PROLOGUE: The Universal archive

The gargantuan wooden doors of the archive creak open as a ghostly figure adorned with a blue cloak glides through the opening the door. The figures head covered by his hood and the cloak drapes down the rest of his body as if he didn't have one at all.

Ulysses

Guardian of the universal library

As he glides across the bridge leading to his study, the sound of an explosion rung out through the enclosed area of space, shaking the stars as the sound of the blast raced towards the outer edges of the universe. Ulysses looked upwards to see that the universal pocket in which the library lied had been broken into by a creature comprised entirely of green fire. The creature flew right into the roof of the universal library, breaking it in the process.

"Oh dear lord!" said Ulysses. "He's back!".

Ulysses' cloak opened up and his hand reached out, holding the books he was carrying out of his cloak and teleported them to the study. He rushed towards the open study doors and flew past multiple bookshelves before spotting something rushing towards him.

The Watcher

Your everyday normal roach construct

The watcher was flying towards Ulysses with an intent to kill, with a couple of wardens trailing behind it.

"Rghimnsaer ilsm avjha yhi rha!" shouted the watcher, the wraps shaking on it's face from the cry.

"The Watcher! But it's meant to be dead! Which means that it's escaped the forgotten zone" said Ulysses, opening his palms and forming a diamond, summoning blue energy blasts, and firing them at the watcher. The Watcher dodged the blasts and put up an ice wall, sending its accompanying wardens to attack their foe. Ulysses summoned another fireball and shot it at one of the wardens, damaging it. He then picked it up using magic and shot it towards the other warden, damaging them both severely.

He levitated both wardens and shot them towards The Watcher, breaking the large ice wall. The Watcher stood up and switched its magic to blight. It fired beam after beam at the caretaker, but Ulysses kept redirecting the blasts back at the watcher, who manipulated the sand within one of the books, covering the floor with sand. Suddenly, a portal with green fire appeared below the construct and it fell in.

"Oh dear. So you've just now decided to show yourself Selvar? I thought you were trapped in the forgotten zone. Did someone get the genius idea to break you out?" said Ulysses, as the fire infused creature opened a portal behind him.

Selvar

Fire consumed scourge of the universe

What stepped through the portal was a being who body was made up entirely of fire. A body which was distinctly human yet crafted from head to toe in blistering heat and bright green fiery terror.

"What a failure. " said Selvar. "I'm going to need better lackeys".

"Answer my question Selvar. Who busted you out of the forgotten zone" said Ulysses, getting madder by the second. Before he could say anything else Ulysses was wrapped up with chains of vicious, bright green fire. The caretaker could feel himself being drained of his power, slowly weakening and losing consciousness

"Maybe I should recruit some demons? No, once they're dead they don't get sent to the forgotten zone. Stuck in limbo forever. I'll have to find a way there at some point" pondered Selvar, walking right past Ulysses as if he weren't there.

Ulysses was starting to get mad. "Do I not exist to you anymore you has-been. Answer me or I'll unleash my full power! I don't want to do this again" he explained. His wrists hurt the more the chains tightened around his wrists.

"Oh you're still here? Oh that's right! I've got so much stuff to do that I can't keep track of it all. It's been happening a lot more recently" said Selvar, pushing Ulysses to his limit. "Anyways, off you go. I hate laying eyes on you".

Selvar's hand lit up even more then before with the fires of rage as he slammed his fist into the ground, creating a portal from beneath Ulysses and erasing his chains so that he fell through the portal. All Ulysses could do was watch as the fire demon carelessly walked away to resume his task while he fell through the portal, losing consciousness.

And with this the cross wars had begun.
