Ofcourse the sky was raining, it's Seattle. The day has been slow, only three calls throughout shift. It was an uneventful day for the fine people at Station 19 of the Seattle Fire department. Maya had managed to catch Andy as she exited her bunk and followed her to the stairs, as a bag held in her hand.

"After shift." Maya stopped Andy in her tracks.

"After shift?" Andy asked completely clueless as to what she meant by the two word phrase.

"I miss my bestfriend. Let's go out for drinks... after shift" She said and they continued to walk down the stairs.

Just as Andy was about to respond, the sight of Vic holding a male infant stole her attention. Victoria looked as if the child was going to bite, holding the child away from her body. "Hi, Andy. Love the ponytail. Bishop, love your... belt. Does anybody want a baby?" She asked trying to offer the child away.

The two suspiciously walked down the main staircase slowly. "Oh, did we get a..."

"Safe surrender, keep walking or we'll be stuck on baby duty." Maya said and they both parted ways on either side of the stairs. "Go, go, go."

"M-Maya!...Come on, Herrera. You're good at this." Vic yelled as Andy shook her head running away.

The team was scattered all over the station, everyone was everywhere as the day was full of mostly chores. Cleaning, stocking, rinse and repeat. As Andy speed walked in the beanery not really paying attention to her surrounding, she bumped into someone.

"Opp, so-" She started then looked up. "Chief, what brings you by?" She asked taking a step back.

"Just checking in with the Captain. Is everything okay? You seem to be in a rush."

"Yeah, no. I'm fine." She replied. "Is he in his office?"

The blonde hair and blue eyed man eyed her and she gave him a smile. "Gym."

Andy nodded and made her way into the workout room. Her eyes furrowed as she saw Warren walk out holding his rib, heading towards the opposite direction. "Ben." She said out of concern and he turned around. "What happened to you?"

"Got punched... by our boss." He said sitting up straighter and her confusion grew deeper. "We were sparring. He's in there." He pointed and walked away.

She walked through the door of the gym and seen her captain undoing the velcro of his boxing gloves. Sweat ran down his head as he was turned the other direction. "Captain Sullivan." She voiced and he looked back.

He look at her as he waited for her to speak. "Lieutenant...Can I help you?" He asked closing his bottle of water looking at her standing in the frame. She held up the reusable supermarket that had his names on it. He chuckled a bit and walked over to her. "Yours is in my office, that's my fault."

She waited as he got close enough her so she could give it to him. "I feel like you're doing it on purpose at this point." She said tapping her lips for him to peck them. He leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on her lips and took the bag from her.

"Now that I think about it, you left home before me this morning." He said motioning his hand for her to walk out as he followed her. "It's technically your fault."

She rolled her eyes with a curl to her lips as he unlocked his office door and she followed him in. The bag that had her name embroidered on the front sat on his desk. She left the door open as she walked to pick it up, but before she could he grabbed it.

"Mmm not so fast, Herrera. I think I'm owed an apology." He grabbed her arm and sat in his desk bringing her down with him. "You know, the accusations you made, they hurt my feelings." He held his hand to his heart.

Andy playfully rolled her eyes and moved her arm behind his head while holding his face with the other and his arm around his waist. She laughed at the frown on his face and gave in to his shenanigans.

"Well, I'd hate to have left you with hurt feelings. Is there any possible way I can make it up to you?" She asked stroking his cheek.

Robert's lips puckered immediately with the frown still in full affect. Her head flew back in laughter before bringing it back. She placed a kiss on his lips and pulled back.

She heard him suck his teeth. "That's all I get?" He asked and she gave him a look. "One more. I haven't seen you all day." She gave in once again and placed another kiss on his lips only this time he grabbed her face and deepened the kiss. Just as he was about to go a step further, they heard someone call out.

"Herrera! Someone's here for you!" Miller yelled.

She stood up but not before Robert stole another kiss from her. She left and went out into the main area. Her curiosity ceased when she seen the person that waited for her. "Aurora?" She said walking over to the girl. The girl turned around from talking to Victoria who still held the child and her eyes lit up like an eight year old on Christmas Day. "Hey, baby!" She exclaimed holding out her arms.

"Hi, ma!" She said going into her mother's arms. "I went home first, but no one was there."

Andy hadn't seen her daughter in a few days do to basketball state finals out if town. The squeezing never let up at all as she hugged the girl that stood an inch higher than her. "What are you doing back so early?" She asked.

"Andy, you are going to kill her. She can't breath." Miller said and Andy immediately let go not realizing how tight she was embracing her. Aurora's face was red and she was laughing. "Sorry." Andy laughed. "I've just missed you." She then checked the device that was clipped onto her waist band.

