A/N: First time writing fanfiction or anything other than school essays, so go easy on me.
A/N 2: New Authors note at the end and fixed some grammar stuff. Thanks!
Chapter One: Prologue
I was lying In bed after my fourth birthday party thinking about all the events that led up to where I was now.
Looking back on the past four years of my new life was refreshing.
I had inexplicably died in my sleep a few days after Christmas, which sucks pretty hard, but what can you do.
I awoke in a dark void and eventually squeezed out of my new mother's body. Be thankful you don't remember being birthed because it was a literal nightmare. Being crushed on all sides and being exposed to air on your skin for the first time was very unpleasant. It felt like needles were being pushed into every nerve at once before I passed out.
At first, I was bewildered. My eyesight was very blurry, and I didn't have the strength to move my head all that much, so I couldn't observe my surroundings. I could hear pretty well, but all the people around me seemed to be speaking Japanese, which I couldn't exactly understand.
I had concluded that I had been reincarnated. I'd had enough time for introspection to understand that I was probably in some baby's body. The only thing that I could really say for certain was that my parents were Japanese. I couldn't really tell where I had been reborn because my eyesight wasn't developed yet so I couldn't determine if I had been reborn into a modern Japanese family living somewhere in the world, an ancient Japanese family living in one of those periods that Japanese history is classified by or even a fantasy world like some fanfiction.
Bored out of my mind I tried meditating to find my inner energy or magic to no avail. I attempted to activate my cheat code system with a lack of success.
Deciding on my course of action was exercising and stretching my baby's body as much as possible. I would attempt to move each body part separately, starting from my toes to my head moving and flexing each muscle I could along the way. This was so I could develop muscle as soon as possible and hopefully lead to a healthy body later in life. The earlier you start the better right?]
I would also listen for Japanese words that people around me said and attempt to repeat them. This was to learn the language and exercise my vocal cords to make sounds more coherent than unintelligible baby babble.
Let me tell you that being a baby was one of the most degrading experiences of my new and old life. Having little to no control of all aspects of your life for over a year was horrible. The most I could do was cry out, and the feeling of helplessness was very alien for a former fully grown adult. I had zero control over my own body for the most part; my bowels would just decide at any arbitrary moment when to relieve myself, I would just sometimes randomly cry, my hormones were all messed up, and I had no control of when, where, and what I did.
One of the things I realized in the first few months was that my brain was much more advanced than it had been in my old life. I could recall things from my old and new life with astonishing accuracy. When exploring my memories, Math and Science seemed much more accessible. I was wondering how I could have possibly not understood them before. Things just clicked. I attempted to look back on all my previous knowledge and refresh their memory for use in my new world when I wasn't otherwise occupied.
There wasn't much activity happening around me for the first few months. My eyesight began to improve a tiny bit, and I could make out rough shapes and colours but was still ineffective in revealing what new world I was in. Mostly there were a few female voices that I heard regularly. The one I listened to the most assumedly was my mother and only one male voice, which I assumed to be my father's.
With my limited vision, I could kind of make out that my potential mother and father both had dark-ish black eyes and black hair. My father had tan-ish skin, and my mother was paler.
The room I was kept in most of the time, which I assumed to be my bedroom or the nursery, was made entirely out of wood with one of those Japanese rice paper sliding doors that I had seen in different anime. There was a blue carpet on the ground with a wooden crib in the middle of the room, which housed me. There was a red and white symbol on the wall that I couldn't make out at the time.
Eventually, my eyesight and understanding of the language grew, and I made a few worrying and exciting discoveries.
The first was that I was, in fact, reincarnated within an anime. Naruto, to be exact.
The second was that I was the Clan Heir of the Uchiha Clan.
The Third was I was Madara Uchiha himself.
