There was a sweet sense in the air that day. The crew had a relaxed day on the sea. It would take a week to arrive at their next destination, which allowed everyone to spend some time together. Luffy was chilling on Sunny's head, Ussopp and Chopper were playing cards with Brook. Zoro was sleeping on the deck, with Nami sitting next to him looking through a magazine. Sanji had been in the kitchen for quite some time cooking dinner. Franky was in the lower decks checking on the ship's condition and Robin sat on the railing currently finishing her second book of the day. As she closed it and took a quick look at the cover again, she was thrown back into her years before she had joined the Strawhats. There were no feelings of regret but saying that these memories were without pain would have been a lie. Especially the moment she decided to stay with the crew when they were in Water Seven came back at her frequently. She started to think about the consequences of that event and how the marine realized that the crew turned out to be a huge threat to them. Everyone of the crew was viewed as dangerous for different reasons though. While Luffy turned into one of the biggest threats of the marine for his powers or Zoro who was feared for his unorthodox fighting skills, she, on the other hand, had the ability to read the Rio Poneglyph and would hurt the government a different way. A cut that would be a lot deeper than Luffy attacking their main base. And then of course there was the person that was meant seen similarly dangerous. Someone who knows about a highly dangerous weapon that was created in the past. As this thought went through her head, she noticed that Franky came back to the upper deck, putting on a wide smile and looking into the sky. Robin continued to look at him and wondered if he also had these random thoughts about his past or if he was really able to overcome these flashbacks with his free spirit and strong character. Franky looked back at her. Robin didn't look away, she had no fear of looking him right into the eyes as she continued pondering. He rose his sun glasses with his right thumb wondering what she was up to. The deck had turned completely silent for a moment with the waves and the wind in the sails the only things that could be heard. Their moment was interrupted shortly after Sanji returned from the kitchen with some coffee and other drinks. Franky put his sun glasses back on but gave Robin a cheeky smile. Robin slightly tilted her head. Now it was this short moment that brought up even more questions in her head she didn't quite know how to answer.
The day went by quickly. The moon came out in a heartbeat. Most of the crew were in the ship drinking and having fun. It was quite loud, since Robin who was standing outside could still hear them cheering loud and clear. She went towards the ship's bow. The moon was pretty bright that night so that the waves were reflecting its milky-white shine. As she was admiring the sea's beauty, she heard slow steps approaching. Robin looked over her shoulder and saw Franky roaming around behind her. He seemed to be checking on some wood planks in the floor. She didn't say a word as she was observing him again. All of a sudden, he noticed Robin standing in front of him. He stopped with what he was doing and walked a bit closer towards her. Robin turned her body slightly more in his direction and looked like she was waiting for something to happen.
"… Is there…", Franky started, "… something I did wrong?" He seemed to be worried a bit as if he was expecting her to ground him any second.
Robin reacted rather surprised about his question, but she answered with a soft smile and shook her head. Franky sighed with relief and smiled back.
"So, are you just taking some time off from the commotion?", he continued.
"I guess so.", Robin answered softly while turning herself back to the sea. "I really enjoy nights like this."
Franky walked up and stopped behind her. Everything got quiet again. The bright laughter and the screams that came from the inside of the ship faded as the two got closer to each other.
"You know, you are one of the most interesting women I have ever met. Normally people are not that hard to figure out when you get to know them a bit better. That's different with you.", said Franky while looking at the sea with her.
"Still water run deep, as you know.", Robin replied.
"Ha! I can't wait for a deep dive.", he said and went back. Robin watched him walking away thinking of what he just said to her.