"I can see that. I'm fine." She laughed more. "Where's dadd-"

"I'm a little hurt that you called for you mother and not me." She was interrupted by a voice coming in. She turned around immediately knowing the voice and shrieked running over to her father.

"Dad!"

"What's up Princess." He said slightly lifting her feet from the ground and placing her back down. He too checked the device that was placed on her waistband causing the girl's eyes to roll, he then stood back up. "Tell me we won!" He said closing his eyes.

"Well..." She trailed off sadly. "State Champs, baby!" She yelled and laughed and he fueled her a by giving her a high five.

Andy sat back and watched the two loves of her life scream about her game win. She couldn't help but smile at the sight in front of her. She loved that they had the bond that they did, even if she did envy it a small bit.

"Are you jealous?" Miller whispered watching them also.

"Yes." She pouted and laughed, walking over to them. "As much as I love to see you two yell at each other over basketball, I get enough of it at home. So... please." She said holding Aurora's face.

She opened her mouth to say something, but was quickly shut up by a big loud bang causing Aurora to quickly jump behind her parents.

Sullivan looked at Andy before she nodded and Aurora looked terrified out of her mind, her breathing increasing. "Rory, my office now!"He yelled and she didn't move immediately. She looked to Andy and she kissed her forehead.

"We'll be in there as soon as we're done." She reassured her fourteen year-old daughter. She hesitantly nodded and went away and so did they, but in the direction of the barn. Robert ran to grab a fire extinguisher and Andy went the way everyone else did. An R.V. badly and definitely uninvitedly parked into the barn. There was a small fire underneath the hood. Everyone stopped to look at the mess before them before their captain came running in. "What the hell." She abruptly stopped.

"Run a hose, let's go. MOVE!" He ordered and everyone scattered.

"Check the driver!" They heard come from up stairs and didn't bother looking up.

"Herrera!" He yelled. "Get me a head to toe." She nodded. "And be careful!" He yelled.

Andy calmly opened the side door to the aid car and grabbed the aid bag. She asked if whoever was occupying the driver's seat was okay, but the age of the individual who stepped out explained a lot. The girl stumbled out and immediately apologized for the damage she caused. Andy's heart skipped a beat as the girl looked to be around Aurora's age.

The team had learned that there was another patient in the vehicle, but Andy's responsibility was the child in front of her.

"What's your name?" She asked her as she guided her to the back of the aid car. She took a seat and Andy tried to get her attention off of her ill mother. "Hey, hey. Look at me, they are going to take care of her, but I need to take care of you. What's your name?"

"E-Ellie." She said through streaming tears.

"Okay, well Ellie, My name is Andy." Andy grabbed the blood pressure monitor and wrapped the cuff around her arm. "I need you to stay calm for me okay?" As she finished her check up she noticed her arm had a diabetic wristlet on it. "You have type 1 diabetes?"

"I'm fine... I have an automatic insulin pump. It's fine. The kids at school laugh at it sometimes."

"I'm not laughing, just checking." She said pressing a few buttons on the familiar device. "My daughter is about your age." Andy paused."Her name is Aurora and she also has diabetes." She confessed.

Ellie looked down at Andy who was still finishing her check up. "Really?" She asked.

"Really." She looked up at her "Do you play any sports?" She started the conversation to distract her.

Ellie nodded as she occasionally looked to see about her mother. I used to run track, soccer, and I used to manage the volleyball team. Now I just play soccer. It became too much." Andy nodded understanding. "Does your daughter?"

"She does actually." She grabbed a wrap from the bag. "Basketball, she just got from state finals." She said as she wrapped the small laceration on her forearm and noticed the girl had braces. "Can you smile for me? I just want to make sure your wire didn't cut your gums."

She gave her a wide smile, letting her inspect for anything bleeding. "You're all good." Andy looked over to the EMTs to see if Ellie's mother had been stabilized.

"Herrera, bring her. She's stable, they're going to Gr-" Chief Ripley stopped as the mother started to seize yet again.

Ellie quickly got up and tried to run over to her, but Andy held her back. She yelled and screamed trying to convince her to let her be with her, but Andy couldn't allow it. She just held onto the teenager.

"Look. You see that conference room up there?" She asked but Ellie never took her eyes off of the scene. "Ellie, look." After fifteen seconds she had managed to pry her eyes from them and now to where Andy's finger was pointing. "We can go up there and if they need us, we'll be able to see."

Robert was working with Warren, Bishop, and Hughes to hold the patient down as they continued to stop the seizing.

"Captain, when did Rory get here?Maya asked as she glanced at the door and focused back on the patient.

"A little before the crash." He said handing Warren a syringe. "Why?"

