Trace Wilqs quirkpool:
Negative Buff: upon trace feeling any negative emotions,
(i.e. fear, pain, sorrow, etc...) he can pull from those emotions to increase his own physical prowess.
Drawback: if his emotions get too strong, he tends to stop thinking straight.
Damage Displacement: Trace can heal nearly any wound found on a person.
Drawback: The damage either must be moved to a new location on the person's body or transferred to either anyone trace is touching or himself. The wound can be changed, however. (such as a gunshot wound turning into multiple scratches)
Barrier: Trace can create a barrier that is directly linked to his mental power, the more he concentrates, the stronger the barrier.
Drawback: Any damage done to the barrier directly affects Trace's body. (i.e. if a villain lands a powerful blow it can rattle Trace's body badly)
And now thanks to an accident that occurred 6 years ago.
Shadow Step: Trace now has a "buddy" named Djinn. Djinn used to be a direct manifestation of Trace's pain, he is now connected to every emotion felt by Trace, most notably, sorrow. When Djinn is in control, Trace heals at a rapid pace and greatly increases in speed, stamina, durability, and strength.
Drawback: Djinn is able to take complete control over Trace if he is in any extreme pain, sorrow, or anger. If Djinn takes control while in a state of extreme anger or sorrow, Djinn becomes aggressive and tends to become more like a predator hunting its prey.
Most people would never see this person as a hero, they would only see him as support at best. He would show them. He would show them all.
(Chapter 1: The Quick Brown Fox)
"So, you planning to try to patrol again tonight". The shadow already beginning his sarcasm. It took everything Trace had to not immediately snap. "If our thoughts are connected then you should know the answer right".
"You know that isn't how that works". The shadow said in retort.
"Yeah yeah, just try not to kill someone tonight", Trace said, a smirk on his face. With that, he donned his hood and leaped off the building of the prestigious school of UA, a barrier-forming into a slide below him. He rode the slide into the setting sun and prepared for whatever would happen.
However, nothing would prepare him for the events ready to unfold this week.
(on the streets)
Mina Ashido, the self-proclaimed "alien queen", walks down the street, pondering whether or not she should go mess with Tooru. On one hand, they could gossip for hours about potential couples in UA. On the other, MIna wasn't exactly in the best of moods. Maybe she would just head home and relax. A set of hands snapped the girl out of her thoughts as she is pulled into the alleyway. All she could see were a few eyes hidden by masks and hoods. 10 people in total.
Each with a different animal depicted on them.
"We got ourselves a good one huh guys". The man with a rabbit mask asked.
"I like the looks of this one", is all the tiger mask could say.
"I think she will fetch a mighty high price", the pig squealed.
The longer they spoke, the more mina wanted to melt them. She began to try to create acid within her hands, only to find that she can't generate any. She stared at her hands in horror. "I'm in trouble" was all she could think in her head. She began backing as far back as she possibly could go. Which wasn't far considering the alleyway was a dead end. She wanted to scream as loud as she could. To make sure someone knew of her danger, hoping someone would come for her. She could only scream for a second before a gag was stuffed into her mouth, and handcuffs were thrown onto her wrists. The thugs threw her to the ground and began laughing as they slowly gathered around her. The rabbit pulling a knife from his sleeve. She began to cry, thinking this was her final breath. This was her final moments. Until the frog fell to the ground. Everyone turned to look at the figure. A figure with brown messy hair. A pure white hoodie with greyish-blue sweatpants, and blackish-grey shoes. A mask of a fox covering his face. Barehands formed into a fist, ready to protect.
"Back away from my friend", is all the fox said.
The thugs started laughing. As if this kid wouldn't be a problem.
"Go home kid", the rabbit began between chuckles, "you are way in over your head here, what makes you think you can defeat us".
The kid briefly disappeared, only to reappear directly in front of the boar. The boar reflexively attempts to strike the fox down only succeeding in hitting air. With one swift blow, the boar is knocked unconscious, no blood anywhere though. The tiger begins swinging wildly at the fox which easily deflects or dodges the swipes with elegance. Eventually, the fox closes the distance and knocks the lions to the ground. The rabbit takes this chance to jab the knife straight into the foxes back, twisting with every second. The fox screams out in pain, kicking the rabbit away and pulling the knife from his back. He throws the knife to the ground and begins setting up a barrier around mina to her surprise. "Is he crazy trying to fight them without an offensive quirk", she thought to herself.
