Prologue

The young Pharaoh was about to marry the high priestess Isis, but he fell in love with a young slave instead. His younger brother, Abidos, jealous of Atem's successes plotted a coup'd etat and swore to kill him.

In time, the young Pharaoh fell ill and died young. Abidos was beside himself with happiness. He inherited the kingdom now that his older brother was dead. As per custom, the widow and the servants and slaves that once served the Pharaoh were to follow him in death to help him with his afterlife. Amongst all the servants and salves, a certain slave girl was included. She cried like no one else at the news of his death. Isis resigned herself to her slow and miserable death alongside her husband and all their servants and slaves, all the while maintaining her dignity as poise. She knew all along that her husband was having a liaison with that girl, but she didn't dare reproach him for it, and even when the girl threw herself upon his sarcophagus and swore that she would wait for the day when their love could be free, Isis did and said nothing.

Time passed and the great time of the Pharaohs died out, Atem's rule was overshadowed by longer lasting regents and a certain child emperor, King Tut, a promise was forgotten and only a love that would live through time remained of that caravan that followed Atem to his death.
