Chapter 10: Samal's Revenge

Samal sat cross legged in front of Linassa in the police chief's of the station in Kaadara. He'd been allowed to leave the prison now to join her for training so as to no longer feel like a prisoner. Though it was in all but name. The Pureblood Sith Master had spent the last couple hours in the late hours of last night having him memorize the Code of the Sith.

"Recite the Sith Code."

Samal did so.

"Peace is a Lie

There is only Passion

Through Passion I gain Strength

Through Strength I gain Power

Through Power I gain Victory

Through Victory My Chains Are Broken."

Samal spoke the words and opened his eyes, revealing a pair of yellow orbs that had replaced his regular blue ones. But the change only lasted a second before they returned to normal.

"Good, you are making progress. You've touched the dark side. I can feel your anger… your desire to destroy that which you blame your mother's suffering. Well, I have someone you should meet."

She beckoned with her hand. The doors to the room opened and the Cyborg Sith Malor entered the room holding a prisoner. Over his shoulder Malor carried a vibrosword. Samal saw the black handle and recognized it as his own. Seeing his weapon in the possession of the fiend who had murdered Master Brano caused him to seethe in anger.

"Give me my sword!" Samal hissed.

"I was just going to," Malor said, smirking.

He removed the MEI Avenger Vibrosword from his back. Samal immediately saw that something had changed. The blue light up function of the blade in the middle had been replaced with a red one.

"I think you'll learn to like it," Malor said. "That blue part of the blade made you looking wretchedly similar to a Jedi. This will be a fitting Sith weapon. Take it."

The Cyborg made the sword levitate in midair above his hand. Samal had a feeling he knew what to do. He reached out with his left hand, focusing. He willed the blade to come to him… and it did. Blade first! Samal screamed and dove out of the way of his own flying sword that shot at him like a spear. As he looked back he thought… hoped that Linassa would have been pierced by it. But that was too much to hope for. The sword clattered to the floor mere inches from where Samal had stood seconds before, feet away from Linassa.

The Pureblood Sith Lady looked at Samal, who knew what was coming.

Lightning crackled from her fingertips and hit Samal who screamed. This had been a common occurrence over the last few days of his training. Whenever he got tired, resisted, or failed too many times in a task she would zap him or one of his family members that were present. But fortunately for them Linassa had released them. She'd said it was too ensure his loyalty, and as long as he behaved they would be free.

"I granted your family freedom as a gesture of good will and you repay me with an attempted assassination?" she asked.

"I didn't!"Samal said truthfully.

"Yes, I know. But you still failed!"

She hit him with another bolt of lightning. This time she maintained the attack, not on a fatal level but enough to keep him in pain. The sound of his screaming filled the room. Then he glared at her and let out a roar of determination, bringing his hand up against the incoming lightning. Suddenly Samal was no longer being hit with it, instead it seemed to be hitting his hand harmlessly as though his hand had an invisible shield around it. Pure surprise showed on Linassa's face, she hadn't expected this! He was using tutaminas, energy absorption! All Force Wielders could do it, but it was a rare thing to use to a great extent. Of course this was a pretty basic level of the technique, able to fend off her lightning at its lowest level. Still, she hadn't ever taught it to him. He'd simply gathered force energy into his palm and was using it repel the lightning.

She considered adding more power to her attack, but instead ceased the lightning. Samal took a few deep breaths looking at her. She smiled.

"Pick up your sword!"

The boy snorted but did as he was bid. He walked up to where his sword had landed and picked it up. She then pointed to the man Malor had brought in.

"This man is a prominent drinker in one of the cantinas here in the city. We found him in prison, he's been in and out, gotten into his share of bar fights over the years."

Samal looked at the prisoner, the man's eyes were wide with terror.

"Please!" he begged.

Samal frowned. The rage he felt at the thought of alcohol burning up inside him. The substance that had caused his biological mother to suffer so much… the mother he never knew and had only heard things of from his adoptive parents. Everyone who drank it… it was like they were asking for death or to hurt someone.

