Life without Lucifer wasn't ideal for Chloe, but she had to move forward with her life. No one ever said she had to be happy with it. It has been six months since Lucifer said his goodbye to Chloe on his balcony. The tears ran dry once the sun rose and she knew that she had to put on a brave front for Trixie. The last thing she wanted was to make a scene and have everyone thinking she was a charity case. So she put on her mask and went about her days.

Six Months. Six months and all she could possibly do was desk-work. She didn't have the energy or spark to go out and solve murders anymore. She tried in the beginning. She had managed to dive right back into her job, but months without her partner here just was the same. She tried to play both roles but it caused her to be reckless. A few run ins with murders forced her to take a step back. Dan had begged her to slow down so she did what she had to do. She rather be subjected to desk work then be forced to stop working. After some time, it slowly started to mesh together.

Her heart wasn't in it anymore. Filing paperwork for the Homicide Department was becoming her new norm and she just felt like a hollow husk of a person she once was. Solving murders couldn't fill the void Lucifer left behind. So there she was, sitting at her desk like any other day this past few months just filing reports. Chloe had become an empty shell of the person she once was, she believed she could mask her pain, but everyone around her knew she was miserable without Lucifer. Trixie and Dan have tried everything to get her to cheer up, but nothing ever really made her smile anymore.

On rare nights, Maze would find her at Lux up in the penthouse. Chloe would either be crying on the bed or shrouded in Lucifer's expensive dress shirt. Maze never bothered her, she understood how much it hurt to be left behind by the man. The only thing she could do for poor Chloe was leave her be and hope Lucifer would find solace in knowing Chloe was still hanging on to him.

Today was like any other day for Chloe, she got up, took a hot shower, and let the tears run down her face. It was better to get the crying out early, it helped avoid puffy eyes. Once she was done she'd dress in her detective clothes Lucifer hated so much and start off her day with a cup of coffee. She'd go through the motions of her regular route until she'd make her way over to the police station to start her day.

She'd say her Hello's and good mornings to keep up the appearance until she'd sit down at her desk. Once her ass hit the chair the world around her no longer existed. Her pain subsided and she let the Detective take the wheel. Sometimes you'd see her so deep in thought one would think no one was home.

That's how Michael found her today. Staring into space so deep in her mind that you'd think someone broke her. Michael had been keeping a close eye on Chloe. Ever since Remiel had returned with a report on their new nephew, he had made it his mission to check in on his brother's life on Earth. He'd been keeping tabs on Chloe ever since she'd prayed for someone to help Lucifer out. The situation was out of his hands, his brother had made up his decision. Michael wasn't heartless though, he knew how much Chloe meant to him. So being a good brother he'd check in on her from time to time. Whether it'd be a blanket over her body to keep her warm in the night, or a bullet kept from killing her. Michael made sure to keep Chloe safe for his brother, but today… today broke his heart.

She'd hadn't shed a tear in quiet some time. Today must have been an important day to her because she broke down in the shower and again in the car. My how his Father's miracle had fallen so hard for the Devil. He wondered if his brother knew the extent of Chloe's love for him.

In his month of spying, he'd never shown himself to Chloe. He'd always stayed invisible and kept to the shadows. That was until today, again today. Today he changed out of his robes and into street clothes. Today he felt it was the day to run over his plan to return his brother to her. The problem was, he looked identical to his brother. He didn't want her to be confused, so he made himself look different. He let his natural curls hang loose, he even let his beard grow out longer than his brother's. He switched out his robes for black jeans and a green long sleeve shirt. Obviously, he still looked like his brother, but it gave the notion something was different. He couldn't walk into the precinct in a three piece suit, it would draw too much attention. He needed to look like a regular person. He was sure this would allow him some time before anyone recognized him.

