Prologue:

"Every reference and document to any citizen killed during the Airstrip One London Incident is to be censored. Every citizen killed during the attack is to be considered a nonperson. The Incident, simply never happened. The Gate had always existed." Winston communicated in his radio device, as he received the orders from the Inner Party and started himself to delete and change every document and newspaper article.

Just few months had passed since the previously called "Airstrip One Incident."

Winston was there when that incident happened, that day he was going to see Julia in a secret alley, when suddenly, a structure started appearing out of nowhere in the middle of the street, even though it didn't stop the tireless and loyal Oceanian workers to keep doing their mansions and focus on their routine, and suddenly, an army of dragons, orcs, monsters and ancient warrior came out the structure, and this army, started to slaughter Oceanian citizens. Winston fled and somehow managed to survive, hiding inside a building.

The loyal, brave Oceanian troops eventually managed to defeat the primitive invaders, and a communication, later that day, condemned the attack as an "unprecedented act of terrorism and barbarism by the forces of evil lead by Goldstein and his Eurasian minions."

After some weeks, it was discovered that there was a world beyond that Gate.

Winston remembered the announcement that was made before the expedition.

"Beyond this Gate, it lays a world of primitives, a world of barbarians and sorcery, where the evil nation called Empire oppresses its citizens. It's our duty as brave Oceanians to unite against this monster. The Empire was always our greatest enemy, and Eurasia and Eastasia were always our closest allies."

But then, probably something had happened in the other world, Winston thought, because now, the Ministry of Truth, had decided that the Incident had actually never happened, and every citizen killed that day was to be considered a nonperson.

POV of Big Brother and the Inner Party

The fact that a huge attack had happened in London, Airstrip One, had deeply shocked the Big Brother and his close collaborators, and the fact that the attacker wasn't either Eastasia or Eurasia shocked them the most.

A Roman-style Gate had inexplicably opened in London, and medieval soldiers, accompanied by creatures that could only exist in myths, slaughtered hundreds of proles and party members, before being stopped by the local Thoughtpolice and Army garrisons.

A world existed on the other side of the Gate. This was extremely bad for Big Brother, INGSOC, Oceania and the whole status quo of the world.

Big Brother organized an emergency meeting with the dictators of Eurasia and Eastasia. Usually they met once a while to discuss plans to keep the world under control and maintain the status quo, switching alliances between themselves, deciding new policies to enact, and other things to ensure a constant iron grip on their populations.

The three world leaders decided to send a joint expedition, to discover what was beyond, and if it was possible to convince their counterparts in the other world to join the status quo system.

Some battles had been fought, and they all ended in overwhelming victories for the three powers, which was good for propaganda, but then diplomatic contacts had been established.

Some diplomats had been sent to the city called "Sadera", the capital of the biggest known nation of the other world, and their ruler, the "Emperor" was surprisingly easy to deal with.

Just like them, the Emperor used a state of constant war to ensure stability and control, as the economy of his State was completely war-based.

His nation was pretty backward, but it was nothing that some lend lease and foreign help couldn't fix. Sol Moltus rule was absolutist and authoritarian, but it wasn't even close to actually be considered totalitarian, let alone similar to Oceania, Eurasia and Eastasia levels of complete, near hive mind-like control.

Big Brother himself, along with the dictators of the other superstates, went in the other world, to speak with Sol Moltus, the Emperor of Sadera.

They showed him the concepts of Doublethink, worship of personality, total control and propaganda tools.

Sol Moltus paid attention because by then, he knew his army wasn't able to defeat militarily the massive, fanatical and ruthless Oceanian, Eastasian and Eurasian armies, and since he was very concerned about maintaining the status quo of his world himself, he gladly accepted to cooperate with the three dictators.

In the following days, arrangements were made for the Inner Party members of the three nations, to come over to the court of Sol Moltus to give him advice to establish a totalitarian dictatorship.

Of course, history would have been to be changed, but that wouldn't have been a problem for neither of the three Earth Superstates. Instructions were sent to each country Ministry of Truth to make it look like the Gate and the other world always existed, and hostilities had never happened.

In a normal nation, denying such an event would have been impossible. People would have wanted revenge for their fallen friends and relatives, they would have felt enraged against the invaders and would have never accepted such a drastic change in policies. Human nature was like that. But Oceania wasn't a normal nation.

How could someone feel sad or enraged by a death that simply never happened? How could someone feel the grief for a person that simply never existed?

As simple as stealing candy from a child, the Oceanian Ministry of Truth gave the order to censor every reference to the initial Gate Incident and delete every evidence that the victims of the attack ever existed.

They usually already did that when they switched allegiance between Eurasia and Eastasia, rewriting the collective memory and the thought itself of people was ordinary administration for the INGSOC elites.

"Recently, it came to our attention that Goldstein and his evil spies are spreading stories, absurdities, about a Gate and a previously unseen world. Goldstein is simply aiming to tarnish the reputation of our historical ally, the Empire. The Gate always existed, and the Special Region too. Nobody died in London, because nobody attacked London. You were all victims of a collective hallucination, mass hysteria caused by the lies of the traitor, Goldstein. War is Peace, Ignorance is Strength, Freedom is Slavery! Long live the Big Brother!"

Author Notes:

So guys, as you have seen, I removed my two previous fanfics, one because it had reached a dead point, and the other (The ISIS one) because it was degenerating, going off rails and I didn't even manage to chose a narrative style for it, so it was ending up being a mix of pure shitpost and semi-serious parts which didn't work well together at all.

I'm experimenting with various Gate setups, trying to find something new that works, and I thought that a 1984 themed Gate story would have been interesting.

I think it would be interesting because in every other Gate story, obviously, the attacked party wants to react and discover the new world, they would be curious, they would follow logic human emotions and thoughts.

But 1984 is different. The governments of 1984 have achieved absolute control over the population. I took some artistic license and made Big Brother an actual living person for the sake of narration, but i'm trying to stick as closely as possible to the original 1984 lore for everything else.
