Shinichi is walking way back to his mansion. He's living alone and now today is his 49th birthday. Shinichi is going to meet Shiho and he decided to celebrate his birthday with his partner. He went to his room and take a look on his closet. He picked a nice and comfortable suit. He changed and now staring at his reflection on the mirror in front of him. He brushed his hair and making sure he looks good. He wanted to impressed her. After so many years, (30 to be exact) that he have been apart to her. He's finally going to see her. He sprayed his favourite perfume and take a deep breathe. He get his bag on the table. He's now ready to go and started to walk, he liked to walk instead of driving his car. He enjoyed the wind and seeing the happy street while walking. He stopped at a flower shop to buy a flower bouquet for her. Afterwards he continue walking.

30 years ago...

The black organization was defeated and Shinichi and Shiho finally went back to their original body. It's evening and it's getting late now. everyone in the mansion are leaving including Shinichi's girlfriend Ran. Shinichi is all alone now and he's sitting on the sofa in the living room then he heard a knocks in the main door. He stand up and walk towards in the main door. He opened the door and see Shiho is standing in front of him, she's wearing a yellow dress and she's also wearing a make up. she's smiling at him and walk inside the mansion.

"You're late Haibara." He said.

Shiho laughs.

"Why? Are you waiting for me?" She asked.

"Ofcourse not."

"I went here all the way from work You should be thankful idiot."

He laughs. They went inside the house and headed to the living room. Shiho sit down on the couch while Shinichi sit down across her.

"Happy birthday Kudo kun. Sorry I don't have a present for you." She said.

"It's ok Haibara atleast you personally greet me." He said.

"Can you make me a coffee?" She requested.

"You can make your own coffee in my kitchen you know."

"But I'm your guest. Is that how you treat your guest?" She smirked.

Shinichi gives her an annoyed look but he stand up and went to his kitchen to make her coffee. Minutes after making coffees for the two of them he went back in the living room, he carefully place the mugs on the table. He went back to his position.

"How's your party?" She asked.

She takes her cup of coffee and sip it.

"Hmm... I'm not really a fan of party, I rather spent my birthday alone with Ran." He said.

She looks at him.

"Then why didn't asked her to stay here with you after the party?" She asked.

"Well because her Dad asked her to go home with her." He chuckled.

"I understand uncle Kogoro. He's really a protective Dad." He smiled.

"Haibara tell me... do you think Ran will be happy if I take her at the Eiffel Tower for our anniversary?" He happily asked.

"Why did you need to know my opinion?" She curiously asked.

"Well you are my only girl bestfriend that I can ask so..." he awkwardly smiled.

"If I were her. Doesn't really matter where you take me. As long as you're here by my side I'm happy." She said.

Shinichi see how she genuinely said that. How her eyes meant everything she said. But he looks away and get the remote control to open the television. Shiho see how he react so she shut her mouth for a while until she can't take the silent anymore.

"Kudo kun..." she calls out.

He suddenly looks at her when he heard her voice calling him.

"What is it Haibara?" He asked.

"I wanna tell you something important." She smiled.

She stand up and sit next to him.

"Can you promise me you'll never get mad at me?"

Shinichi looks confused.

"What is it Haibara?" He asked worriedly.

'Is there something wrong?' He asked himself.

"Promise first."

"I don't want to promise anything unless you'll say it." He said.

"You're too stubborn." She said.

"Tell me now."

Shiho looks deeply in his eyes. She takes a deep breath and she looks nervous.

"Honestly Nevermind. It's not important anyway." She smiled.

"Please Haibara. Tell me if something is bothering you?" He asked.

Shiho smiled.

"You have to promise first you'll never get mad at me."

Shinichi sighed. He didn't want to promise but he wants to know what Shiho wanted to say.

"Ok promise." Said Shinichi.

Shiho smiled widely.

"Kudo kun... it's not easy to say this but here am I sitting next to you. Staring in your eyes and finally admitting that I love you..." she said.

He was stunned and he didn't know what to say. She looks at him and then He laughs.

"You're just joking right Haibara?" He asked.

She slowly shake her head side to side and smiled at him.

"I've been keeping this as a secret because I know I never stood a chance. I know even If I try I will just fail."

