hey guys! I'm kinda new here, nice to meet y'all 3

so this is my attempt at writing something that ha been stuck in my head for awhile.

this is majorly an ObiRin story, where they are all around 19 (except Tenzou, he's 17), but there are other subplots as well. anyways, the story is pretty much thought up, but I've only written upto chapter 3 as of yet. The reviews you give will decide if this gets abandoned or not. Enjoy!

A knock on Kurenai's door interferes with her daily ritual of watering the flowers, and daydreaming about a certain Sarutobi. Curious as to who would visit her this late in the evening, she places the watering can on the window sill and makes her way towards her apartment's front door. Given that it's her day off, she has a reason to believe that she hasn't been summoned by lord Hokage.

Her mind runs through various possibilities. She wonders if it's Shizune, here to have a little chat and Not fangirl over Genma for once (Just ask him out for God's sake. He's too smitten to refuse). Probably it's Obito, or Tenzou, here to invite her to join the gang for outing. Or maybe it's Anko, claiming to have come up with yet another evidence that Izumo and Kotetsu are gay and in love.

"Whose there?" She loudly questions just as her hand reaches the knob.

"Ah ,argh, it's me." Comes the reply. Her motion immediately halts as Asuma Sarutobi's voice reaches her ear, and her heartbeat reaches a whole new level.

It's him, but why is he here?

Her mind races through possibilities, and particularly concludes on one: He's here to finally confess his love and ask her out on a romantic getaway. Why else would he bother her at this time on her day off?

Maybe because she's to lost in thought, this bizarre idea seems right. She gives an in audible squeal and clasps her hands, a slight blush forming on her face.

So naturally, the nineteen year old hastily checks herself in the mirror right along the main door and opens the door with a slight pucker of her lips. Then leaning against the door frame in a suave position, she bats her eyelashes and opens with a seductive "hellooooo"

What she wasn't expecting was for three of her other friends to be there as well, all of whom are giving her a questioning look.

There's an awkward silence that follows, and the only thing that breaks it is a single long 'oooooink' from the confused pig in Shizune's arm, nothing coming before or after that.

"...are you okay?" The Sarutobi finally asks after a long minute.

"Huh?"

Finally snapping out of her trance, Kurenai's wide eyes give a blink and she immediately stands in a normal position.

"Offcourse I am! Heh heh." Words can't describe how embarrassed she feels at the moment, tho how red her face is gives a pretty idea.

"Can we... come in?" He questions again, holding a really depressed looking Rin by her shoulders.

"Yeah yeah. Totally!" The red eyed woman chatters, stepping aside to let the trio and the pig enter her apartment.

"Ooookay." Is all Obito says as he gently pushes the Brunette inside, Shizune following while taking slight concerned glances at the Yuhi. Asuma is just perplexed by the venemous look he gets from her while he enters, even more so when she straight up kicks his leg and apologises with a sickeningly sweet "oops."

With a sigh, Kurenai shuts the door. Why did I think Asuma would be here with a proposal of all things? I have a better chance of finding a tap dancing Orangutan on my door. She shakes head in self pity.

Coming back in, she spectacles a worried Obito setting Rin down on her Sofa as Shizune walks to the kitchen, leaving Tonton free to run around. The last one is sitting on a different couch, picking up the newspaper and clearly extracting himself with whatever is to follow.

Getting closer, she finally sees how sad the Nohara really looks, eyes downcast, lips quivering, just on the verge of a breakdown.

"Please try to relax." The Uchiha softly tells his teammate. "I understand that you're devastated, but more crying won't solve anything."

Kurenai's brow furrows. "What happened Rin? Is something wrong?"

Meanwhile, Shizune renters the living room with a glass of water. After handing it to her best friend , she turns to face her. The look of sadness on her face further worries the genjutsu mistress.

"She tried confessing to Kakashi, and—" She trails off. She feels for Rin. They have been friends and Roommates for years now. Though not as desperately as Obito, she still hates watching her hurt herself like this.

Kurenai doesn't need to hear anymore. She is well aware as to how things must've gone after that point.

Without wasting a moment, she moves to sit next to the devastated girl, and affectionately rubs her back. She can feel hopelessness rising in her own self. To think that it happened again. Poor Rin.

Rin tightly clutches her skirt, a few drops of glycerin falling down by now. Obito can't help but kneel in front of her, silently pleading that she doesn't let that emotion overrule her.

"I'm so sorry Rin." The red eyed girl quitely says. "You need to understand that he just— doesn't feel that way for you."

Unfortunately, the words intended in good nature by a well wisher happen to be the last straw.

With a single sniffle, the brunette medic moves her hands from her thighs to her face, covering it as she commences wailing audibly, tears running down on her palms and through the gap in her fingers.

Suddenly Kurenai wishes to stab herself for ever bringing that up. Boy, am I terrible at consolidating.

Frantically crying, the girl tries explaining her condition to her friend in between sobs.

"H—he said th-that he can n-never love me back."

Her cries amplify by the time she reaches the end of that sentence. The pain she must be feeling, Kurenai doesn't even wish to imagine it.

Unable to bear it anymore, Obito envelopes his teammate into a hug, a lump forming in his throat as well. His own self is threatening close to spilling some tears for her. "Please don't cry, Rin." He begs. On the inside, his anger is boiling, all of it directed towards a certain Hatake.

"Said that, h-he loves, someone else. That the p-person i-is the only one."

Kurenai didn't even think it was possible to be so upset over a heartbreak, given that she has never experienced one herself, but here's Rin, choking on her sobs and wailing at a magnitude that makes sure that everyone on this floor and below can hear her. Though that isn't exactly what caught her ears.

Kakashi? Our Kakashi? In love with someone? You're telling me that HE has the capability to fall in love?

