This is a prequel-sequel to Remake Out of Time and Space and Chains of Love, but you don't have to read them fully for this story, but it would help for some context later on. It's kinda like a movie in the MCU; the same timeline, some stuff in common, and important background of the lore incoming.

There was another world; different from our own. That world was nothing but the rubble of ours, islands scattered around what seemed like Outerspace.

At first glance young boy walked around the place with his pet by his side. The boy's skin was light purple, his eyes were black with golden pupils, his ears were pointy and there were dark wings on his back, he was not a human. No... He was a Kai, an alien species, he was a Space Pirate. His name was Goma, the grandson of none other than Spectre who attempted to destroy the whole universe three years ago, the man who abandoned him, centuries ago.

Yes, centuries. But then how was Goma still alive? And how come he still looked like he's 13 years old?

Time doesn't really pass in the Shadow Kingdom or at least nothing changes there no matter how much time passes. As the ruler of the Shadow Kingdom, he is stuck there forever with no way of even growing up or dying.

He's been stuck in the Shadow Realm for too long that his memory was totally blinded and clearly affected, but he did not realize that. He didn't even know what is the truth or not.

His only company there was his Eocarcharia. Most of the time, he stayed in his chibi form.

Goma's strolls around the place weren't his only way of entertainment; he could enter what he decided to call Kage Sekai, a place in between the Shadow Kingdom and the real world. It was almost identical to the real world, but no one was there. All he could see of living beings there were ghost-like figures—he couldn't make out what they were saying—while they did not see him.

He didn't go there that often, but when he did he examined everything he could and sometimes even brought something with him; of course, he only does that when no one is round. Many times before, he was caught manipulating objects in the real world while no one there could see him, but they still see the objects he touches moving. The reason why he has to be alone to take things to the Shadow Kingdom is that people would try to steal those objects from him if they saw that.

He snuck into the Kega Sekai again; he was on a planet that is called Earth by its inhabitants—he remembered that that's where his old man used to go—and to his surprise, his grandfather's ship was right there.

It hasn't seemed to change since he last saw it, but then again, he couldn't remember things clearly; everything just seemed familiar. The only thing that felt out of place was the figures that walked around. They weren't the Kais he knew; even if he couldn't properly see what they look like.

He wandered around, watching these figures. He didn't count how many there were—the figures didn't have a proper shape and their color was the same.

Goma just shook his head and continued walking. He visited a quite dark and cold bedroom; it had such an eery atmosphere, so he rather left than searching it.

The next bedroom was almost clean; however, some equipment in there was partly broken, possibly due to how strong its owner was.

The last bedroom was really messy with all different stuff, unknown to Goma, lying around. Actually, there were some things he recognized, and one of them was a book. It looked so plain with a light brown cover, but it was so familiar.

There were actually two of those strange figures in the room as well, seemingly talking. He couldn't understand what they were saying though.

Goma picked up the book, hiding away, so the figures don't see, and quickly flipped through the pages; he's seen that handwriting before. Going to the start of it, he realized that this was a diary.

The name of the owner, Foolscap, written on the first page definitely rang a bell to him, but he just couldn't remember.

Being curious as he was, Goma started reading.

"Dear diary—yeah, I finally got a new one—this is my awesome self. So, we're still lacking some money; pretty bad, I know. Ream keeps saying that we should get some better jobs than delivering, but come on, other jobs are too difficult and exhausting."

"Is this...?" Goma suddenly started remembering as he read further

On a planet outside of our galaxy used to live other Kais just like Goma. Our story starts in a small but technologically advanced city on this planet.

In a nice, but messy apartment's living room a bluish slim man with blue wings and blue spiky hair was taking a nap while hovering in the air in a laying position upside down on the ceiling as he usually does; he wasn't a heavy sleeper, but he pretended to sleep just to avoid being tasked by his roommates. It didn't help him that much since they knew him so well.

The man's close childhood orange friend walked into the room, ignoring his friend as he was used to that. Unlike his slim friend, he was tall and muscular with white scars on his face. His brunet hair was messy, his wings had a red shade and his little eyes were yellow due to the lighting of their planet. He grabbed a dumbbell and started working out.

Soon, the last roommate entered the room, a young woman, the youngest one of the three actually.

Her shoulder-length hair was air force blue, her skin could be described as grayish turquoise and her wing was blue, similarly to the sleeping man's.

"Hey, Gavro, have you seen Foolscap?" she asked.

The buff man pointed to the ceiling and as the woman looked up, she frowned.

"Of course..." She spread her one wing and tried to fly up, however, it couldn't carry her high enough.

Gavro put the dumbbell down and flew up to Foolscap instead. He grabbed his arm gently, making his friend jerk and wake up. At first, Foolscap panicked, almost falling down. He spread his wings to stop himself from hitting the ground. He hovered in the air upside down, facing the woman.

"Good morning," she said in irritation.

"Oh!" He grinned at her innocently. "H-hey, Ream... Why did you two have to wake me up?"

"Because you promised to look for a job today," Ream reminded him.

Foolscap just rolled his eyes.

"We need to get more money, Fools."

"Then get a new job yourself," he suggested.

Ream frowned, glancing at her wing; unlike Foolscap or Gavro, she was born with only one wing, making it harder, nearly impossible for her to fly which was bad for a Kai.

"Sorry..." He sighed.

"I can't do much, but you can."

"Fine, fine..." Foolscap crossed his arms. "Almost anything for my little sister."

"Almost?"