"I've been thinking about if I will confessed to you or not but my heart tells me to say those words while My mind is forcing me not to say those because it's useless and pathetic." She giggled.

He keeps staring at her and he still look stunned. She lean in and was about to kiss him but then Shinichi stopped her.

"This is so wrong Haibara. You know that I have a girlfriend and I really love her. I'm so sorry."

She close her eyes and tears are streaming down her face.

"I know... but I wanted to kiss you. Even this is wrong I want to feel your lips. I want you to be my first and last kiss. I won't tell Ran about it. Please Kudo kun... please grant my request." Shiho said.

But Shinichi move away and stand up.

"I'm sorry Haibara b-but I can't cheat to my girlfriend. I love her." He said.

Shiho opened her eyes. Pain is visible in her eyes and he can see and felt that. He feel guilty because he didn't wanted to hurt Shiho but he didn't wanted to hurt his girlfriend either. He didn't want to be unfair to his girlfriend and didn't want to give Shiho a false hope. Shiho wiped her tears away and then stand up.

"I'm so sorry Ku-kudo kun. I shouldn't Expressed my feelings." She walked away towards the main door and leave his House.

Ever since Shiho confessed to him, he never see her or hear a news about her. He continue living his life but it's never the same. Shiho is always the one on his side when he's solving a cases. They're partners and when she's gone he missed her, He tries to find her and he never stopped. Ran broke up with Him because she see how Shinichi changed over the years, he's not the same Shinichi she felt inlove with anymore. Shinichi is obviously sad about their break up but he just focus searching for Shiho. He asked Professor Agasa if he knows her whereabouts but Professor told him that he didn't know. He even contact Masumi because she's her cousin but they didn't know where she's at.

He feels empty. He lost his bestfriend.

'I hurt her feelings that night...' his thoughts.

Rejecting girls isn't new to Shinichi. He rejected alot of girls in highschool because he always think he belongs to Ran. He never feel bad or guilty rejecting them because he believed that he's being honest.

He never imagine life without Shiho. They become really close and she's the one he trust the most. But when she confessed that night, everything changed. She distance herself and he lost her.

Shinichi always think of her, he can't denied it. He knows she's his bestfriend and it's normal to missed her but he felt something unusual. He can't explain it but he wanted to see her. He wanted to put his arms around her and never let her go. Then one day he finally realized that he loves her.

Shinichi arrived. He's standing while staring in her grave. Her name was written on it and her picture is on the side. He sit down on the grass and put the flower he brought for her.

"Haibara..." he said.

He keeps quiet and staring at her photo.

"I'm not happy seeing your grave idiot." He said.

"Haibara... i missed you. It's been so long since the last time I saw you. If only I knew it would be our last meet then I should've kissed you that night. I'm so sorry." He sadly said.

"It's real you will realized that you love someone when they're gone." He added.

Tears streaming down his face.

"Haibara I'm sorry It's too late when I realized that I love you."

A close friend of Shiho see Him at the mall last week and she chatted Shinichi. She's working with Shiho few years ago in a company that's how they met she told him. She even told him when she met Shiho, Shiho doesn't like talking to anyone but then she gets a chance to know her well. She's a nice and caring person then one day Shiho asked her a hypothetical question. what will you do if you love a guy and you only have months left on earth but the guy you're inlove with in a relationship already, will you confessed your feeling even you know he can't returned it or just keep it forever, she answered saying she will confessed even she knows already nothing will happen, besides she believes that you only live once so do something that will make your heart better, confessing yourself to someone you love will ease the heavy weight in your heart than to keep it forever. She asked Shiho why did she asked that question and Shiho answered her She's inlove with Kudo Shinichi but he already have a girlfriend then she added she's joking only. After a month she moved to another country and she lost contact to Shiho, when she's went back in Japan she finds out Shiho is dead already.

Shinichi wipes his tears away.

"We always have a wrong timing Shiho." He said.

This is the first time he calls her by her first name.

"When you love me... I can't love you because I'm with someone else but when I already realized that i love you I can't have you because it's too late."

He sighed.

"I wish I can see you again..." he whispered and close his eyes.