The bullpen was raving with cops and criminals. As Michael made his way into the room, he made sure to avoid anyone who knew his brother. It was harder than he thought, every corner he turned someone tried to talk to him. He had managed to find Chloe in all his sneaking around, the poor thing was spaced out simply staring at the computer. Michael stood at an officer's desk pretending to look through files. As his eyes studied Chloe, he could see what his brother saw in her. He understood how his brother could fall for this woman, she was beautiful. He must have been staring for too long because he seemed to attract some uni's in his time.

"Lucifer? Lucifer is that you! It is you. Where have you been? Aw, it's so nice to see you. It's been a while. Say, would you uh… mind giving me a hand with these boxes? I'm afraid I'm about ready to drop them" an older man dressed in his police outfit said. Michael sprang to action and grabbed ahold of the boxes with one hand. The officer looked at Michael shocked.

"Where are we off to…" Michael looked at the officer name tag, "Higgs." The officer smiled and motioned for Michael to follow him.

"This way lad. What's up with the look? Run out of clean suits?" the officer chuckled and patted Michael on the shoulder.

"I… uh… Had a rough night. I had to make due." Michael lifted the box to cover his face as he walked deeper in the bullpen. That's the last thing he needed. He didn't need anyone catching him before he could talk to Chloe.

"It's just around the corner son," Higgs ushered Michael into the evidence room once they got there. "Thank you so much, I don't know why they make me lift all these heavy boxes. I'm too old for this." He waved his hand around and pointed at where he wanted the box. Michael sat it down on the table and went to excuse himself but Higgs slammed the door, leaving Michael by himself.

"Well that was rude" Michael said. He turned around and smacked right into a small Latina woman. As her head looked upon her attacker, her eyes widened. So much for staying in the shadow. The jig was up, he could see it in her face.

"No flippin way! You're back! Oh how I missed you!" she started off with a hug and dropped her arms. She landed a blow on his bicep and went back to hugging him. The hugs alone by this woman could render any Angel useless. No wonder his sister liked her. "Diggin the outfit buddy! Like really diggin the whole chest hair no hair product vibe" she held him at arms distance and checked him out.

"I uh… thanks?" Somehow this woman made God's strongest Angel nervous. Michael shot his arm up to touch his hair.

"Dude! Like where have you been?" a punch was administered to his arm.

"I've uh… Look, you need to keep it down" she was too loud, she was drawing attention. He looked over the small Latina's form and saw Chloe looking around searching for his voice. The woman in front of him caught on because she immediately followed his eyes and saw Chloe rise up and search for the voice that symbolized Lucifers.

"Lucifer?" she was frantically looking for him. He mentally cursed this tiny woman and started to move away from her. Chole stopped dead when she saw him, her eyes were already glossing over with tears. She picked up her pace and sped over to them.

"Chloe please I have to…" he was interrupted by her form engulfing him with a crushing hug. Her tears ran wild as she trembled. Michael held her as she filled him with love. He didn't know why his heart was beating so fast, maybe it was because he'd have to crush her heart in a few moments. Deep down he knew it was because no one had ever hugged him with much love as she just did. Her love was toxic. One couldn't help but bask in it and stay there forever, but he couldn't do that. He pried her arms off of him and grabbed her hand. Michael dragged her into a room and closed the door. Ella smiled as her imagination ran wild.

"Have fun Chlo!"

"I can't believe… how? When did you?..." her questioning stopped when she saw his face. Michael had the saddest look upon his face. He was ringing out his fingers with nervousness. His pacing stopped when he found his words.

"I'm not Sam, I'm his twin brother Michael. I uh… I apologize for the misunderstanding," he tried to grab her hand to calm her, but instead she stepped back and covered her mouth to hold back the tears. "Oh please… quiet Dearie. I'm sorry," he stepped towards her and wrapped his arms around her. She didn't pull away and instead leaned into his body. Just for a moment she allowed herself to believe this man was Lucifer. The man who sacrificed his love for the good of mankind. The Devil. A being of desire so powerful that he was brought down to his knees by a woman who could love the Devil.