However, given the current circumstances, Kurenai is forced into stopping her train of thoughts for now. Her dear friend is deeply hurt, and she feels for her, but there's hardly anything she can do about this on her own. She needs the rest of them to be able to provide any true aid.

Taking a cold sigh, she gets up and makes a beeline for her handset.

Ten minutes pass before another knock on Kurenai's door forces her to leave her now barely quite friend and answer it. Opening it reveals the rest of their close friends, all except for the man responsible for the whole drama.

Genma, standing in the very front, looks past Kurenai and spots the other three. Letting out a troubled sigh, he questions,

"Kakashi again?"

The Yuhi nods her head sorrowfully and asks everyone in.

The moment she had gotten the call, Anko had made sure to ring up everyone save Kakashi and demanded their presence. Not that they needed any persuading anyways.

So now here they are, bringing themselves and anything else they know might help. Anko with Rin's favorite Ice cream, Gai with his beloved teddy bear, and Tenzou with a bunch of movies he knows she enjoys, tho Genma throws them out of the window in annoyance once he sees that all of them are some sort of a Romantic movie focusing on true love and all. An injured cat is heard screeching seconds later, and the long haired brunet guiltily winces.

After about thirty minutes, they finally get the brunette to calm down. Now she sits quitely, sniffling a bit and eating the extra sweet strawberry ice cream, well, more like being force fed by Anko and Obito. Once she settles, she tells them everything that she had already told the Yuhi and the other three, tho she gives no account as of what led to that topic being brought up between herself and Kakashi.

Offcourse, this isn't the first time Rin has had that conversation with Kakashi, tho it could be the last given that there was this other person he has admitted to have feelings for. It surprises his teammates. To think that that scarecrow of a guy is capable of having such emotions.

Even through her mostly incomprehensible account, it is clear to all of them save one that Kakashi isn't wrong here. That he's just as guilty of not loving Rin as she is of not loving Obito.

After further coaxing, Genma believes that it's time to hit her with the cold hard truth, no matter how much he doesn't want to.

"I understand your condition Rin, and as angry as I am at him right now, I doubt that Kakashi is at that much fault here." He softly states.

Rin remains calm, eyes still downcast.

The Uchiha gives him a heated glare, wondering how can he possibly even think about defending the Hatake right now. But to everyone else who isn't desperately in love with the victim here, this reason seems legit.

Infact, Asuma takes this as a cue as he proceeds to defend the absent nin as well.

"I believe Genma isn't wrong. Kakashi may have been unnecessarily harsh here, and he deserves contempt for that, but I don't think not reciprocating your feelings because someone else is there makes him guilty."

"Are you guys out of your damn minds?! Can't you see how badly affected she is?!" Obito suddenly roars, clenching his fists in sheer anger. Watching her cry is hard enough, and for them to defend the guy responsible for it? Some friends they are. "That jerk did it to her! Can you not defend him when he's clearly at fault here?!"

The growl has the desired affect and everyone goes quite; not because the rant has any affect on their thinking, but simply because they know how dangerous Obito becomes when it comes to Rin. The fact that he is taking a stand against his own best friend and roommate is enough to vouch for that. Just because she never reciprocated his feelings doesn't mean that he ever stopped loving her.

After a few moments of silence, however Rin finally mumbles something that mildly startles everyone, especially Obito.

"He wasn't a jerk about it." She whispers, her arms holding the icecream bucket, still almost full to the brim.

Obito's eyes widen slightly, and he kneels in front of her yet again. "What was that?"

"He wasn't harsh with me at all." She somewhat raises her voice this time. "He was as nice As he could've been, letting me down as easily as he could. He said that he was really sorry and that I deserve much better. He even told me that he would've given us a chance if it wasn't for that other person." Her voice gets heavy yet again, but she controls the urge to cry. Then her bleary eyes looks up at Obito and everyone else. "They're right Obito. Kakashi isn't at fault here. I am."

His gaze softens. "Rin... It isn't your fault."

"He's right." Anko joins. "Nobody is at fault here. Don't be harsh on yourself."

"I can't!" Rin almost screams. "It hurts. Really bad." Had her tears not already dried up, she would've definitely cried by now.

"I know. It must." The purple haired girl nods, certain amount of sadness lacing her voice. "But the only thing you can do as if right now is atleast try to not think about him."

The Uchiha turns his head "How do you suppose she does that?"

"Well for starters." Tenzou says. "She'll need to get out of this convention we're holding with him being the main focus."

"And I think that some of us need to talk to him to get into the situation better." Shizune supplies from behind while dialling the Hatake's number on the handset.

As she silently has a conversation with him in the background, the rest try to get Rin to agree to go somewhere. Moments later the black haired girl puts the receiver down and meets the eager, hopeful gaze of everyone else in the room.

"He says that he'll be here in about five minutes."

Silence reigns, mostly because no one knows how to react with the news of him and Rin being in the same room just hours after what happened. "But he says that Rin doesn't need to hear about it, so it's better that we take her out somewhere to relax her mind."

"See? We told you." Obito tries smiling at the saddened girl. "Now get up and get ready to—"

"Obito? He says that he specifically needs to talk to you."

"Me?" He questions, not quite sure if he heard that right. Why does he want to talk with him instead of Rin?

Shizune nods. "He says he'll be needing You, Genma, Asuma, Tenzou and Anko here. So it's us who she'll be going with."

Gai jumps up enthusiastically. "Alright then. What are we waiting for?" He holds his fist in front of himself. "Let us go out and turn Rin's frown upside down." Everyone save the mentioned girl sweatdrops.

I can totally see why he doesn't want you here. Tenzou mentally notes.

Kurenai gets up "Alright then. I better go change."