I must admit that I had a teeny-tiny, minor freakout but eventually calmed down. There isn't all that much I could do about it anyway. Naruto was a pretty fun anime to watch and was about the middle of the pack as horrible pieces of media to be reincarnated into. Between Naruto and some Lovecraftian horror, I would pick Naruto any day. I was reincarnated into the Uchiha Clan, which was initially very distressing. Obviously, I thought I was in danger of being genocided by Itachi. Still, when I discovered I was reincarnated into the warring clans period, I calmed down a little bit. I would still be used as a child soldier and kill people. Still, I wouldn't have to worry about somebody who won't be born for another seventy years or something. By then, I'll either be dead or some unkillable god among men. The third discovery was fascinating. Madara took on and almost won against the entire Allied Shinobi Forces in the original series. I would have his talent and experience, plus whatever information I could bring to the table. I was a little worried about Black Zetsu, but as soon as I see him, I'll just kill him and end the whole reviving Kaguya thing.
From this point onwards, I had two options. I could conceal my abilities and attempt to progress as close to normal as an average baby and not really stand out to avoid suspicion. Alternatively, I could display prodigious talent and growth to get trained and prepared for the shinobi lifestyle.
Ultimately the prospect of training, interaction, and engagement sounded like the best path forward, and I decided to not hide anything from my parents other than the fact that I had been reincarnated.
I doubled down on exercising and working my body to be as independent as possible as early as possible and always attempted to respond to things I understood.
When I began walking, my Father decided to start my education. It wasn't anything too intensive as I was only about one year old, but I would do some stretching and callisthenics to start and end the day. Most importantly, I started my education as a clan heir. The main subjects I learned were the history of the different Clans, the History of the Fire Nation, Etiquette, Math, Science, Writing, Calligraphy, Chakra Theory, Uchiha Katas and Shurikenjutsu.
I might have complained about the heavy workload in my previous life, but I was starved of intellectual pursuits and was eager to dive right in.
The histories of different clans were probably the most interesting to learn about for me. Obviously, there was a focus on the Uchiha Clan and our Allies, such as the Hagaromo or Fuuma Clans. I knew our Clan's very brief overview history from my past life, but having a first-hand look into the Uchiha Clan was fascinating. The Uchiha and a few other clans like the Aburame, Hyuga and Akamichi were actually given noble titles. They were noble clans of the Land of Fire, and we actually held land and fiefs.
The History of the Fire Nation was pretty uninteresting. The Fire Daimyo and pretty much all other Daimyo's were just generals or leaders of influential samurai clans who had enough influence to carve out their own section of the continent. The only nation with a remaining strong samurai influence is the Land of Iron. Still, all other big countries mostly use a mix of samurai in the employ of the Daimyo and mercenary Ninja.
Etiquette was pretty dull, not really much to say about it. It was all about sitting, eating, talking, giving and receiving gifts, talking with a superior, and other miscellaneous ways of conduct.
Math and Science mainly were focused on pursuits practical for a clan head and ninja. I focused on angles and geometry, which I was told would aid me in understanding Shurikenjutsu and angles of attack for Taijutsu. I was also taught a bit about finance, and basic economics, which would be a base for when I begin helping manage the Uchiha clan in the future. Science mainly was focused on introductory biology with a heavy focus on the eyes.
Writing and Calligraphy were pretty obvious, and I could only speak Japanese at that point. Any self-respecting clan heir would know how to write, and calligraphy built a base for fuinjutsu. While not a focus or strength of the Uchiha clan, it was necessary for the clan heir to have even a rudimentary understanding of all ninja arts.
Chakra Theory was also self-explanatory. I learned about all nature releases, all known Kekkei Genkai and Theories about Ninjutsu and Genjutsu. The only practical thing I was taught about chakra was meditation to calm and focus my chakra.
Speaking of Chakra, I was a little angry that I couldn't use it yet. This isn't my fault but because I was too young. If children unlock their chakra too young, it could cause damage to their chakra coils and pathways. I was a little frustrated about not using Ninja magic. Still, I wouldn't risk my future to unlock chakra until my Father deemed me ready.
