Welcome to my first Rizzoli & Isles story this story will focus on pairing Maura & Jane if that's not your thing you are welcome to read something else.

Fair warning Maura will be more assertive and ooc for this story.

Frankie & Nina are married Frankie works homicide

Frost & Suzie are gone

Vince & Kiki are married

Maura is single and out to everyone

Jane is single she did date Casey the relationship mentioned is not Casey

Angela and Sean are married

Chapter1 Picking Up the Pieces

For Jane it had been a whirlwind few months since she had been back at BPD this time as the liaison between the FBI and BPD while she was back at her old desk working with Vince, she did have a salary and more responsibility with her new position.

Jane was hoping the phone in the bullpen didn't ring for the rest of the day BPD had just closed on a hell of a case and Jane was hoping to head home and relax for the night.

"Hey Korsak I'm heading down to the café to grab something you want anything?"

"No, I'm good Jane I've got dinner with Kiki thanks anyway."

"Alright."

Jane walked down to the café where she found Angela helping the last few late afternoon cops with orders not noticing that about five yards away from a tall well built tanned man was racing up to the counter.

"Jane fancy seeing you here."

"Save it Ray I got your last ten messages I told we're done you cheated on me for the last time!". Jane yelled which Maura heard as she was coming up in the elevator.

Maura stood back and observed from the entrance to the café

"You know what Jane you want to leave fine be a single bitch for the rest of your life." Ray yelled as he unexpectedly slapped Jane with the sound echoing through the café leaving everyone stunned as Ray left the café without further incident.

Once Ray was gone Maura went over to Jane to check on her.

"Jane aren't you going to arrest Ray?"

"No Maura he's not worth the paperwork I'm better off without him."

"Let me buy you dinner your shift is over in an hour anyway."

"Its fine Maura I got it."

"Ma A turkey and swiss on a six inch please bring it up please thanks."

Jane paid for her sandwich and went back up to the bullpen with Maura in the elevator.

Just as the elevator was about to stop Jane pushed the emergency stop button.

"Maura I can feel you burning to ask questions so ask away."

"Fine Jane why didn't you arrest Ray for assault and why didn't you tell me he cheated?"

"Maura I already told you he's not worth the paperwork and I wanted to handle his cheating in my way for once besides I probably deserved it anyway."

"Jane Clementine Rizzoli you most certainly do not deserve to be cheated on and any man who would think of cheating on you doesn't deserve you." Maura replied trying to keep her tone even.

"Thanks Maura I needed that."

With that Jane restarted the elevator heading into the bullpen while Maura headed to her office.

Once she got back to her desk Jane found her sandwich and sat eating as Vince and Nina did paperwork.

Just as Jane was finishing her food her phone rang.

Rizzoli"

Jane was on the phone about three minutes before she hung up.

"Nina lets go we got a body we'll meet Maura outside."

With that Jane and Nina met Maura outside of BPD.

"Maura we'll take my car it's faster considering our body is near Fenway."

"Fine Jane no problem with me."

The trio walked across the street and jumped into Jane's black unmarked.

Lucky for the trio traffic towards Fenway Park was nonexistent since a good number of people were most likely in Fenway.

Once they got to the park the front entrance was already roped off with uniforms doing crowd control and since media was in the press box, they didn't have to contend with a game of twenty-one questions.

The trio walked through the ground floor of the stadium until they got to the elevator were they were met by a uniformed officer.

"What do we got?" Jane asked guy one victim up in the sky rightfield suite area is taped off waiting for homicide all I know additional units up there know more they'll brief you."

"Thanks."

Jane Maura and Nina made there way up to the crime scene where they found Frankie standing guard.

"Frankie you pulled the Bruins detail how?" Jane asked her brother.

"I put in for it and got it I didn't expect a case."

"Fine what do you know?"

"One of the ushers found the body while delivering food he's talking to uniforms outside."

"Alright any witnesses?"

Just three suits who were all on there phones away from the box when it happened got them held separated with uniforms outside you may have passed them next door in the radio booth".

"Go with Nina question the trio Maura and I will handle table man over here."

"Whatever I thought today would-be easy money."

Nina and Frankie headed to the radio booth while Maura surveyed the body.

Maura sat up the slumped over man.

"From what I can see here victim was shot at close range single GSW to the back of the head with the splatter patterns I don't know how no one heard the shot".

"That's a first you ruling on COD before getting the body to the lab."

"Well, this isn't a case of how Jane it's a case of why and we still need a weapon."

"I'll see what Frankie and Nina found out and see if security has anything we can use."

Maura conducted her prelim report while CSU worked the rest of the scene gathering evidence.

Jane finally met up with Nina and Frankie hoping they had good news.

"Frankie you get anything?"

"Yeah, victims name is Rey Strong tech investor has season tickets to the Bruins brought himself and his buddies to a game as a thank you for investing in some new program developed by his company, they swear they left the guy alive while they made phone calls techs already swabbed them negative for GSR and we have the security tapes from the entire skybox section we can look at it back at BPD."

"Good head back with Nina I'll head back with Maura this looks like its going to be hell to put together."

"See ya back at the house Jane."

With that Frankie and Nina left security tapes in hand while Jane went to check on Maura any hope of Jane having a peaceful night evaporated with this case.
