Chapter 13 Leaving

Samal sat in his room going over the events of the past few days. It felt like a bunch of bricks had come crashing down on his world. His martial arts master was dead, along with hundreds of soldiers some civilians across Naboo. The peaceful world that he often remembered being joyful and happy now seemed gloomy. During the next two days that would take place before the funerals that would occur for those that died in the brief Sith occupation.

In the back of his mind, he still saw Malor, as well as the man who'd been brought in. That man had been innocent, but Samal had still had the urge to kill him for drinking alcohol. He hadn't of course but it chilled him now to think he'd actually considered doing it. As for Malor, he felt an odd mixture of pleasure but also… a sad feeling. Regret?

Why should I regret killing a Sith? He's the one who murdered Master Brano! Samal thought. He is a monster and he deserved to die for what he did. But somehow, Samal felt as though he'd done something wrong by killing the cyborg Sith apprentice.

Samal grunted, trying to push it away. He'd just killed his master's killer. What could be wrong about that? He'd fight and kill other Sith as well… someday. Master Ogan had said he would train him to be a Jedi after the funeral which was tonight.

The dead of Kaadara were gathered in various parts of the city. When it was the afternoon, Samal rode with his family to the police station. Now cleared out of Sith it would serve as a place for the funeral of the soldiers here while the civilian casualties were given funerals elsewhere.

A police officer that had a captains uniform on lead the funeral. Samal guessed he was Pakano's replacement. Among the crowd were several familiar faces that Samal knew from the Echani Academy. His fellow students, all of whom wore forlorn expressions as they saw the bodies. They even shed a few tears. Samal's younger sister Elana did, as did Samal as well. He'd looked up to his master. It was thanks to Brano that he'd grown strong, the Echani had taught him for eight years. He'd installed in Samal the values of honor, bravery, and skill in battle. If not for his training, Samal wouldn't have survived his recent battles if not for the training.

"We've lost many soldiers and police who bravely fought to defend this planet. Now the Sith are gone. With help from the Republic and Jedi Master Ralon Ogan, we've driven from this world," the new captain said.

Samal frowned. It was true the Sith had left, but they hadn't intended to stay on this planet. Just take what resources they could and then leave. Was he trying to boost morale? Ah well… it didn't matter.

"Captain Pakano, as well as the Echani Master Brano, you both fought bravely against Sith Lord. We will see that you both are remembered now," the captain said.

"Hey! What about us?" asked Yusano from his seat next to Samal. "Me and Samal both fought those Sith with them! Samal even killed one!"

"Oh… well you are brave young boys as well," the captain said. "If you wish to join the police force I would certainly consider letting you."

Samal remained silent. He might have liked to be a policemen as well as an artist. But now he was going to the Jedi. Wasn't much to complain about, except for never being able to marry. If he stayed with them that was. Would they allow him to leave if he wanted once the war was over? Who knew how long it would last? By that time, a lot could change. He thought of Allia, his crush. Now that he was leaving they wouldn't have the chance to ever really get together. Samal sighed.

They left the funeral once it was over and Samal went home to back his bags. Their house hadn't suffered any major damage thanks to being farther away from the city. The Comorus Eagle had landed nearby to allow Samal onboard. He gathered his MEI Avenger vibrosword (which he'd returned back to its original state of having a blue center) a few spare set of clothes. He didn't have his old blaster anymore, as it had been lost the night of the attack. Though Samal preferred melee weaponry, as they were the true weapons of skill like Brano said, he'd be a fool to discard the uses of a ranged weapon.

He put the clothes in a suitcase then put his vibrosword in his belt. He then walked out of his house to where the Eagle was. He saw his family waiting with Master Ogan, Alia and Yusano. Samal stopped. This was it. He was going, and after he left, he wouldn't be able to contact his family again once he joined the order. Master Ogan had said this during the days he'd come to stay in the Dicar house. Samal couldn't understand it but he had to follow the rules.

His adoptive father Don was crying a bit, while his mother Lisa looked like she was holding it in. As for Elana, being siblings they had a share of squabbles over the years. Alia looked sad.