Katas were a series of moves meant to simulate battle against an Imaginary opponent. A few simple ones were intended to teach the Uchiha style Interceptor fist and calligraphy basics. Still, different katas were simulated using various weapons like knives, swords, and staff. There were other katas to simulate fights against the different chakra natures. Even a unique kata made especially to counter the Senju fighting style. I already had experience in Katas and martial arts from my previous life. I had been a black belt in Goju-Ryu style Karate which helped me immensely. I was considered a prodigy in this area.
Shurikenjutsu was throwing weapons like senbon, kunai and of course, shuriken. We would throw mostly shuriken at targets shaped like people from different distances and while moving.
That was how the first four years of my life went.
I learned about the new world I was in, grew and spent time with my family, including my new baby brother Inuza.
I was almost ecstatic, waiting for tomorrow. It was like Christmas had come to the world of Naruto because, on my fourth birthday, my father revealed that I would unlock my chakra and begin my training in the shinobi arts.
Eventually, sleep overtook me, and I drifted off to sleep.
…ZZZ…
I was awoken from my slumber by the soft voice of one of our maids.
"Madara-sama, your honourable father has told me to wake you up for your training in thirty minutes."
My eyes opened to Himari, one of the maids of the Uchiha clan who directly served my father, gently shaking my shoulder awake.
"Hmm… Ah, Thank you for waking me up Himari, Is breakfast prepared for me?"
With a slight smile on her pale face, she replied with "Of course, there is rice and miso with extra fish just how you like it."
Traditionally a Japanese breakfast is light and small with some rice and protein. I wanted to help my development as much as possible, so I usually ate as much nutritionally beneficial food as possible, mainly fish and vegetables.
Once Himari left the room to move on to her other duties for the day, I threw the sheets off my body and lept from my bed to go and put on some clothes.
Once, I was wearing a small dark blue tunic and pants. I went to the washroom, relived myself, brushed my hair and headed down to the dining room.
I slid open the door and saw my mother sitting there with Izuna in her arms. Aina, who is my mom's name, was visibly pregnant. She was wearing a dark grey yukata with her black hair up in a bun.
She rotated her upper body and greeted me softly. "Ah, Madara-kun, are you excited about beginning training today? Your father might not express it, but Tajima is very proud of our little genius."
I grimaced internally, but it probably looked like a pout to mom and replied with. "Moooother, you know I don't like when you call me that!" She just smiled softly. "But yeah, I'm pretty excited to finally start learning the ninja arts. I want to be cool like Father."
I stepped out of the doorway, greeted little Izuna by making some cooing noises which he enjoyed and sat down in front of my food.
We mostly ate in silence most of the time. Don't get me wrong, my relationship with my new parents is excellent. Still, the Uchiha, in general, is quiet, stoic people who don't make much small talk. People like what I think Shisui, who was pretty sociable, aren't ordinary, especially now during the Warring States Period.
I finished eating my breakfast with a glass of milk that I made Father get for me and headed outside to farewell my Mother and Brother. I still had 10 minutes until I had to be at the training ground.
I headed to the private training ground that the clan head had access to and looked around.
It was at the north-eastern corner of the compound, wholly surrounded by trees with a small pond and a few targets and training dummies.
Not seeing my father anywhere, I decided to start stretching to warm up before starting my training in earnest.
I finished my stretching routine and started looking around for my Father. When I turned around, I was startled by seeing my Father standing behind me in a white kimono with a dark blue overcoat. Startled by his sudden appearance, I punched out towards him only to catch it.
He just stood there with a blank look in his eyes and his resting frown on his face looking at me for ten long awkward seconds before it was interrupted by him saying: "Good instincts." In a deep voice.
He released my fist and took a step back.
"I have been lenient with your training thus far as to not stunt your growth in the long term, but as is the tradition, you will begin your training to become a Shinobi from now on."
"Yes, Father."
