Andy had just finished 2 years of basic studies at college and she was now ready to explore the world. She told herself that she was going to take a year break before she went into the fire academy to become the job she's always dreamt of doing. She always wanted to be like her Dad and do almost everything he did and his job was just something that she could finally do and something she knew she would love. She was still fairly young in age but not young enough to not be able to drive and own a house. She had her life set ahead of her but her first step was to potentially find herself a boyfriend that would treat her well. She decided to set up an account on a dating site and hope for the best.
Robert had lived in Montana pretty much his entire life. He made childhood friends there and he had a great time. Due to unfortunate circumstances his parents ended up dying in a plane crash which left him shattered. He was very close to his parents and so when he found out, it was traumatic for him. He always had this one friend who was shy but yet very outgoing. He used to ride bikes and skateboards with him in the cool evening breeze just before dinner and they would stay up on weekends playing video games and watching scary movies. They were neighbors and they also considered themselves non related brothers. Lucas was his only hope left in Montana and he knew that soon he was planning to move on with his life so he decided on one thing and that one thing was to join the Marines. He knew that it would be a difficult decision but he made it anyway to pay respect to his country and his people. Lucas supported him as he always did and Robert stayed up countless hours into the night writing letters and doing lots of research into different programs until he found one and they finally recruited him. Robert trained like no other for 6 weeks;he would workout in both the morning and in the night and he changed his whole lifestyle to be able to do this new pathway in his life. After two months of getting accepted he packed his things up from his parents house and he also packed a special box with some of their things he would want to keep and asked Lucas to hold on to it and just like that his childhood home was sold and there was no looking back. He spent his last day in Montana with Lucas, laughing and enjoying the good moments before he was off. He was first sent to Germany where he trained for a year and fought for another. He was then sent to the UK where he stayed for another solid 2 years in which he was moved back to Germany where he completed a full year and was now in his second. He loved training new recruits and he loved the position he was in over the base. He worked and trained for countless hours so he was proud that he made it to become a Staff Sergeant. He decided that since he didn't know his exact plan for when he retreated he decided to set up an online dating account and kept it plain and simple not giving away his job title.
[2 MONTHS LATER] -Present Time-
"Good morning to you too" she said, opening her apartment door to see Ryan standing there with a big smile on his. She was not surprised that he had shown up yet again this early in the morning.
"Andy don't act like I don't come here early almost every morning" he said walking into her apartment. He noticed how every time he came it was always so neat and organized. He decided to sit on the couch and turn on the TV.
"So you come to my place to do something you've could've done at yours" she said grabbing her mug of warm tea and sitting next to him wrapped up in blankets.
"It's better being with my friend and besides your Andy Herrera you're like a total cool kid" he said laughing knowing that Andy wouldn't be far as amused as him.
"Never say another corny sentence like that again" she said, grabbing her phone to check it. She noticed how he kept looking at her and the semi bright screen so she turned the brightness down and hoped he wouldn't notice.
"Soooo what's the secret" he said walking into the kitchen to grab a bottle of water. He knew that she probably wasn't going to tell him but he knew a try wouldn't hurt.
"No secrets here" she said, tucking her phone under her leg. She then picked up her mug and took a sip of the warm substance.
"Andy I'm your childhood best friend. Remember I'm the boy who always used to protect you and walk you home from school everyday oh and don't forget the time in High school where I caught you kissing that ugly boy by the gym" he said laughing.
"Ryan first off you did that because of my dad and let's face it you do everything he tells you to do and you've done way more than me in high school" she said replying back to his comment.
"Tell me then Andy,please" he begged hoping she would give in.
"Since you insist on knowing everything in my life even though I'm a grown woman,I'll tell you. I am on a dating site" she said watching how interested he was in knowing.
"Andy Herrera is looking for a boyfriend!" he said loudly in shock.
"Quiet down it's 9AM and I want to still live here without any complaints from the neighbors" she said watching the TV paying him no mind to his comments.
"I mean I'm just saying you literally just stay in bed all day and clean and watch TV. No man wants a woman that just does that right" he said rambling on and on. He was suddenly stopped when Andy smacked him softly against his face.
"Oh ya that's another thing. You get mad easily" he said
"Ryan for the love of Seattle be quiet. I'm not a loner or a couch potato or whatever you're making me out to be. I have a career path in life and I have money which I will use to go on a vacation this year by myself" she said.
"Woah ok ok didn't mean to push your buttons; I'm sorry. Quick question why can't I go on this vacation with you?" he asked
"Because you're like my pet you follow me everywhere and I love you very much but this trip is for me to sleep alone in a hotel and drink margaritas in a two piece on some beach" she said getting up from the couch and going into the kitchen.
"Woah well I definitely didn't didn't see that coming but ok I understand you" he said changing the TV Channel and sipping his water.
"Want anything for breakfast?" she asked
"I'll take whatever you plan on having" he responded
Andy then went into the kitchen and turned on her Bluetooth speaker and pulled out all the necessary ingredients she would be using to prepare the meal. She decided to make hash browns and eggs with toast along with orange juice.
"Food smells amazing,Thanks for breakfast,"he said, grabbing his plate and sitting around the table.
"No problem" she said taking a spoonful into her mouth
They sat there eating and having small talk. He asked Andy a list of the places she was planning to go but she didn't tell him a detailed list. They sat there talking about their past memories and things they should start doing again as friends.
Andy gathered the dirty dishes and decided to bring them into the kitchen and she washed them out. Ryan excused himself to the bathroom where he washed his face and fixed himself back together.
"Well our little morning date was fun but I have to shower and get ready for my day which means I'll see you later sometime" she said standing by the door waiting for him
"Hmmm Andy is going somewhere" he said speculating the situation at hand
"Ya to the mall and then back home to drink wine and watch comedy shows" she said laughing
"Well I'll be gone. Thanks for spending time with me as always" he said grabbing his keys and hugging her
"I'll text you later" she said opening the door for him
Ryan then left and Andy couldn't help but to fix the living room back neatly. When she finished she went into her bedroom and she picked out a casual outfit and she then went and took a shower.
Andy decided to first go to a coffee shop where she grabbed an iced coffee. She then made her way over to the mall and she roamed the stores buying things here and there. She spent about 2 hours inside the mall before she decided to leave.
She then made it home and threw the bags onto her room floor and she tried on every piece of clothing she bought and paired up outfits that would match. When she finished she put them all to wash and she decided to order in a early dinner.
Italian is something she always liked ever since and she always enjoyed a few other dishes. She ended up ordering Chicken Alfredo with a side of garlic bread. She changed into sweats and a pullover and she poured herself a half glass of red wine. She then turned on a movie and sat on her couch eating and enjoying the movie.
When she finished watching the movie she cleaned up everything and then went into her room where she washed her face and brushed her teeth for the night before climbing into her king size bed that was filled with blankets and pillows just how she enjoyed it. She texted both her dad and Ryan goodnight and she then couldn't help herself but to scroll through online clothing websites.
Andy then decided it was getting late so she plugged in her phone and placed it on her nightstand before turning over to fall asleep.
"DING" her phone buzzed at the sound of a notification coming in.
She turned over and she was surprised at what she saw that lit up her phone screen...