"Daddy." Robert heard and looked over to the right at Aurora who had tears streaming down her face. Aurora? Crying? A sight he hasn't seen in years. His hands were still working to help stabilize the patient, but his focus was obviously on his daughter.

"Chief!" He yelled and Ripley came running to take his place.

"Go go, I got it." He yelled taking off his turnout coat. Robert immediately took off his gloves and went over to her.

"Rory..." He put his arms around her shoulder and guided her out of the barn. "You shouldn't be out here." He led her to his office and sat on the couch embracing her tightly. "What's wrong. Why are you crying?"

His daughter wasn't the one to cry. It's always been like that. She could try and keep everyone else in the dark, but her parents could read her like a book and had her all figured out since the day they brought her home. Her illness was a sign of weakness to her, she felt like everyone thought of her as the weakest link, so she refused shed a tear outside of her home, rarely even in her home. It was a ridiculous thought, her parents talked with her countless of times to reassure her that she is in fact the strongest person they know. They tell her that their opinion is valid because they work with some of the bravest people in the world. She tells them that their opinion is invalid because they are her parents. It's a recurring debate.

"I don't know." She sobbed into his shirt. "I can't stop."

He pulled her in more and kissed her forehead. It was shock. She had never been in a situation like this before. The sudden noise, the fire, none of it. "You're in shock. It's okay."

"Make it stop." She begged wiping her tears.

He slightly chuckled. "Out of luck, kiddo. Mama has all of that power." He heard her giggle through the tears. He continued to comfort her as tears and cries eventually slowed down.

A sudden sound of the door opening came and they both looked to it. It was a mother who was worried about her child. She hurried over to her and moved her hair out of her face.

"Lucas told me you were crying." She said. "Are you okay?"

"I'm okay." She assured her. Being the mom she was, Andy didn't really want to let up off of her so easily, but she knew how she could get. "I'm fine, mother." She said playfully. Andy and Robert stayed and comforted her a bit more until they were needed. They couldn't wait to get home and relax.

"HERRERA, SULLIVAN!" They heard and they both stood up straight.

"Go upstairs, there is a girl in there. Can you keep her company?"

"Ma!" She groaned.

"Thank you. Now go." Robert had already gone to see what they needed and now Andy was now leaving.

Aurora lightly knocked on the glass door seeing Ellie standing by the window looking down at the paramedics.

"They're eight minutes out! Keep her stable for eight more minutes." Ellie heard the tall bald man say down in the barn.

Ellie looked at the door and smiled telling her it was okay for her to join.

"Hi." Aurora greeted her. "I'm Aurora."

Aurora walked over to her and stood by.

"You're Andy's daughter?" Ellie asked taking her eyes away from her main focus.

Rory nodded and glanced at Ellie. "That's my dad. The tall bald one." She said and Ellie giggled.

Aurora noticed the monitor on her waistband, but decided to ignore it not wanting to make her uncomfortable. "My dad's gone..." She said quietly.

Aurora's words were caught in her throat, she had managed to steer away from an awkward conversation just to drive straight into another one.

"Oh- I'm sorry." She apologized rather quickly.

"O- No, wait. He's not dead." She quickly debunked that theory. "My mom and dad are just getting a divorce." Aurora let out a sigh of relief as the words left her mouth. It wasn't too noticeable because that's not ideal either.

"I'm sorry about that also." She sympathized

"Don't be." Her gaze went back to her mother who was finally stabilized. Ellie finally got a good look at Robert, Andy, and Aurora and she wanted to ask something without being rude. "You look different than I thought you would." She said and regretted it. "I'm sorry, that came out wrong. You are so pret-"

Aurora giggled. "No- It's fine. It's an often question I get." She glanced at her then back at her parents. "I am adopted." She told her.

Ellie just nodded and and pursed her lips. "I'm sorry. That's none of my business."

Aurora put her hand on the girls shoulder and smiled at her. "I swear, It's okay. I love my parents and I know they'd move mountains for me. I'm not embarrassed about it." She watched as they quickly worked to get the lady onto the ambulance before she unstabilized. She adored their love and their love for her. She liked to think that she scored big in the parent department, no one could change her mind about such a thing.

"If you don't mind me asking... how old were you?" Elli asked.

"I don't mind, people get curious..." She said tucking her hair behind her ear. "I was three."

"When did they tell you?" She asked hoping she wasn't pushing it.

"Seven or eight." She said looking up trying to think. "I'm pretty sure."

Ellie nodded finding it cool. She noticed Andy motioning for her to come down and she looked at Aurora. "It was nice meeting you, Aurora." She said leaving the door after Aurora returned it.

She took one last glance down in the barn and thought to herself.

"I definitely scored big."