"First, we are going to have to set a baseline of your physical abilities, then we are going to do some sparring, and after that, we are going to work on unlocking your chakra."
That sounds pretty intense-
"What are you waiting for? Get in a push-up position and start working!"
I fell down on my knees, put my hands on the packed-dirt ground, lifted my knees off the ground and began doing as many push-ups as I could.
1… 2… 3… 4… 5… …24 My arms were now beginning to ache, but I kept going. 25… 26… 27… …49 My arms were on fire, and I was putting all I had into one last push-up …50!
I collapsed on the ground to rest for a bit before pushing myself back up to my knees and then getting all the way up.
I was stronger than any 4 year old from my old universe had any right to be and obviously weighed less than I used to as an adult but push-ups still sucked.
Tajima then had me go through multiple other bodyweight exercises, each time doing as many as I could. Legs, core, arms, back and chest. All over, my muscles were tired.
"Good, Madara-kun, your physique is better than I had expected. Take a small break, then we will get into sparring."
Damn, I was exhausted, but I replied, "Yes, Father."
I mean, I must have been using chakra subconsciously or something because my strength was much higher than a four-year-olds from my old life, and I was already starting to recover much faster than my old life as well.
Around a minute went by before Tou-san told me to start attacking him and not hold back.
I rushed forwards as fast as my tired little legs would hold me.
I took one final step forwards before pushing off on my left foot, bringing my right foot up for a flying front kick. I would never at this age be able to fight up close and personal until I grew a bit and could match strength with my opponent so my strategy, for now, was to hit and run.
Tajima simply sidestepped my kick with the same blank look on his face. My right foot hit the ground, and I decided to roll to diminish the momentum. I stood up after the roll and took a stance facing my father.
I once again rushed forwards, this time intending to exchange punches. I was only about 3"4 is so I decided to aim at my father's groin where it would be hard to defend. He batted my punch to the side and shoved my shoulder. Caught off balance, I fell down on the ground.
Tajima stood over me and said: "You have a good grasp on what each move is from your katas but have no experience sparring at all. You will be sparring with somebody every day from now on."
"Yes, Father," I replied with a groan.
"Now get up and take a seat next to the pond."
"Alright." I got off the ground and sat down with crossed legs on the grass surrounding the pond on the side of the training ground. Tajima kneeled down behind me and placed his hand on my spine.
"Now, close your eyes and focus on your stomach. I am going to activate your chakra now." I heard from behind me.
Tajima took his hand off me, did some hand signs, activated his Sharingan, covered his hand in some light blue chakra and hit the lower part of my back with a reasonably gentle palm strike.
Immediately I felt a spreading pain that slowly spread across my body. It didn't hurt all that bad but was definitely uncomfortable. As soon as this feeling spread all through my body, the pain slowly turned into a heat that began progressing back through my chakra pathways back into my stomach.
"Wha-What was that…?" I managed to get out.
"All people are born with chakra, but not all people can use chakra. To unlock chakra, you must either unlock it on your own by spending years meditating and reflecting like the samurai or monks. Shinobi are unique and can unlock another person's chakra for them to speed up the process." Tajima explained helpfully
I attempted to stan up but staggered back and fell onto my father. He caught me and laid my head on his lap while my vision blacked out.
A/N: Reviews and advice would be helpful. I have really no idea what I am doing. Fight scenes are hard to write. I think I tried to explain why everybody in the naruto universe isn't using chakra; all people have it, but only people like shinobi, monks, and samurai can use it through some unique chakra technique or meditation. I already tried to write a gamer-fic but couldn't decide how the system would work, so I decided to scrap it.
A/N 2: I have taken feedback and tried to improve the grammar. I don't want to make excuses for the egregious errors but I used Grammarly to attempt to fix any of them and it might have caused more errors than I fixed. Still, an error on my part because I should have done a read-through to make sure everything was all good. The next chapter is in the process of being written. I really appreciate all feedback and advice.