"I wouldn't tidy the apartment for anyone." He grinned teasingly.

Ream sighed. "Of course... Just don't forget to check for a gig once you finish your shift today."

"Yeah, yeah," Foolscap mumbled before throwing himself onto the couch and falling asleep again.

"He realizes that we're heading to work in like ten minutes, right?" Ream wondered.

"Not sure..." Gavro admitted.

As Ream said, ten minutes later, Gavro had to wake his friend up again. The slim man was very grumpy about that and he reluctantly got up. The three roommates got ready for work and headed out. They all worked at a delivery service; Ream categorized deliveries while Gavro and Fools delivered.

"Ready, Gav?" Foolscap grinned at his best friend.

"Oh, another race?" Ream wondered as she handed them the last few boxes.

"Of course!" Gavro nodded. "Fools needs to learn that he can never win. Maybe if he loses to me for the seventh time in a row, he'll realize that."

Ream giggled. "True."

"Hey! I keep losing because you keep cheating! Ream always gives you fewer deliveries!" Foolscap snapped, "I'm way faster than you."

"For the last time, Gavro has fewer deliveries because he carries the biggest ones because he's stronger than you," his little sister told him, "do you want to carry all of those yourself?"

"If we have the same amount of places to visit, it'll only show who's actually faster," Foolscap told her.

"Okay then." Ream took some boxes and letters from her brother and gave them to Gavro and then gave some of Gavro's big boxes to Foolscap. He immediately doubled down at the weight of the deliveries.

"Dang it...!"

"You wanted it to be fair," Ream reminded him.

"Ready to race?" Gavro asked him teasingly.

"...Any...t-time..." Fools chuckled, struggling to hold the boxes.

"Alright, you two, ready, set, go!"

At Ream's go, the two men set off as swiftly as possible, soon disappearing from the view.

Foolscap got rid of the heaviest deliveries first as fast as possible, then he just quickly flew around the city, passing by tall, high-tech buildings and other Kais; people hurrying to work, children learning how to fly, some just walking on the ground, looking like ants, people just hanging out.

He drifted in the skies, showing off in front of the others around him; giving finger guns to everyone alike. He then dove down at full speed. Breeze messing his hair and his vest's furry collar, the handbag with letter waving behind him.

Inches before hitting the ground, he quickly got back to a flying level.

He dropped off all the mail in front of the respective doors to spare as much time as possible.

He delivered most of the packages before sitting on top of a building. He managed to get a huge part of his work done in such a short period of time that he could let himself rest for a few minutes. Taking a break on a roof, he fell asleep.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, Gavro did his best to win the race. Sure, his speed and agility couldn't even compare to Foolscap's, but he still tried, hoping for Fools to slip up somehow.

The last delivery was an envelope with a magenta hexagon with what seemed to be black wings in the middle of it. It was specifically meant to be delivered to the hands of the addressee. Once the door of the last house opened, he faced a very short black-haired woman, her bloody red irises pierced straight through him with her glare, clearly unhappy to see Gavro.

It wasn't until he gave her the envelope that her expression changed. Her eyebrows raised as her eyes widened slightly.

That reaction only left Gavro to wonder what could have been inside the envelope. He's seen the symbol on it before, but he couldn't quite remember where.

After that, he came back to Ream.

"Wow, you were right," she said surprisedly, "you still won."

"Wait, Foolscap hasn't come back yet?" he wondered.

Ream shook her head. "I guess he's showing off instead of working...again."

As we know, she was slightly wrong, but she still knew her brother well enough to know that he wasn't working.

Foolscap soon woke up and slowly got up. However, as soon as he spotted the time at the big clock on one of the buildings around, he got a heart attack. He slept for too long; he's going to lose the race and not only that, but he's also going to be with his deliveries.

He grabbed the handbag with the remaining mail inside it and jumped off the roof, spreading his wings. He flew as fast as he could.

He couldn't tell how long it took him to get to the last house, but it felt like too long. That thought quickly left his mind when he landed in from of a huge mansion. He was only staring for minutes before he realized that he should finally finish his job. He reached for the last letter and one of those fashion magazines and walked over to the front door.

The same hexagon symbol Gavro has seen on the envelope was in the center of the door.

Foolscap slid the delivery through the mail in the door. He backed away from it and reached in the bag one more time to make sure it was really everything. His fingers brushed against a piece of paper; he pulled it out, seeing the same emblem on it as on the door.

The word "hiring" was what caught his attention. He quickly scanned the paper, smirked to himself, and headed back to Ream.

He cringed once he saw Gavro standing next to Ream, grinning.

"I won," the muscled man mocked him.

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever," Foolscap snapped, rolling his eyes as he landed, "you only won because I took a nap. I thought I have enough time."

"Have you ever heard of a space hare and a space turtle?" Ream asked him.

"Huh?" He only tilted his head and raised his eyebrows.

He shook his head and pulled out the paper that was left in his bag. "Anyway, I might have a new job for us."

That is it for the first chapter. I have a few things to say 1) I know that it should be spelled "Gabbro" not "Gavro", but I'm too used to that, and 2) I don't wanna have the diary segments in the first person since it'd be harder to include stuff from other characters, so it just fades into a flashback instead.

I wrote the SSP a few times before (in Unseen Events, Partners In Crime, Beauty In The Water, and We're Home?), but never properly, so we'll see how it goes. I'll try my best to stay in character, so you all can enjoy the actual characters you came here for instead of someone else with just the name of a canon character.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading enough to join in for more.
