Poseidon POV
I was bored. Visiting the mortal world and having some fun didn't appeal to me anymore. This left me in a slight dilemma. I could always go sink some ships for fun, or go and flood a country, but my other siblings will be pissed at me, and Atlantis really didn't need a war with all the other issues. Kronos is rising, no doubt about that, but Lord Thunderpants refuses to believe anything other than seeing the Crooked One himself. Eventually, I decided to go to Athena to see if she could help alleviate boredom. Even getting yelled at was better than sitting in your palace, rotting away.
Athena's palace was a mixture of the Acropolis, her proudest work, and a giant library. It didn't operate like a library, though. No one other than Athena herself was allowed to touch, or even breathe on the books. She would yell at you for even glancing at a book for longer than a specified time (I think it was 1 second).
As usual, she was standing over a desk and drawing something, while also muttering. Something about stupid goats. I'm not sure what goat offended her, maybe a satyr walked in here and looked at a book on fur care.
I leaned over her shoulder to look at what she was drawing. It was a boat, based loosely off the Argo. I scanned over the boat and realized 2 things. Firstly, it wasn't a boat. It was a submarine. Secondly, its hull is 2 centimeters too thin. Now, you may be wondering: wasn't I an idiot? The answer is no. I may not be the smartest god, but I'm one of the elder gods, and that has to count for something. Plus, boats are part of my domain. I tapped her on the shoulder and said, "The boat's hull is 2 centimeters too thin."
She whirled around, summoning her spear and Aegis in the process, but visibly got flustered when she saw me. I found that strange but tucked it away.
"Poseidon! What are you doing here?" she asked, but she seemed more embarrassed, not angry like she usually sounds. Something is definitely off about her. I then noticed she's cute when she's embarrassed.
"Er - Hi?" I asked, somewhat confused, "Sorry for barging in, but I got bored, and wondered whether I could borrow some books." My voice dropped to a whisper as she looked at me first skeptically, then confused. Then she broke into a smile and launched herself at me. I instinctively ducked, but she wasn't trying to attack me, she was - wait. She's hugging me? She stepped away, slightly embarrassed looking.
"Poseidonwouldyougoonadatewithme?" Athena asked, staring at the ground.
"I - what?"
She looked rather crestfallen, and I walked over to her and hugged her. She looked at me hopefully, and I kissed her. She wasn't a good kisser, but her lips tasted good, like strawberry. She asked again, slightly calmer, "Would you go on a date with me?"
I nodded and flashed us to a Chinese food place on 39th street, and we ordered some steaming hot noodles. After, we flashed to Athena's palace and had a nice night.
A/N: I'm sorry if this seems rushed (it sure seems to me like it's rushed), but I had this idea in my head and needed to write it down.
I'm not good at writing romance, or anything else, but I try. This is my first fanfic, so it's probably not going to be that good, but hey, at least it's something.