"I'm gonna miss you Samal," Don said as he walked forward and embraced his son.

"Me too," Lisa said as she joined their hug.

Samal hugged both his adoptive parents and looked at his sister. "You're probably glad I'm leaving huh?"

"Yeah, mostly," she said. "But I think I'll miss you a bit."

Samal sniggered. "Come here!"

She smirked and hugged her brother with the rest of their family. Lisa then turned to Master Ogan.

"Please take care of my son Ralon," she asked her old Jedi friend.

"I'll… do my best." Ralon promised after a brief hesitation.

The Jedi Master thought of Jaster. His padawan was now dead, as was his other former padawan that had ascended to the rank of knight years ago. He'd failed both students. Could he succeed this time? Or maybe he should had the boy over to another Jedi Master?

Samal walked up to the dark haired Jedi then turned to his friends.

"Well, goodbye Alia, Yusano."

"Goodbye Samal. I wish we could have spent more time together," Alia said.

"Me too," Samal agreed.

"Hey Samal, I plan on joining the republic army to fight against the Sith. So maybe I'll see you out there," Yusano said. "Also, thanks for avenging my father."

Samal nodded. "You're welcome. Good luck. I hope we do meet someday."

Ralon listened to the conversations with a soft smile. He knew there was no such thing as luck being a Jedi. If these boys ever did cross paths again, it would be the will of the force.

Taking one last look at his family and friends, Samal climbed onto the ship. The docking ramp closed and the ship started its engines. It rose off the hangar bay floor and out the door. It was off into the sky, climbing up the atmosphere until it finally left the planet and emerged into space. Coordinates were punched in, and the ion engines lit up. The Eagle then vanished into the dark voice of distant space as it jumped into Hyperspace. Off to Coruscant it was.

Sadistra knelt before Darth Ferocus in the throne room on his personal Sith Warship, the most powerful in all the fleet.

"Your Master has not come back, young Sith. I have felt it in the force. She is dead,"

"Yes my Lord. I felt it as well. She and my fellow Apprentice are dead," Sadistra said.

"And with her passing, you are without the chance to kill her in order to one prove you are stronger," "Therefore you must kill the one who killed her. Based on reports that I've intercepted from the Republic broadcasts, it would seem the Jedi Weapon Master Ralon Ogan is the one."

Sadistra felt a shiver run down her spine. "A weapon master? But that's impossi-

Her words were cut off as her airpipe suddenly contracted and she choked.

"Impossible you say? Do you believe yourself incapable of surpassing your master?"

"N-no! Its just a… a lot to take!" Sadistra said through her.

"Then you will need to train harder than ever!"

"Yes my Lord!" she said.

"Well… in any case your master managed to get some valuable resources from Naboo, we can build at least a few ships and make a few million credits. But make sure you do not lose your resolve young one!"

"I will not. The dark side is with me!" Sadistra vowed. "I will kill Ralon Ogan!"

"He is returning to Coruscant, likely with the boy you found on that pitiful planet. He has likely been taken to join the Jedi now."

"Then he will have to suffer the same fate as all Jedi," Sadistra said. "He could have been a Sith and used his power for what it is to be used for."

Lady Drakana walked out of the room. She thought of the boy… Samal Dicar as she looked out into space thinking of him.

"Could it really be?"

Well, finally back. Now that Team Hot Air is done and a New Year has begun I'm gonna be working on some more stories. I've come up with a new plan. I'll be rotating stories every week. I'll do two over the weekend and switch it up every now and then. Currently I have three, this one, a Naruto x Sakura fanfic, and a Pokemon one. Might do a second Naruto fanfic as well.

Now for the story, I'm on my way to join the Jedi. But what is with the Sith Lady who is relieved I escaped? What is our connection? Guess. Review. Fave, Follow. I could really use some reviews on this fanfic. That can give pointers to improve, this is my first self insert fanfic and the characters are all original. Though now that I've returned I feel like I'm kind of lacking traits for them. Could be wrong though and it might just be the latest chapter. I might have an image selected soon as well, I've gotten my Samal Dicar character made in Kotor 2 so I might just take a picture of him once I get his lightsaber and use that.
