Hi, I discovered "Backstage" a few weeks ago and really liked the show. But I wasn't satisfied with the ending of Alya's and Mile's storyline. For me, the kiss at the end (although I really like happy endings) came out of nowhere. So, this is my try to take a slightly deeper look at the characters, their relationship and their feelings. Starting of where Alya and Miles sing "Everywhere is you" together at the season's performance, my story takes a slightly different direction.

Please note that I am not a native English speaker. I would really appreciate it, if you gave me feedback on my English, to help me get better. So, if you stumble across any mistakes or a sentence which doesn't sound right to you, please let me know.

The rustling leaves
A hint of rain
My shining heart to rust again

My eyes stayed closed
But memories rise
The earth, her face
The lake, her eyes

They see fields
I see you
They hear rain
I hear too

Your laugh, your voice
Your fear, your joy
Everywhere, everywhere
Everywhere is you

When the last notes of the song had faded away, Alya looked at Miles one last time. It was too much for her. All the emotions she had been bottling up inside her over the last few months were boiling up. She didn't want him to see how messed up she was. She didn't want him to see how much he had actually hurt her. She rushed of the stage, not paying attention to where she was going. The corridors she hurried along were empty. Everybody was watching the final part of the season's performance in the hall. Tears stung her eyes, when she found an empty classroom. She slipped through the door, sat down on the floor and rested her back against the cool wall. Only then did she let her tears run free.

Singing the song with him, was too much for her to cope. It went right through her and had broken down all the walls she had built to protect herself from getting hurt. His voice, the lyrics, the way he looked at her – she just couldn't take it any more.

"Hey you."

Alya looked up, tears running down her face. Bianca had entered the room and sat down next to her. "I'm so sorry for meddling."

Alya smiled at her wryly. "It's ok. You couldn't know."

"Will you tell me now what happened between you two?" Bianca asked softly, "I thought that over the last couple of weeks you two became closer again?"

"I thought so, too," Alya answered. "But..." she took a deep breath and wiped the tears from her face. "Well, the other day we were sitting outside working on the season's performance," she smiled slightly when she remembered the two of them sitting in the grass just like in old times. "You know, it felt so good to finally make music again. Him and me. Together. But then Durani showed up and took Miles with him. Later, when I worked with Frances on my song I couldn't stop thinking about him, I was so worried and...well, you know Frances and her sixth sense. She made me realise that -" Alya hesitated. A new wave of emotions washed over her.

"...that you are still in love with Miles?" Bianca finished her sentence.

Alya nodded teary-eyed.

Bianca slid closer and put an arm around her friend, "But why don't you tell him, Sweetie? Because I think he still has feelings for you, too."

Alya laughed bitterly. "He doesn't. And he made that pretty clear." She saw the confusion on Bianca's face. "After I spoke to Frances, I thought I had nothing to lose. So, I went to Durani's office, and when Miles came out, I told him how I felt. But he got mad and told me I was selfish and that I made everything about me. And then he said -" she hesitated. "He said that he hoped the school would shut down so he would never have to see me again. You should have seen the look on his face. He hates me."

Alya buried her face in her hands. Bianca just pulled her closer, for once not knowing what to say.
