A\N: In this story Abhijeet and Tarika are married. But here they will never act as any romantic couple, busy among themselves. Tarika will be a perfect partner for Abhijeet, a supporting shoulder and a warm hand. Please do not expect any romantic moments from me about them.

NOW HAVE A HAPPY READING...

It was about midnight when a red car arrived and stopped in front of a bungalow. The driver lowered down the window of his side silently and looked towards the building... or more appropriately towards a particular window, where he knew that he arrive!

Life was never so difficult for him before this. Yes, he was alone before also, or more correctly, he had become habituated to stay alone. But in this ever known loneliness, there was something which was completely new for him. And the thing is emptiness! The emptiness and the blankness present in his heart was cutting him... destroying him from inside. He looked towards his hands.

These hands... he had killed Nakul with this very bloody hand. Nakul was his son, his own blood. But then also, he had managed to satisfy his conscience by saying that he was a criminal too. Though he failed as a father, but he had managed to pass the exam of being a cop. He had punished a criminal only. But what about this time?

This time he failed in both exams! He failed both as a cop and a father too. He had punished an innocent soul. He had almost taken the life of an innocent soul and this should not be forgiven. Never!

He again took a glance of that particular window. It was almost half an hour since he had arrived there but still there was no trace of him till now. He was a late sleeper, he knew... then why? He was here, just to have one glance of him... just once! But he was not there tonight.

He smiled sadly over his own fate. There was a time when he used to stay in front of his eyes almost for all the day, but then he himself had not understood his value. He had hurt him, had insulted him, had... so much long list it was! And now...

Now each and every of those actions made him guilty more and more everyday. Nowadays he always had to wait at this particular place to see him a bit. He had wait for the moment when he could come near the window to look at the sky to have a talk with his mother. He missed Abhijeet very much now... but what to be done now when each and everything had slipped away from his hand?

He took out his mobile and unlocked it once. He himself and his two brilliant sons were smiling at him as the wallpaper. He once fondled Daya and Abhijeet's face and a sigh came out from the deep core of his heart, along a whisper as...

ACP sir: Woh bhi kya din the!...

Yes, those were the days! The golden days of their togetherness perhaps would never return again, but at least he possessed the right to cherish them inside his own heart. He knew that the person responsible behind all these mess happening in his life was none, but he himself. He was the reason! He could never blame anybody...

What would have happened if he had trusted Abhijeet? What would have happened if he had listened to Daya? What would have happened if he had not compelled Daya to arrest Abhijeet? And above all, what would have happened if he had KEPT PATIENCE?

Perhaps there would have been everything gone so right in his life now if he had done all these then. No harm could have been done and last but not the least, their relationship could have been normal, like before. But...

He again looked towards the window and now frowned a bit. It was a long time since he arrived and generally during this period, Abhijeet had come to this window already once but today it was different. Neither he was coming nor the light had turned on in that room or the library room. What the matter could be, he thought.

He looked towards the dark sky above him and wiped away a drop of tear from the corner of his left eye. He could not help but emitted out a sigh. Everything had changed... so had Abhijeet. He could never blame him for this change.

All of a sudden, he looked up towards the passenger's door after hearing a soft knock on the window of it. He lowered down the glass, shifted to that seat and saw Tarika standing there, clad in her night suit, with a firm expression over his face. He felt a bit embarrassed due to this as he did not want to be caught. He fumbled a bit and managed to say...

ACP sir: Ta... Tarika tum?

Tarika(in a bit soft tone): main to yahin rehti hoon sir... yeh ghar humara hain sir... mera, mere pati ka aur mere devar ka ghar hain... lekin aap is waqt yahan kya kar rahe hain? Humare ghar ke bahar? Woh bhi aise chupke?

ACP sir: main woh actually... woh actually aise hi aaya tha... tum logo ko diaturb karne ka irada nahin tha mera... (in low tone)... woh actually Abhijeet ko dekhne ka mann kiya...

Tarika remained starring towards him for some moments and then sighed sadly. She looked directly towards his eyes and said in normal tone...

Tarika: Abhijeet yahan nahin hain sir... woh job lekar kahin chala gaya hain... Daya ko bhi lekar gaya hain...

ACP sir looked towards her in shock. He was still unable to digest the fact. After some moments he managed to utter...

ACP sir: kahan... kahan gaya woh dono?

Tarika: sorry sir... main aapko woh bata nahin sakta... woh khud mujhe mana karke gaya hain... main philhal yahin rahungi... lekin sirf kuch mahine ke liye hi... jab tak Salunkhe sir ke naye assistant nahin aa jata sirf tab tak... so mujhe maaf kar dena... aur aap bhi yahan khade mat rahiye... ghar jaaiye... raat bohit ho chuka hain... good night!

She could not leave immediately as her eyes fell on ACP sir's eyes after this. She could see that tears appeared there in those dark pair of eyes. The tears which were hidden behind his silence. But she did not say anything. Even she did not feel sympathy for him. Rather than she felt that he deserved this pain and tears after what he did with Abhijeet and Daya. She just left the place and entered into the house after closing the door behind him.

ACP sir just remained starring towards the closed door and a ball of pain rose across his throat. He felt that like this door, all the doors of this world had been closed for him and he remained standing outside, completely alone. He was kept away from the pleasure feast of the world. He was not invited there.

He once looked towards the other houses of the locality. Not a single light was on in any house. All of a sudden, he felt jealous of them. He felt that each and every person in the world was sleeping peacefully, except him. How lucky they were! How happy there were! They all had families. And he...? He was completely alone. He had none in this world to be termed as his own!

He buried his head in the steering wheel of the car and began to weep slowly. He was left alone! Completely alone! He did not know that Tarika was watching him from the balcony of her bedroom. She nodded silently, took out her mobile and made a call to somebody.

ACP sir was still crying when he felt a hand over his shoulder. He looked upwards and was shocked to see the visitor. A shocked whisper came out from his mouth as...

ACP sir: tum!
