'Where am I?'
"Whoa, easy there, Easy; You been out cold a couple of days now" said an old man sitting at my left side.
"- Why don't you just relax for a second and get your bearings." 'Who is he and why am I around all of this
medical equipment?'
"- Let's see what the damage is. How about your name? Can you tell me your name?"
'Ah! My head hurts! Goddamn noise! SHUT UP!' The pain cooled down after a few seconds but I feel like I'm
spinning. A memory came up. "William Arthur Smith... it works doesn't it son"
"William... Arthur Smith." "Huh. Can't say it's what I'd have picked for you. But if that's your name, that's your
name." 'Jeez not to be rude pal' "- I'm Doc Mitchell. Welcome to Goodsprings." 'Goodsprings, can't say I've been
here' "- Now, I hope you don't mind, but I had to go rooting around there in your noggin to pull all the bits and
pieces of lead out." 'Wait. What lead?' "- I take pride in my needlework, but you'd better tell me if I left anything
out of the place." He then gave me a device called a "Reflectron" with its name inscribed on it and the makers of it,
some company called "RobCo." It showed me my face and every feature about it.

"Well, I got most of it right, anyway. Stuff that mattered" Doc Mitchell said as he got up his chair. "- Okay. No sense
of keeping you on that bed anymore. Let's see if we can get you on your feet, eh?" Doc Mitchell helped me up and
once I got up my vision got a little distorted but returned to normal after 2 seconds. "Good. Why don't you walk to
the end of the room? Go over by that vigor tester machine. Take it slow now. It ain't a race" slowly but surely I
walked to the "vigor machine" thing. "You're looking good so far. Go ahead and give the vigor tester a try. We'll
learn right quick if you got back all your faculties." After starting the vigor machine it showed my strength,
perception, endurance, charisma, intelligence, agility and luck for some reason giving each category a number
between 1 and 10 what does it mean.

"- Well we know that your vitals are great." 'Yeah they are' "- But that don't mean them bullets didn't leave you
nuttier than a Bighorner dropping."
"What the hell is a Bighorner... actually never mind that"
"What do you say you take a seat on my couch and we go through a couple questions? See if your dogs are still
barking" then a memory flashed before William's eyes.
'Hey boy, you lost or something?' then it went away, what memory was that? Did I have a dog before this? Never
mind gotta stay focused. I sat down on the couch while Doc Mitchell sat down on a chair in front of me.

But it was just something about a platinum chip." 'A platinum chip... ... ... nope doesn't ring a bell' "Well if you're
heading back out there, you ought to have this. They call it a Pipboy. I grew up in one of them Vaults they made

way but I do hope it will give you something in return unlike me." "Thanks Doc, really thank you. Are you sure I
don't have to pay you for this?" "Don't worry it's what I'm here for. You should talk to Sunny Smiles before you
leave town. She can help you learn to fend for yourself out here in the Mojave. She'll likely be at the Saloon."
'Sunny Smiles... sounds like a nice person' "- I reckon some of the other folks at the saloon might be able to help