"Kill him!"

Samal wanted to do it. This man

Once he gets his first taste of vengeance on people, it will bring him into the dark side. Linassa thought.

Suddenly there was a beeping at her computer. The Sith Lady sighed and walked over to it. She pressed a few buttons and the hooded figure of Darth Ferocus appeared.

"Lord Linassa! Our scanners in the Bothawui system have picked up a large republic fleet heading your way! Your time on that world is up! Gather whatever resources you have managed to procure and leave the planet!"

"At once my Lord! I will bring the boy to you."

"Good, a force sensitive is even harder to find than enough metal to build a fleet of warships."

Linassa turned off the holo and looked back at Samal and the others in her very temporarily owned office.

"Now where were we? Ah yes. Kill him! Then we'll leave!"

Samal looked down at the man.

"Please! I have a family! They're waiting for me to return from prison. I swear I'll never get into another bar fight or even drink again!"

Samal felt a wave of disgust creep over him at the cowardly begging. But at the same time he knew it was wrong. He wanted to

"Those weak enough to beg for mercy are too weak to deserve it. The weak are crushed by the strong. You have a strength greater than most Samal. Use it to get what you really want," Malor said, taking a step closer to Samal.

Samal stood there for only a couple seconds. But it felt like an eternity. His desires weighing in his mind. He felt an intense wave of hatred for alcohol and even those that drank it. But as he looked at this begging man, even through his disgust at the groveling, he thought of the man's family. They would be saddened by his death, just as Samal had been saddened when he heard the story of his biological mother. He'd thought that if one day he met her, he could have saved her from her addiction. But the odds of that ever happening were low. It was a wide galaxy out there and she knew how to disappear from it. If Samal did this then he would be like her, or even worse. And that was not what he wanted. He wanted to make her a better person. He couldn't do that if he were to become worse.

His eyes went from the prisoner to Malor, who stood there casually. Samal's anger flared again as he recalled Master Brano being sliced in two at the Cyborg's hands, and he knew what he had to do.

Roaring, Samal unleashed all the fury that had been inside him. His war cry rung off the walls. The prisoner crouched in fright, Malor shook, his overconfident smirk faltering. Then Samal struck. His modified Vibrosword's blade coming at the Cyborg's head, which was mostly flesh. A moment ago he might have blocked the blow on his mechanical arms, but Samal's scream had shaken him. Before he could recover, part of the Cyborg's head was cut off at the top. Blood appeared on the already red middle of the blade. The mostly mechanical body fell to the side and hit with a thump.

"No!" Linassa shouted.

Samal couldn't help himself from smiling. His Echani Master was now avenged. But his victory was short lived as Linassa screamed in fury at the loss of her apprentice. Samal turned around as she raised both hands and shot a pair of bolts at him. He raised his free hand, trying to repeat what he'd done before with blocking it. He succeeded for a moment… unfortunately… the prisoner was not so lucky. Not having the force he had no way to protect himself from the deadly bolt which turned him into a charred husk instantly. Samal struggled to keep this lightning at bay, it was much stronger than the earlier one. Then Linassa moved both her hands to attack him and it overwhelmed his feeble force shield. Samal collapsed, only surviving thanks to his force sensitivity.

Linassa snarled, looking over at Malor's body. The cyborg should not have gotten so close. He'd always preferred physical confrontations, now he'd fallen from the force scream of a novice Sith acolyte. Linassa cursed as she looked at Samal who'd been knocked unconscious.

"You'd better be worth this boy!" she shouted.

So I killed Malor. It might have been a bit easy, but I used the same technique that Palpatine used in his first duel against Jedi in the Senate. Force Scream, which breaks concentration or something like that. It took Malor by suprise and he didn't have the time to recover and react. Anyway, still hoping for more reviews as its been a while. I'll take anything almost at this point. Except jerkish reviews. So please share your thoughts on this chapter or the story so far.