(trace's POV)
"Crap", he thought to himself. "I can't keep this up much longer".
"Then give me control and I can kill them for you". Trace immediately threw the knife to the ground. "I WON'T GIVE YOU CONTROL", Trace began, "WE CAN'T RISK KILLING THEM". He turned to look at the pink girl. He raised his hand to form a barrier around her. "At least she is safe", he thought to himself. He turned to face his opponents that remain. 8 people up. 2 unconscious. He didn't like his chances but he would have to deal. He ran straight for the rabbit and jumped. He reared back and prepared to knock the bunny out. The blow was successful, dust all over. The fox began to smile until the smoke cleared enough. the bunny hardly flinched. He simply took a step back.
"Heh heh heh, you got nerve kid, I'll give you that. But that's about it." the bunny swings an arm out, catching the fox off guard. The knife sinks deep into his flesh. The fox doesn't scream. He punches the bunny to create distance, the knife flying out of his side. He turns to face the girl with a look of realization hitting him. His barrier dropped. He turns to the tiger to see him loading an MP5. The fox gives himself 5 seconds to react. As the man moved to pull the trigger, he made his move.
(Mina)
Each bullet grew closer and closer. She wouldn't be able to stop them. She would die. She simply covered her face sobbing into her hands. She waited for the impact, the pain that would follow. But it never came. The pain. The impact. The force. None of it. She uncovered her eyes to a sight of horror. The fox was in front of her. Arms spread wide open.
"Well isn't that sweet", the tiger said in triumph.
The fox turned to look at her. "I won't let them hurt you", a crack forming down the center of his mask, "Even without armor, I will be your shield". The foxes mask falls to the ground in two, revealing a kid with brown eyes she looked up to. Revealing her childhood friend. Tears begin falling harder than ever as she screamed. Then she realized. Her cuffs were gone. So was the ballgag. She was freed. She looked at him in horror. He simply smiled as he fell to the ground.
"Run", was all he could muster before he fell to his knees. Clutching his whole body in pain.
She simply grabbed onto him and began sobbing. They sat like that for a solid 10 seconds before the rabbit spoke.
"Sorry to interrupt but we have a girl to deliver", he said holding a gun to the girl, "alive… or dead". He pulled the trigger. The bullet never reached its intended target. A white arm in the way. "You really should have gone with a mule because you are a stubborn one", he said without turning to face him.
"Game over", was all he responded with. Malice in his voice.
Darkness began enveloping the kid until there was nothing left of a 17-year-old boy named Trace. Instead in his place is a shadow of him. Pure black apart from purple eyes, and the arms of a mimikyu. It stood to its feet as bullets fell from the wounds afflicted on Trace. A dastardly smile appearing on his face.
The thugs began backing away in pure terror. The shadow, however, didn't give them a chance. It was a massacre. Blood spilled from everybody. Guts on the ground. A man tore clean in half. And the cause of it all. Her childhood friend Trace. The bunny began trying to back away with his hands. Legs missing. Cracks forming around his mask. Scratches and gashes all over his body.
"N-now now, let's not get hasty here", the rabbit said, pure fear in his voice.
"Hasty you say", Trace asked, "no no no, I was never hasty", the shadow grabbed onto the rabbit's arm and ripped it clean from his body. "Hasty left the damn building when your boys fucking shot at the foxes friend".
Mina froze at that. "Th-that isn't Trace doing this?". Many thoughts began flooding mina's head. Was he possessed? Was he under another influence? Was he acting from anger?
She was ripped from her thoughts at the horrifying sight in front of her. She just fully soaked in what condition the rabbit was in. The shadow grabbed onto the rabbits' head a squeezed until brains were oozing from its hand. The shadow began screeching before it turned to face her.
She began screaming as loud as she possibly could. The Shadow launched at her, claws ready to dig through her. She froze at the site. Her childhood friend, about to take her life. She closed her eyes and accepted her fate. A loud crash forced her to open her eyes. A hand. Trace's hand was holding the shadow's hand back. His body half enveloped in the darkness. He looked at Mina with pain in his eyes. "Run", he began, "run as far away as possible". She turned to run but stopped.
What was she doing? Abandoning her friend?
