"Everything that has a beginning has an ending. Make your peace with that and all will be well."
- Jack Kornfield.
A woman stood in a room facing a long window. She looked to be somewhere in her 20's. She had black hair, with a mix of fair and pale skin tones. Her eyes were pure black, with white dots sprinkled, resembling stars in a night sky.
She sighed. She was watching as another one of her creations fell to their hubris. An entire planet, was now going extinct, because they didn't know when to stop. So, they were being exterminated.
And the one doing the exterminating, was Perseus. He was often called End. Her brother. Both were wrong. He was not named End, only brought it about. And he wasn't her brother, he was her husband.
The woman? Her name was Chaos. The creator of the universe.
But why would she marry the person who destroyed her beautiful creations? Because destruction, allowed for new creation. They went hand in hand, like war and love. Without one, there can't be the other.
Her creations started out so well.
The man opened his eyes to see a beautiful world. Trees littered the plains, mountains could be seen in the distance, and a blue sky with a blazing sun was overhead.
She watched as they got smarter.
The man had found a woman. They created tools out of sticks. It wasn't that effective, but it worked nonetheless.
And smarter.
They had stone on the stick now. It was more effective, but harder to make.
With the new tools came new things. Families were made, homes created. Villages were erected.
It was peaceful for quite a time after that. The people were content with their lives. Most of them were.
But there were a few, who wanted to push the boundaries. See how far they could go.
They created iron tools.
Then the wars started. The fights over who had the best weapon of mass destruction.
But then, there was peace again. Villages became cities. Homes got bigger. Families grew.
But again, there was a divide. Between the people who were content, and the ones who wanted to go even further.
They explored other planets. New creatures and materials were theirs to investigate!
The 1st was a hellish landscape where nightmares lived. They survived long enough to grab some different materials and leave.
One of these materials seemed to have souls of the damned fused into it. This was the catalyst for their destruction.
If they had stopped there, they would've been fine. But no. They went farther. They sought out to control life and death as they knew it. To become Gods of their own creation.
And they succeeded. Kind of. They gave life to automations. Even if they ended there, they could've been fine. Scarred, but fine. But it wasn't enough. They wanted absolute control.
And that was were Perseus drew the line. And Chaos agreed, albeit reluctantly. While she knew that this was a problem that would get out of control if not handled swiftly, it still hurt to have her creations destroyed.
Chaos looked at the destruction that was happening. Perseus took the form of a government official who just authorized the launching of all nuclear warheads.
Suddenly, she felt somebody wrap their arms around her and kiss her neck lightly. She turned to find Perseus with some tears in his eyes. It always hurt him to exterminate his wife's creations.
Hours later, they found themselves in bed. Perseus was crying onto Chaos' shoulder while she comforted him.
"I'm a monster!" He wailed. "How do you love me?!"
Chaos took a minute to think of her answer. She looked into his eyes. Galaxy meeting Sea-Green. "With the end, becomes new beginnings for new creations."
It was a vicious cycle sure, but it was one that was filled with the love of the two omnipotent beings.