"I don't understand. I…" she pulled herself back to address the man. Michael dropped his arms and looked at Chloe.

"I wanted to have someone call into a room so I could talk to you first. I didn't mean for you to find out like this. My name is Michael…" Chloe reached out her hand and touched Michael's face.

"You look so much like him" her finger ran along his beard. "I know you said you were his twin but… God, I've never seen twins look so alike" a nervous chuckle escaped Chloe's lips. Michael pulled her hand away, he wasn't used to the touch of a Human. She looked at him as if she did something wrong.

"I'm sorry" he stepped back and gave them some room.

"No no don't be. It's just shocking, I'm sorry" she shook her head and wrapped her arms around her body. "What brings you here Michael?"

"Loaded question if I was to be honest. I uh… well I guess you could say some divine intervention was needed." She tilted her head in confusion. "I've been keeping an eye on you… todays been a hard day has it not?" she dropped her arms and looked away.

"That's none of your business" her tone turned cold.

"It's not but it became my business when you asked for help."

"I didn't ask for help," she barked out. Michael clasped his hands behind his back and stood tall. She was trying to get him to go away, but he knew she needed someone.

"Six months ago to the date" he cleared his throat and read out her prayer. "Please, anyone, God, anyone. Please he's done his service, just please let him have this. I love him… I love him." Michael pulled his arms back to his front and smiled at Chloe. "All of my Father's prayers get filled through me first. Especially one from you Chloe."

"Then why has it taken you so long to show up" she wiped away the tears that fell onto her cheeks. He shrugged his shoulders.

"Time… resources… My brother and I didn't really end on good terms. I have been watching over you. Like really… running after shooters without a vest. Drinking countless amounts of alcohol, only to almost kill yourself with alcohol posioning. I think I've logged in more hours watching over you than I have Johnny Cash."

"I don't need anyone to watch out for me, I'm a big girl." She pushed Michael out of the way and tried to leave the room, but Michael stopped her.

"Hey. You may be an adult but you sure as Hell haven't been acting responsibly. You have a child and friends that love you. It's not your time to part this world. If you're trying to reach my brother this way, you are sorely mistaken. Even if you wanted to go to Hell, my brother would move Heaven and Hell to keep you here. So believe me when I say, you are not okay."

Chloe just stared at him with the tears running down her face. He was the first person to actually call her out on her shit. It hit deeper knowing it was coming from someone that looked like Lucifer. Michael offered her a chair and had her sit down. She listened and took a seat.

"Why did you come here? Did Lucifer send you?"

''No… He doesn't know I'm here, and don't think he'd appreciate me here to be honest. I believe he'd throw me out the window for even stepping into the same building as you" He took a seat from her.

"Then why are you here?"

"You sent a prayer, and I felt empathetic" his hand stretched onto the table and played with the chipped wood. "Six months… six tiredsome months and I've finally come to tell you your prayer has been answered." Chloe sat straight in her seat, she couldn't believe what Michael was saying.

"What?"

"Well" he fell back into his seat and looked at her. "It's still a work in progress, but I think I can get it off the ground.

"Work in progress? Are you going to bring Lucifer back?" Chloe sat up tall with excitement. She really couldn't believe what Micael was saying.

"Like I said it's a work in progress, but yes. There are parties that need to be debriefed on the whole plan but yes. It's a work in progress… I've done my persuasion in Heaven. The rest is up to Sam." Michael gave a frown at his loss of words. He exhaled and looked her dead in the eye. She had a small smile on her face that hadn't seen the light of day since Lucifer sent Dromos and all the other demons back to Hell.

Why was he ready to please her, he owed her nothing. In his heart, he knew it was something he should do. Lucifer deserved happiness, he didn't deserve to rot in Hell and he stripped of his soulmate Father made him. He would help, that's why he was standing in front of Chloe right now. He was ready to help, he was done playing daddy perfect soldier. It was time to side with his brother and help out. After all brothers do anything for one another, right?
