Hey all! This is a new idea that I got from my friend, OnlyLonelyStars. We will be doing some stories based in the same universe! This is Sleeping Beauty with Lloyrumi! Check out her story, Hair As Gold As Straw! It's really good! Tell me what you think in the reviews!
A very long time ago, in the kingdom of Ninjago, there was a king and a queen. This world was a world of magic, of spells, of fairies and fae. Knights and princes roamed the land, searching for adventure and fair maidens to save.
This day was a day of celebration in the kingdom. On this day, a baby girl had been born. She was named Harumi and in celebration of her birth, a party was held. Many important people were invited to this party, including fairies and magical creatures of all kinds.
Three fairies approached the thrones on which the king and queen sat. They all curtsied, preparing to speak.
"Your Majesties, may I just say that it is an honor to be here," Piped one of them, a blue fairy by the name of Eliza.
"We were wondering if we could bestow gifts on the young princess. We believe she is worthy of three gifts, one from each of us." Asked the second one respectfully. Her name was Erinda, and her dress was of the softest pink.
"With your permission, of course." Added the last one, a fairy dressed in green by the name of Nyawa.
The king nodded, "Of course! We would be honored if you would bestow gifts on our daughter." He proudly showed them the sleeping princess, "My daughter, Princess Harumi."
The fairies ooohhed and awwed, smiling fondly at the sight of the sleeping infant.
"She is beautiful, your majesty. Now, if I may-"
At the king's nod, Erinda stepped forward, pulling her wand from the sash of her dress, "Harumi, for my gift I bestow upon you the gift of beauty. May you be well sought after by only the most worthy of men, but have the wisdom to choose well." With a wave of her wand, a small puff of magic appeared and dusted over the princess, who opened her eyes with a curious expression on her face.
"Ohhh Erinda, you took my idea. Well, I have a better one." Nyawa retrieved her wand and delicately waved it, "Princess Harumi, I bestow upon you the gift of tenacity. Be stubborn and never give up, but graceful and kind at the same time." At those words, a green burst of magic covered the princess, making her sneeze.
"Oh, that is a brilliant idea, my dear." Eliza complimented, rolling up her sleeves and taking out her wand, "And now for my gift, I give you the gift of-"
Before she was able to say what her gift was, the door crashed open, blown apart by a powerful force.
"Oh King Stefan," Sang a voice from the hallway, "Is this a party I hear?"
The king stood up, horror and rage coloring his features, "Violet? How did you get here?"
Ultra Violet clicked her tongue, her gnarled staff hitting the ground with a hard thunk, "My dear King Stefan, all I had to do was follow the sounds of unbearable celebration, and it led me right to you." She approached the throne, sneering ever so slightly, "So, what's the cause for celebration?"
Stefan shook his head, refusing to answer. Fear was evident in his eyes, but he stared her down, unwilling to compromise the safety of his daughter.
Violet rolled her eyes. Then she spotted the cradle with the three fairies around it protectively, "Ah, I see. A party for a bratty little child and you didn't think to invite me? How offensive."
"Don't you dare touch her, Ultra Violet! The princess is under our protection!" Nyawa pointed her wand at her threateningly, determinded to protect the child.
Violet shrugged, "Pests," And with a flick of her finger, the three fairies went flying. She peered over the cradle, "Well, she's less ugly than she could be, that's a small relief. However I am NOT amused by not being invited."
"Look, Violet, we sent you an invitation. It must have gotten lost in the post or something."
"LOST IN THE POST?" She thundered, almost murderous, "You never sent me an invitation, don't bother lying." She lifted her hands, purple mist beginning to gather inside of the orb nested in her staff, "Liars must be punished."
Realizing what she was about to do, the king stood up, rushing in front of Harumi's cradle, "No! Please! Don't take your anger out on Harumi, she's just a baby!" He paused, biting his lip, "Please, if you're going to be angry at anyone, be angry at me."
She paused for one second and then knocked him aside and into the dais, "Oh no, I think it will be much more meaningful if it is your daughter who pays the price for your insolence." Her stagg lit up a dark purple, and a strange wind blew through the ballroom, causing the guests to run for the doors.
"ON THE NIGHT OF HER 16TH BIRTHDAY, SHE WILL PRICK HER FINGER ON THE SPINDLE OF A SPINNING WHEEL AND DIE FOR THE INSOLENCE OF HER PARENTS!" Violet intoned, casting the spell over Harumi. Then, in a crackle of purple, she disappeared, laughing.
"Harumi!" Cried the queen, running down to pick the girl up.
Harumi giggled, waving her fist in the air. The only sign that she had been cursed was that her short brown hair had turned snow white. Besides that, she could have been any normal child.
"Oh Stefan, what are we going to do?" Asked Queen Argana, holding her close.
"I-I have no idea. A curse cannot be broken by anyone near Ninjago."
"Maybe not-" Interrupted Eliza, getting to her feet determinedly, "-but they can be changed ever so slightly."
"But-Eliza, what are you going to do"
"I haven't given her my gift yet. Now hush up! I'm trying to concentrate!" Closing her eyes, she waved her wand in a circle, "As to the curse just cast, instead of death, a sleep that will not last. For when awoken by true love's kiss, only that amount of time will you have missed." A puff of blue dust settled over Harumi, who promptly sneezed twice.
"Oh, bless you, my dear." Giggled Eliza. She then turned to the king and queen, "Your Majesties, I was only able to lessen the curse, not completely remove it. Unfortunately, as the curse said, on her 16th birthday she will prick her finger and fall into an eternal sleep that can ONLY be broken by true love's kiss. Cliche, I know, but it was the best I could come up with on the spot." She paused sorrowfully, "I am afraid there is nothing we can do to stop it."
King Stefan rubbed his chin, thinking, "We may be able to prevent these conditions from being able to come to pass at all." He turned to a guard standing near the throne, "You there! Round up the guards and get to work finding and destroying all the spinning wheels in the kingdom!"
"But-your majesty! I doubt that will help at all. There's not much you can do against curses. I'm afraid this is now her destiny." Nyawa sighed.
Queen Argana thought for a second, "What if-what if no one knew where she was on her 16th birthday?"
"What do you have in mind, Argana?" Stefan asked.
She turned to the three fairies, "Could that work?"
"In theory. If Violet didn't know where she was, the curse may not be able to take effect."
Argana sighed, "Would you three be willing to take custody of Harumi until her 16th birthday?"
"Argana-"
She put a hand on the king's arm, "Stefan, we can't protect her from magic. If we can't fully take it off of her, we must protect her in any way we can. If it means missing 16 years-" She paused, a bit tearful, "-then that is a price I am willing to pay for her safety."
King Stefan rubbed his forehead, looking down at Harumi, "I-you're right, as usual. Fairies, would you be willing to take Harumi and raise her as your own until her 16th birthday?"
"We will do our best until that time." Promised Eliza, tucking her wand into her sash.
Queen Argana gently handed Harumi to her, tucking the blanket up to her chin, "Please, take care of my daughter."
Erinda curtsied, "We will, we promise."
And with that promise, Erinda, Eliza, and Nyawa departed, taking the princess with them. They settled miles into the forest, renaming her Lilac Mae and raising her as their own. They vowed not to use magic until she turned 16, to prevent Violet from finding her.
And so Lilac few up, as children tend to do, and spent her days roaming the forest, completely happy and unaware of who she was, and of the curse that had been laid upon her.
15 years passed.
