents. "I'll be the best fighter out there! Next time you see me, I'll be a master fossil fighter!"

"Good luck Hunter!" His mother cries out. Tears of joy and sadness shine in her eyes as she watches her child leave home to try and make his dreams a reality.

"You better keep my son out of trouble, Brightclaw!" The boy's father shouts. The animal's ears twitch at the voice, looking back at Hunter's father.

Fourteen hours ago at the Kaze residence…

"I'm counting on you to keep him safe. You're one of the reasons why we're allowing Hunter to even live on an island full of dinosaurs." Mr. Kaze says as he places a hand over the canine's shoulder.

A low rumble sounds in her throat. The canine looks down at her paws, her claws tapping the ground continuously out of a nervous habit. "You shouldn't doubt yourself like that. You've got a special gift, Brightclaw." Mr. Kaze smiles at the animal.

Brightclaw's eyes narrow and she shoves his hand from her shoulder with her paw. The canine turns away and growls under her breath. With her back facing the man she lets out several more barks and grunts, but they sound angry and hurt.

Mr. Kaze sighs and bends down to Brightclaw's level. "I know how much humans have hurt you." He says. "You don't want to trust any of us. My arm is proof enough of what happens when anyone gets too close to you." Mr. Kaze sighs, rolling his right sleeve up to reveal four small scars.

Brightclaw turns around and flinches at the sight of the scarred arm, her ears flatten against her head. "…rrrrrrrrgh…" The animal makes some grunts and snorts in an apologetic gesture with a flick of her ears.

"There's no need to apologize. You were just a child, just like Hunter. Even now you are still a child, you just need to keep that temper of yours in check." Mr. Kaze says. "Whatever you are Brightclaw, you are not a monster." He says. Brightclaw perks up at his words. "A monster wouldn't risk their life to save the life of another. If anything, you're a guardian angel." Mr. Kaze says with a knowing wink. The canine stumbles back in shock. You aren't very good at keeping secrets, but it might be for the best if you stay low. Try not to spread your wings too much, don't want rumors spreading on a place where you're going." He smiles.

Brightclaw gives a curt nod back to the man as the distance continues to grow between the dock and the boat. 'I'll do my best to keep him safe.'

Hunter stops waving as soon as his parents disappear from his view. He turns to face his furry friend with a big smile on his face. "Come on Brightclaw, we better get to our room for the night. We won't reach Vivosaur Island until tomorrow morning!" Hunter exclaims.

The two set off for their room on the boat. The crowd that had been on the main deck had left long ago to do so already. Hunter and Brightclaw reach their room and unpack for the night. After the two change into their sleepwear, Hunter wearing a tyrannosaurus rex one piece pajamas. Brightclaw wearing plain green t-shirt and pajama pants. Hunter being an easily excitable ten year old drones on and on about what dinosaurs they may see, all while his canine companion listens, looking up once and awhile from her portable gaming system. The sun had set long ago, and the two get ready to sleep. Brightclaw having fallen asleep with her game in her paws. Yet Hunter can't seem to fall asleep. His mind continues to race with thoughts of adventure, danger, and so much more. All he can do is stare at the ceiling, waiting for sleep to take him. Eventually the boy's eyes grow heavy with sleep as his adrenaline fades away. Hunter takes one last look at Brightclaw, a faint white glow emanating from her claws. 'I'll also help you get your memory back, Brightclaw…' Hunter's thoughts fade away as he finally falls asleep.

Brightclaw237: Now it is time to introduce the cast. Come on in guys!

Brightclaw jumps up onto a couch that appeared out of nowhere. Brightclaw: I don't care, but I am hungry.
